Don’t bother. And if you don’t have a choice because you’re military, write a bad review on . They helped deliver our stuff and were pretty darn good. They claimed to be glad to come pick up our old boxes. Sweet deal! Not so sweet. We scheduled a date and they never showed despite the receptionist telling us that workers were on their way. Pretty much blatantly lied to. Next day, never showed at all. Left message with owner, never heard a word. Called same receptionist from a day earlier. She claimed to have never heard of us, that we never had an appointment, and that she had no idea when they might be able to pick up the boxes. Is it me or is that just weird? Seems to be a multiple personalities deal going on here. Promises, then lies, then promises, then lies, then just no clue at all. Strange.

I contacted this company twice for assistance in moving a safe. The first time I called, I spoke with a woman who promised me a telephone call back that day or the following day. Over a week later I never received a call back. Thinking I would give them another chance, I called again and told them I had not received a call. I was once again promised that I would receive a call back. Over a week later I never received a call back. This is very unprofessional, but seems to be the norm now days and in society in general. I would have paid this company to also move me from my home. It seems as though they don’t know how to run a business. I will never ever use this company, nor will I recommend it to anyone.

The scent of cigarettes and body odor fill the air as the men pack your possessions without a care– because they don’t. And when things go wrong and too much money is spent… a really bad attitude becomes their bend. Will they steal from you? No. But they don’t care about your possessions either. If you have precious items find movers who give a hoot. Not movers who don’t. It’s a job for them. Your previous possessions are a means to their end: lunch. And a smoke.

Poulos Moving Systems(aka Poulos Moving and Storage) did my pack out of household goods in Monterey, CA. I have moved quite a few times and this has to be by far one of the worst moves I have had. The company sent movers to pack my house. Although they were all friendly and easy to talk to, their skills in the end showed that they do not know how to do their jobs properly. First off, with small items, they seem to have no issue except for an occasional brain lapse such as packing 3 glass cups into each other without any padding between. The cups of course broke during shipment. Another classy one was using sofa cushions as padding for other goods such as office materials like rulers, scissors, stationaries, other sharp objects, etc. Instead of using their normal packing paper they tried to save a few cents and use my sofa cushions instead. While the office supplies were safe, unfortunately during transit it punctured and ripped some cushions. So my main complaint is how they handle furniture, the expensive and harder to move items. The items that we actually care a lot about. My sofa’s were not wrapped at all and placed into a wooden crate. Needless to say, the sofa is torn in multiple areas and scratches are found all over the place. On top of that, they placed heavy boxes onto the the sofa arms, back, and crammed as much as they could into the crate so the boxes left permanent impressions from stretching out the leather. The sofa even had tons of leaves, animal hair, and uncooked rice, all over it when it arrived. Did my sofa become one of the movers temporary lawn chair? It is disgusting and filthy. Other items such as the bedroom furniture that includes a king size bed set, dresser, and nightstands were also damaged. These items were wrapped but with only a few thin pieces of paper. All the bottoms were not wrapped. Damage shows signs of dragging. Wood is chipped along edges and corners everywhere. There are dents, scratches, gouges on almost every edge and corner of the furniture. The last piece of big furniture was a glass top office desk. It is very easy to disassemble and reassemble. Takes maybe 30 minutes by myself, quicker if had an extra hand. The movers commented on how nice of a desk it was but then claimed there was no need to disassemble it. They only decided to take off the glass top and metal legs as they took the desk out of my apartment. I asked if they were going to wrap it before they put it in the crate and they assured me they would when they got back to the shipping company. Well, when I received the shipment weeks later, the desk came out with only a piece of paper taped around the top. It was torn in multiple places so again, this expensive desk is scratched in multiple places. To make it worse, because they did not take it apart, they busted the glass cabinet door off the hinges and also they did not put the screws in the parts box so the table now is sitting on the floor disassembled due to missing parts. It has been quite a few years since I have seen such negligence and recklessness on the part of a moving company. They seem to have been in business for some time so maybe I was unfortunate and received their less trained movers. Be careful if you using this company as your movers. Be especially careful and keep an eye on how they handle your household goods if you still decide to use them. I now unfortunately have to try to file a claim for all these items that have been wrecked and damaged.

Poulos Moving System is a quality business and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them. I had a one bedroom apartment that I needed moved from Monterey to San Francisco. Pete came by to give me an estimate and we figured around $ 1,000+ since I had only a minor amount of furniture and personal items. He was patient and carefully explained the difference between a weight based and time based estimate. Very friendly and approachable guy. Pete asked me to call the police department in San Francisco ahead of the move to coordinate any parking permits that I might need for the day of the move. Being lazy, I made that call less than 72 hours before my move. SFPD informed me that I would be SOL because I called too late to get the permit and the space blocked off. That worried me. Really, really worried me in fact. A week later, two members of Pete’s team, Aaron and Brian, came by exactly when they said they would. These two young men were dynamos. Extremely polite and friendly, they got right to work and had the truck completely loaded up in less than two hours.(Poulous had delivered boxes to me and I had packed most of my personal items up myself) I told the guys that we might have problems when we got to SF because I had failed to secure the permits. They were optimistic and assured me that they would get things done. They arrived to the new place in SF and managed to slide their truck into my driveway between two impossibly close parked cars. I was really impressed with these two guys. They jumped out, got to work again and the entire move was complete in another 1.5 hours. The entire job came in $ 100 less than the estimate. It was a perfect move — on time, on budget, and with a level of customer service that one RARELY sees anymore. I was very, very pleased.

These guys were amazing. Pete and his staff were nothing but professional and honest. They were hardworking and handled business. Pete and his crew finished an hour and a half before the time which I was quoted. I recommened them to anyone and if i need to move again I will definately be using them.
