Not pleased with the service I received over the phone. Poor communication and laziness. I actually called 3x during business hours and no one answered. I called a few days later and Bree answered the phone. She was nice and helpful and scheduled a tasting for me and my fiancé. I ended up getting very sick for a month and knew I couldn’t make my appointment. I called again and Shannon answered the phone. She was also nice and helpful and I told her I needed to cancel my appointment because of my sickness. She said I could reschedule and I told her my groupon expired a few days after my original appointment and knew I wouldn’t be better then. She said I could still use it. I asked her if she meant I can still use the groupon and not the paid value and she said yes. I even asked her if we are doing this wine tasting as stated in groupon of what was offered we wouldn’t have to pay for anything extra? She said yes. We scheduled an appointment for after my expiration and she said she was gonna make a note with my name on it letting the person who ever works that day that it would be OK to still use my groupon as what was offered and not paid value. I called the day before my appointment and a girl answers(she doesn’t mention her name) and I confirmed my appointment and I asked her about my note. She said she does see it but they won’t honor it. She said Shannon was wrong. I can only use it as the paid value and not what the deal was for. I asked what is the point of the special note if that’s the case because paid value is stated on every groupon and you don’t need special permission to use that and it never expires. She kept interrupting me and was rude and said it wasn’t her rule and it was groupons rule. I cancelled my appointment and called groupon. They said she is actually incorrect. It’s not groupons rule but up to the vendor. I cancelled my groupon with them because I was so displeased with the poor service. I’m glad I called before I came because it would of taken us an hour to get there from Charlotte. Not happy and sad to see they lost a customer over something so petty. We would of bought a couple bottles of wine! Poor customer service and communication.

I gave this place a shot and they greatly disappointed me. When describing their blend wine, the bartender stated«we just mix together all the wine that is not selling so we can save space.» I thought she was joking and started laughing, but she kept a straight face and was serious! I was shocked at this statement, but that was only the beginning. When I said I liked this kind of wine, the bartender looked at me at disgust and said«Really?!» It shocks me how someone who works at a winery is so disgusted about the own wine they are trying to sell. I hope the owner sees this and will do something to fix the attitude problem of the bartender. I DONOT recommend this place for anyone wanting to have a pleasant afternoon or evening.

Great wine and lovely staff! Our wine tasting was a lot of fun. The shop is kind of small but it’s a nice facility. Not a great choice if you don’t like sweet wines.

Great little winery and amazingly good wines. They are known for their muscadine wines, but the others are good as well. The set up for tastings is kind of small but other than that, this winery should not be missed.

This place was interesting because it’s located in a little strip mall(not an ideal winery location). The bartender was nice and the tastings were generous; we had a good time for the short time we were there. Their 2011 Chardonnay reserve is the BEST Chardonnay I have ever had! It was downright delicious. The reason I didn’t give this winery 5 stars is that the other wines were simply not great.

Our wine tasting was facilitated by Melissa, who was a wonderful guide. She was very informative, friendly, and down to earth. The wines themselves were unique and of interesting variety. The outside appearance may have been a little underwhelming at first, but the experience was wholly enjoyable. Highly recommended.

«To take wine into our mouths is to savor a droplet of the river of human history» –Clifton Paul Fadiman A quote perfectly fitting of a visit to Old Stone Winery. Each type of wine holds so much history, knowledge and distinction that no two are ever alike. My boyfriend and I ventured out to Old Stone Winery for a wine tasting and tour of the vineyard. It is a reasonable drive of around an hour from Charlotte. As we entered we are greeted by Melissa, who happily provides us with tasting menus. There are 2 types of menus, Dry versus Sweet. I decided to go with the Dry menu and my boyfriend settled on the Sweet. If you are coming with a friend or significant other, I recommend doing the same to get the full tasting experience. The menu is set up to gratify your palate. Both menus start out with white wines, to red wines and last, fruit wines. I can honestly say that out of 18 types of wines that we tried(10 dry, 8 sweet), there was not one that I did not enjoy. Throughout the tasting, Melissa taught us the history and the distinctions that define a wine. At the end of the tasting, we were each given a glass of our favorites. I’m more of a red wine kind of gal so the Merlot and Cabernet Franc were my favorites. As far as the sweet wines, I purchased a bottle of the Red Muscadine. It is semi-sweet and has the most antioxidants, as far as wine goes. After Melissa poured our favorite wines, Mike(the property manager) led us out to the pavilion where we enjoyed the beautiful weather and wine. He showed us a fire pit that could be lit up and rows of muscadine vines that he insist we pick and try. I recommend bringing a picnic to complement your visit. After we finished our glasses, Mike led us through the property. As we walked, we learned about the many pieces that make up Old Stone Winery. I would definitely recommend a visit. I felt like I stole a little bit of wine history for myself. Not too much or too little, but just enough to keep me yearning for more.

Wine 3⁄5 I thought both their dry and muscadine wines were good, but nothing to write home about… except their fruit wines which were actually amazing. Usually the fruit wines are just fun ones wineries produce, but their’s were exceptionally fruity, not to sweet and very tasty. Property/Views 2⁄5 Minuscule views. Would not feel the need to spend extended time here. Owners/Workers 3⁄5 Did not meet owners, workers were alright. Friendly and knowledgeable enough, but did not leave any sort of lasting impression that would make me want to come back again. Tour/Extras n/a Did not take advantage of any tours. Drive-worthy? If you are going along the 85, I would only stop if you are also going to other wineries. I would not go out of my way to solely visit this winery.

This winery has excellent Sweet and Semi-Sweet Muscadine wine. I like to buy few bottles every time I come down to NC. Their other wines are wonderful too. The staff is really friendly and they have tastings all the time. They also have a cute outside patio facing the vineyard. The prices reasonable, the location is easy to find it is right in town not too far from the highway, friendly and good wine. You should definitely check this place out.

Do NOT let the graveyard across the street fool you into thinking that this place is not amazing. Stepping into the shop/tasting floor can be equivalent to entering wine heaven. My friend and I brought a picnic basket to eat before our tasting. We got to sit in the outside patio facing the vineyard. Since the winery is know for it’s muscadine wines, we enjoyed the award winning Sweet Muscadine with our food. The atmosphere is definitely intimate and the mini vineyard is beautiful. The tasting was accompanied by knowledgeable individuals who were friendly and entertaining. Since the tasting was purchased through Groupon, I had little to no intention of buying wine. However, it was so delightful– we ending up buying over $ 100 worth of their wine. Very good– highly recommend!

Delicious Wine! This place is 5 miles off of 85, so if you are traveling through North Carolina it’s worth the stop. They have a mix of the local muscadine flavors and fruit wines, but they also have some good standards. We bought one of the cabs and a pinot grigio. They had good prices, but my favs were the $ 22-$ 30. Most of the bottles were in the $ 12 range. Friendly proprietor, but simple retail atmosphere. Perfect drive by!
