Enjoyed breakfast here Saturday morning. Best breakfast I believe I’ve enjoyed in Salisbury ever. I had their two pancakes(sorry, I don’t do eggs) and sausage breakfast. 2 Large, completely-filling-the– plate-up, nice thick pancakes. When I was ordering, I was very hungry and began to order 3 but changed my mind and only got two. I’m glad, 3 would have been too much. Very tasty, with two 3oz. sausage patties also very good. Despite the room being very crowded, the service was fine. Waitress was attentive, got our orders submitted and food before us in a very short period of time, especially considering how busy the restaurant was. Excellent breakfast and value in Salisbury is here at Hendrix.

Breakfast is great, service is good. Only problem I have is seating. Small place and booths are to small, large people can’t get in them.

Great BBQ salad. I eat breakfast here often and it is always very good. Fast service. Very generous portions. Of you leave hungry it’s gonna be your own fault.

I’m doing the rounds for breakfast, Hendrix BBQ is a Great Value but again like others breakfast potatoes are deep fried not griddled. What’s happened to southern style home fries ?? it’s a shame you have to eat in New England to find them!

Good Service and SWEEEEET Tea! I had the Ft Long and a Q sandwich w/chips on this visit. The Q was coarse chopped with minimal sauce. The Dog was… long with the slaw being the predominant flavor that overwhelmed everything. Not much by way of onions and the dog was just meat. This is seems to be a local favorite spot but just not for me.

Well not the place if you want customer service. I called in an order and drove across town to pick it up. When I get back with my food the order was wrong I drive back across town and they have now closed so I have to knock on the door and windows and get some help. When I ask what about their mistake they said they are sorry but make no effort to right the wrong. They say I can have my money back but I have to give them their food. Really what they going to do save it for tomorrow. WOW. Definitely not a place that like to treat their customers nice. Last time I’ll be eating there. The one in Spencer has always been nice go there if you want Hendrix.

I stand by my previous review and bump this historic establishment up to the full 5-star treatment. Hendrix is a Salisbury, NC staple; there are two other locations, but this one is my favorite and the best, by far. Love their Chicken Biscuit for breakfast, but I’m also a fan of their sausage biscuits as well(try a sausage egg and cheese biscuit… you’ll thank me). Their pancakes are also stuff of legend, but be careful in trying more than one… they are massive. You can’t go wrong with a barbecue sandwich or tray for lunch or dinner. Seriously delicious Lexington barbecue, very tender and very tasty. Fries are surprisingly good, as well… they compliment the pork quite well. They have some of the best hush puppies around, and I don’t like hush puppies… unless they’re from Hendrix. Not too much batter and not too big. This Hendrix has been around for a while. It’s not much to look at from the outside(or, from the inside for that matter), but the food is great and the service is above average.

When I first moved to NC I had my own little«Who’s on First?» episode w/the waitress on my inaugral visit to Hendrix. Her: Can I help you? Me: Yes, please. What kind of BBQ comes on the BBQ plate? Her: BBQ Me: Yes, but what KIND of bbq? Her:(Looking at my friend like she’s going to kill him for bringing me) BAR-BEE-QUE. Me: But what ISIT? Is it chicken, steak, ribs? What??? Her:(Looking like, if I ever order, she’s gonna give me a sneezer) It’s pork. Bbq is pork. Me: Ooooh. Okay. Out west bbq is an action, a way of cooking, not a specific meat. Gotcha. Nevermind then, I don’t eat pork. How’s the mesquite salad? (Insert image of waitress w/smoke coming out of ears) I really was NOT trying to be a P.I.T.A and I’m sure she was not trying to be obtuse. Once we agreed to put our(many) differences aside, that waitress and I got along just fine and thus started a loooong relationship. It’s been nearly nine years and I still enjoy the mesquite salad; big, very satisfying and very well priced. Flavorful, tender, chopped & smoked chicken breast over greens w/awesome(ie: super fattening) housemade ranch. The mac-n-chs side is very good. The pork, according to everyone in my family and everyone I know who has eaten there, is awesome. My sons, hubby and again, everyone I know who’s been there, love the slaw. Stay away from the hush puppies. They are addictive. :) Everyone in Salisbury will tell you Hendrix makes the best Sweet Tea and most of my previous coworkers would get a large(imagine a trough) on their way to work each morning. The service is attentive and fast but not doting. They also have drive up service if you are on the run.
