I consider myself very knowledgeable in antiques and collectibles. While Salisbury Square antiques is a little shy on the antique aspect they definitely have a lot of collectibles. I think referring to them as crap or junk is just a tad harsh. Nick nacks, and collectibles along with wine us what the business has.

At first I did enjoy the shop. Tons of old hat boxes and a neat group of stuff. A lot of stuff I dont collect, but a lot of items I did have interest in. I saw there was a downstairs, so i headed down. I was behind an employee of the store, who headed into an employee only area. I began to look at a section of stuff when i noticed all the lights were getting turned off. I waited a few seconds and nothing. I said«hello» and nobody replied. I decided against going into the employee only area and figured id head upstairs to let them know someone just turned the lights off on me. Well, the entire stairwell was pitch black. Couldnt see 2 inches infront of you. I had my iPhone and used the flashlight on that to get me back upstairs. I get upstairs and a guy was there, and i asked him if they were closing. He said no were not, but were closing the downstairs. I told him I was down there and a guy just turned off the lights on me. He said he was«sorry about that» and I said how I was right behind the guy and he shouldnt of known I was there and just turned them all off without checking. I added the stairwell was pitch dark and i couldnt even see. He once again apologized, but very casually. The fact they«close» the downstairs well before their closing time makes NOSENSE! They have a wine celler down there but also a lot of items for sale. I just dont get why they would close the downstairs yet keep the upstairs open. This place will never get my business again and I hope people read this to see how rude the employees are and how they dont care about the paying patrons.

Ughhhh no. This place is not for me. I guess if you live in Salisbury, and refuse to venture the short distance down to Charlotte then I could almost see how you would convince yourself this place is worth going to. But even then, you’ve got to have a pretty skewed idea of what the rest of the world refers to as «standards.» I think the main component of this place is the shop on the first floor, which is more of a random assortment of crap, that happens to be placed in jigsaw puzzle like manner. If there was ever anything you actually wanted to find here there is no way you could. I have a pretty strong opinion that there is a valid market for«antiques» but nobody wants to buy«old junk,» which comprises the better part of the inventory. On the basement level is the wine«cellar,» as they call it, and there is an actual temperature controlled room with a few wine bottles, but you can’t actually get in to see it. All you see is dust-laden shelves with a mediocre sampling of mostly grocery store wines. Each thing on the shelf is typically just 1 bottle, so if you want more you have to special order it. There is a large section of North Carolina wines, all of which are just plain awful in my opinion. They also do wine tastings down in the basement, I believe on a weekly basis. This pretty much consists of the group of old people showing up every single week and gossiping while complaining about the wine that’s being offered. I reluctantly attended a few of these and I was appalled at peoples’ behavior considering they were getting outstanding wine and a few hor’dourves for next to nothing.
