My co-workers were talking about Magic Mart, which I’d never heard of. They said it was similar to Rose’s or Big Lots and that got me curious enough to make the drive to check it out. It does seem more like a Rose’s with all of the departments it has. The clothing department had discount prices but not discount enough. They were basically the prices you could find on sale at a regular department store. When I think of a discount or clearance(clothing) store I think of more drastic markdowns. Food and household items were hit or miss as far as prices go. Some were good and some weren’t. If you’re a good at price shopping you can find some decent deals here. This was a large, clean store with a nice variety of merchandise. The cashier was super nice. I will probably check it out every so often now that I know about it.

Semi ok selection in a store that reminds me of Caldor. Also, the prices are way too high for the type of place this is.

My husband & I wondered what the heck a Magic Mart was and decided to go find out. Here’s the answer: Magic Mart is a store akin to a Wal-Mart or Target but with higher prices, harder to find dressing rooms and less cache. We did find some nicely priced air fresheners & I bought a cute longer length skirt but you probably won’t find much in women’s clothing if you’re skinny. I had a time looking for size Small and still wasn’t sure that it would fit my small frame. The Misses and Petite sections seemed bigger than Juniors and again, I would have liked to see better organization of items based on type. You might get a good deal on their Clearance rack, though. They hide their women’s fitting rooms so in order to avoid confusion to other women, I’ll tell you where they put it: in the front, right past the customer service desk. The men’s fitting room was this small wood covered room with a door in the men’s section. It was much easier to find. Staff seemed disinterested at the register. I saw 3 registers open but 2 people chatting and one doing paperwork without so much as any interest in helping me. I saw one woman walk up to a register & I had to get in line behind her to get help. That was not appreciated, though when I DID get help the cashier was friendly enough.
