Very warm congregation with an active and engaging rabbi. Wide range of ages with young families and older folks all participating as members. They have a small get together for new members with a few regular members so you can ask questions. For me there were some drawbacks — I didn’t care for the cantor — her voice is too shrill although she works well with kids. Also, I don’t think they offer much for middle aged singles(most shuls don’t) and the promise of doing more for interfaith couples never got off the ground. However, the educational classes for adults and children were good and everyone helps out during the annual Food Festival the last Sunday in August. Excellent foods and a funa filled day. The monthly newsletter was informative and they are always willing to get newbies involved. Somewhat of a schlep but there are some members who do drive from Salinas. If you are looking for a congregation go check it out and talk to them. Membership fees can be negotiated although if you can pay the full amount, you will get your money’s worth.
