The Cake Guy

This dude jacked up my wedding cake. My friend who I have known since I was a kid and is like another mom (let’s call her moms) to me said she would pay for my wedding cake. Well she went to this guy. Well Moms missed my ceremony because she couldn’t get the cake from him. Phillip Costa the owner was told to be there by 2. When I (the bride) walked up to my reception he was there unloading it and Moms and her husband were helping. My cake was suppose to be a surprise, not only that but Moms missed the ceremony because of him. So then we took our pictures while he was setting up the cake. They made us wait so he could finish setting up the cake while I guest watching is sweat profusely while doing it through the windows (they were eating outside). Also he left off elements of the cake that were suppose to be there. Guess what the cake started melting immediately. Everyone started putting fans on it to stop it. Now I went to a wedding in King City before and it was 100 degrees and that cake didn’t melt so my cake should have been fine in a slightly warm room in Monterey. Then we had to stop the dancing early so we could cut the cake before it melted. Then this guy refused to take responsibility for his mistakes (he admitted he had just made the cake that day). Also the quality of the cake was crappy and the cake was dry as cardboard. My Moms and play auntie (who also helped with the cake) had to take him to court where he proceeded to lie. The judge saw right through it and awarded them a full refund plus damages. Of course he is dragging it out claiming he can’t pay it all at once and needs to make $ 100 payments a month even though he has a «successful business». The damages weren’t over $ 1300 so just to be a jerk he is doing this. I suggest you go somewhere else to get your cake this dude is unreliable and uncaring. Thank goodness I am not a young 20 something year old bride cause that could have potentially ruined my wedding if I had let it. Also the quality of the cake was crappy and the cake was dry as cardboard.
