For vegans, they have a black bean burrito(order without cheese and sour cream) that comes with beans and rice(rice is made without animal stock; Guacamole is also free of sour cream). Note: The black bean burger is not vegan. I was happy to find this place during my travels(because nothing showed up on my vegan map between upstate NC and Concord). The service was bright and friendly. My order was prepared quickly. The food was simple and taste. Liked the uniqueness of sprouts in a burrito. It is a cute place with modern décor and has outdoor patio seating if desired. Prices were very reasonable.

This edition of Excited about Eating takes us north to the City of Salisbury and to Palms Café. This local neighborhood eating establishment offers breakfast, a large variety of sandwiches, and specialty coffees. You must order at the counter(no trouble seeing the menu, it is written all over the walls) and the food is brought to your table. I chose the New York, New York hot sandwich, roast beef, corn beef, pastrami & turkey stacked high with Swiss cheese, 1000 island dressing served on grilled rye bread with a side of homemade potato chips. Hearty and filling, the different meats mixed well with the dressing. The chips were seasoned well and firm enough to dip in the ranch dressing. Overall, great! Dora here. The Mandarin Orange Chicken Salad offered a generous portion of chicken salad, fresh greens, cucumbers, sunflower seeds and mandarin oranges with a sesame oriental dressing. I’m pretty picky about salads. I don’t like a lot of extra stuff, and this salad worked for me. The chicken salad was creamy, sweet and delish! I enjoyed the texture of the sunflower seeds, and the oriental dressing rocked! And what a value at less than $ 8! That leaves a little extra for dessert, right? Especially since I had my heart set on that Palms Java shake… The Palms Java shake was a mixture of espresso, java chocolate chips and vanilla Gelato. I would have liked the shake to be a little thicker. Dora here. I’m with Ernie on this one. I expected the shake to be thicker and more coffee flavored, but, hey, Gelato and coffee…:sigh: thick, thin, who cares? Nice way to cap off the meal. Palms Café is one of those comfort restaurants, the kind you go to after a long day and don’t really know what you want. They have a menu with options sure to please everyone. We rate this restaurant 4 forks out of 5 for a family friendly restaurant serving great food. ~Ernie & Dora Hiers, Fiction Faith & Foodies Blog

Love going here for breakfast, lunch, or just coffee. The interior is much more impressive than the exterior. I had no idea how nice it would be the first time I walked in as it looks a little«hole in the wall”-ish from the outside. So far, everything I’ve tried has been good :)

Have been a couple of times and never been disappointed. Homemade chips are great. Salads, sandwiches are very good !! Parking is ok never been a problem. Staff is very friendly and always attentive. Haven’t dined outside yet but looking forward to that soon. It is worth your time to stop in if you are in the area.

Great atmosphere, décor, personnel and food. The Salisbury Club was my first experience eating in here and was delicious! Home made chips were perfect. I have to come back for their desserts and coffee bar and breakfast. Can’t wait!

I’m doing the rounds for breakfast, Palms is the only place that puts onions/green/red peppers in the home fries which is a cut above the rest AND they are a great value. My gripe is I can tell the potatoes were frozen then griddled. What’s happened to real potatoes ?? are we having a plight that I don’t know of? southern style home fries ?? it’s a shame you have to eat in New England to find them!

Generally, i enjoy the Palms. But their menu is HUUUUUUGE! And they have everything written on all these chalk boards above the area where you order as if people want to take the time to look up there, read that chicken scratch, and try to look thru that neverending list of menumenu items to find something. Id much rather look at the paper menus right in front of me! After you order they give you a number and you go find a table ans wait for your food to be delivered. Almost always they forget something or get something wrong on my order. In my opinion the area where you get condiments and drinks is usually always a mess. Also i hate using the bathrooms. They could clean them a lot more. The Palms can be very inconsistent depending on who is in the back cooking. For example i sent my chips back 3 times 1 day because i told them they tasted like they were cooking them in old gteaae and what did they do? Put them in the same grease and sent more out. But they have really good breakfast. Their waffles and pancakes are good, also the sandwiches, and when they get the food right I’ve never had a complaint about taste.

Just because you pay fresh food prices does not mean that you’re guaranteed fresh food. Example: they use canned spinach in their omelets. Yum. I have been to The Palms a few times and while it has never been great, it has yet to be bad. It is typically crowded/loud– a favorite lunch spot for co-workers. You order at the counter and put your number on the table. Most recently, I ordered the BLT. They asked if I wanted the sandwich toasted, and I said yes. When it came out, the bread itself was toasted, but the pepperjack cheese was cold. I might be the only one who thinks this odd; it was still on par for a BLT I suppose. This seems to indicate that a large portion of the food is assembled rather than cooked. Take that as you will. They serve Boar’s Head deli meats, which is always a good sign in my book. The salads look yummy, though I’ve never tasted them. The gelato, however, looks quite sad. Still, it seems that you can find a good meal if you know what to get. I believe that The Palms could greatly benefit from a reduced menu featuring only their best items. If I ever came back, I might opt for an item that says«made to order” — and avoid anything containing spinach.

Met a friend here for lunch today, as it was a good half-way point for both of us. It was quiet when we got there with just a few others eating lunch. You order at the counter, they give you a number and bring your food when it’s ready. People were friendly, service was ok(it was basically self-serve other than having your food brought out), food was good but we weren’t wow’d. They have a large menu and serve breakfast all day. We enjoyed that they have outdoor seating and we didn’t feel rushed.

One of my favorite places to eat in Salisbury. Laid out like a coffee shop inside. Menu is on chalk boards on the wall. Great food. I’ve never had something I didn’t like. My favorites are the black bean burrito, Golden malted waffles, crepes, athenian chicken, and the home fries with peppers and onions. Writing this is making me hungry. Looks like I will be headed there sometime this week. LOL

Visiting relatives and wanted a place that served some gluten free options. This place has lots of protein choices and offers a gluten free pancake that was yummy. All of the food was delicious.

I’ll admit that this place was great, but not quite a 5 star. The parking was decent, the selection was good, price in the right ball park and the speed of service was ok. The flavor of the food was amazing and the friendliness of the staff was right there, but there was just something lacking for the big 5 star — perhaps it just didn’t feel as welcoming as it could have been — for the South — I just expect more southern hospitality.

I came here with a couple of co-workers and was super excited to see that 1. they serve breakfast all day and 2. they serve biscuits and gravy. I knew I wanted the biscuits and gravy going in so when I walked in and saw the expansive menu I stuck to my guns and ordered that along with a side of bacon. It’s a McAlisters/Jason’s Deli type ordering experience ordering up front and sitting down with a number. The cashier was very friendly and we found a seat with no problem. We got our food around 15 minutes later and I was kind of disappointed. The gravy was super white and there was only 1 biscuit. Sometimes one biscuit is plenty, but this time it wasn’t. It just wasn’t very good. I would definitely go back but I would get something else, probably a sandwich which seems to be more of their specialty.

Food was alright my roommate and i did the make your own omlet. they put wayy to many muchrooms in with the other ingrediants, they kinda skimped on the other ingredients. My roomate had gotten tomatos mushrooms and spinach with american cheese. it was pretty much all spinach. I also thought it was over priced for just that and 2 orange juices it was 21 dollars. pretty crazy in my opinion. i do plan to go back and try their normal food. over priced. was my main problem

If you’re paying with your debit/credit card, check your account!!! They add tip after the fact!!! We’ve gone to Palm’s Café several times since it opened. Enjoyed that it’s a comfy and laid-back environment. The food is o.k. but served fast. Loved that they offered gluten-free options. But, I will no longer be attending this place. Tip was added to my bill. I did not authorize it. And I was unsuccessful with reaching management.

My favorite place to eat in Salisbleary! And let’s be honest, there ain’t many options ’round these parts. If you’re in the mood for simple, somewhat healthy, American food, this is the place for you. When you first walk in, or when you look at their online menu, it can be pretty daunting. Actually, the in-store chalkboard menu is an explosion of colors and the online menu is a mess. I have no problems with the paper menu. Which is why I have several copies at my desk at work. :9 For breakfast, the special is a great deal, especially if you like eggs in the morning. Omelets and Belgium waffles at nothing special. I have not had their crepes. Definitely get coffee. For lunch, I highly recommend the Nutty Cranberry Turkey salad with the balsamic vinaigrette. Their salad portions are not to be messed with. I could split one salad into 2 meals, if I had any self control. I also like the Palms Special Grilled Chicken salad. The Reubens are acceptable, but can’t be compared to the real deal up north. When I’m fiending for a wrap, and/or sprouts, I get the Salisbury Club in a wrap. For sides, homemade chips when you’re in the mood and the apple when you wanna be healthy. Seriously, where are they getting those amazing, bruise-free, perfect apples? Don’t even get me started on dessert. Every time I go in, I just want to crawl inside the display cabinet and live there forever. Finally, they’ve got a handy pick up window. When I call in a lunch order for 4 people, it’s ready for pick up within 10 minutes. The people who work there are nice and accommodating. Some menu items could be better, but my favorites MUST not be replaced ;) If you ever find yourself in Salisbury, and you never know(trust me), go to the Palms immediately

The menu is EXPANSIVE! Almost Dizzying! We got some Gelato and a Brownie that was more like Cheesecake! The Napolian Looked Fantastic as did many of the desserts! I’m Mad about Gelato! Good Gelato makes me crazy and GREAT Gelato drives me totally insane! The Men in White had their chance, even though we think we ditched surveillance at the airport! We tasted most of the Gelatos and surprisingly they were ALL Good(only good) Three Unilocal stars or 3.5 for the Gelato! None of them were Great! «Snickers» and Biscotti” Gelato were the final Gelato after tasting most of the flavors! Before I found this place I was already in LOVE with Salisbury! So we will be back and will will see if the Gelato gets better and review more food and desserts! The service was GREAT though service does not improve my Unilocal stars for this, nor does how Cool this place looks, great indoor Dinning Room and Storefront Patio!

Best food per $ in Salisbury as far as I’m concerned. Great specials, good soups, coffee, gelato, etc… Since recently taking a job in Salisbury I have only found about 3 or 4 places that I would consider good at best. I find myself at this establishment quite a bit due to how fair the pricing is. Normally you can get a legit meal, starch, veggies, and meat for 5.99 and I don’t think tipping is customary. The menu is all over the place, literally. Its written on multiple walls. Also, I’m not really sure who I’m supposed to order from. There are 3 cashier stations, one is kind of off to the side. But I normally figure it out well enough to get me some food. Breakfast is great, made to order omelets that REALLY hit the spot. However I do find myself trying to go to lunch here at off hours due to the fact of how much traffic they have coming through there at peak times. Actually, I’m going to cut this review short, its 70 something degrees in December and that Gelato is calling my name. Bottom line is, it ain’t amazing, but its sure better than most of their competition and thats good enough for 5 stars around here.
