Courtney is one of the nicest people I have ever met. She’s honest, friendly and has a definite passion for what she does. I got my bottom lip pierced and at first, I was very nervous but talking to Courtney calmed me down. She explained the process and kept everything clean and simple. Thank you, Courtney! I had my septum pierced tonight and Courtney really made it a great experience. She’s so nice and chill to talk with. She also has an amazing selection of jewelry and provides great recommendations on what jewelry to get. She also told me a little bit about my chakras and relates piercing to acupuncture very well. Her shop is very clean and well decorated. It has a very soothing ambiance. Overall, this was a great experience and the pain was minimal. I can’t wait until it heals so I can go back and get one of her beautiful gold septum rings! I will definitely return to Abyss for all of my future piercing needs.

I went for a spur of the moment piercing. I got my right nostril done. Courtney was so nice! I was very impressed. She talked me through everything and told me exactly what I’d feel in the process and how getting piercings is related to acupuncture.

I have been pierced at one of the other major piercing joints in SLC many times, but I decided to branch out to Courtney at Abyss because it’s closer to my house, and it’s owned and operated by a woman (hell YAS). I am so happy that I came to Abyss to get my nose pierced. This is the first time (out of 4) that my nostril piercing healed correctly and effortlessly. The piercing experience was clean and easy, and Courtney was very professional. She even helped me choose the jewelry that I wore in it for my wedding, we ended up on a turquoise stone set in gold and it was perfect for my big day. I will continue giving Abyss my business and recommend it to all my people! Cheers.

Courtney did a fabulous job on my daith. It still hurt (hello, she pierced my cartilage), but within minutes it didn’t even bother me. She was so patient and knowledgeable with my millions of questions about materials, longevity, etc. Not sure I’ll be getting any more piercings, but she’s who I would turn to if I did. I guess I’m not super knowledgeable, but I was hoping for a little more variety with the jewelry for my piercing, but for the budget I was on, she definitely had what I needed.
I’m so happy I found this place. It’s very clean, impeccably maintained, and purposefully driven. I would be genuinely shocked if they closed for Any reason other than she was moving.

Courtney Marriott is an exceptional human being! She took such great care of me when I randomly dropped by. I had my cartilage pierced somewhere else and had a negative reaction. Courtney educated me on the different kinds of metals and why my body was rejecting my initial piercing. She cleaned me up and used high quality jewelry and taught me the PROPER after care instructions. I waked in with excruciating pain, and after ONE day of following her instructions, my pain is completely gone and swelling and redness has reduced by 80%!! I will only go to Courtney for my future piercings. And I live in Seattle. I would completely fly over here just to see her only.

Courtney is seriously the most sincere and trust worthy person to get pierced from in Salt Lake City. I made the mistake in the last of going else where just to end up having her fix it. She takes her time to make sure everything is comfortable and pleasant for you, and even explains what each gem means and what chakra it opens where you are getting pierced.
She has worked with me tons of different occasions of fixing, replacing, custom ordering, and stretching and of COURSE new piercings.
She’s such a sweet heart, and she makes a new piercing seem like a relaxing session of stress relief, because we all do need our fix :)

Hands down one of the best places I have ever had the pleasure of being in. It is a little bit of a slow process, but it is worth it. If you are familiar with a small business at all that is how it usually goes. The young lady who runs the shop is the only piercer there, so yes there might be a wait, but it is well worth it. She is very accommodating and makes you feel welcome and at home. I have been to a few other piercing shops in the valley and they kind of vibe you out, but Courtney is the exact the opposite. When it came down to her doing the actual piercing on my belly button there was no hesitation and she felt really confident in what she was doing. I would highly recommend anyone looking to get a piercing or buying jewelry in salt lake and the surrounding areas to stop by Abyss and check out the shop.

I absolutely adore Courtney. She first did my smiley (or webbing), and a month later I came back to get two nostril piercings! Courtney is personable and professional, and her shop is clean and peaceful — very refreshing and unique from other piercing shops I’ve been to. They always have the cutest jewelry and competitive prices. I also love how she incorporates the holistic aspect into all her work (Abyss does a lot more than just piercings, by the way!). Looking forward to adding more soon, I wouldn’t go to any other piercer!

Into the store and want to get something done. She’s the only one there so you need to not be on a tight schedule.
I’ve been waiting for my jewelry to come In for a few months and she never let me know that what I wanted had already come in, and then sold out again. Every time I came in or called, it was never there, but it turns out it had come came in but she never told me. So now it’s been almost 4 months and it looks like it’ll be another long while so I’ll have to go elsewhere, as I probably should have done to begin with.
Also she changed my nose piercing to a post that was way too small for my nose, so it got sucked into my nose. It swelled up and I had to go to another (better) studio to get it out when she was closed. When I took it back to her telling her this and asking if I could please have a refund because I had to purchase yet another nose ring to replace the one that got trapped in my nose so the hole wouldn’t close, she said she doesn’t do refunds and wouldn’t let me choose something else. The best she would do was wait for a longer threaded post to come in so I could have that one instead. Based on her track record though, I don’t want to wait for another piece of jewelry to come in because I feel like I’ll never see it.
she also doesn’t seem to be terribly confident when she pierces, which is unnerving when you’re getting a hole stuck in your body.

I have been going to Courtney for about three years now and have had the pleasure of seeing her work at two other shops before taking the plunge and opening her own. Her shop is considered a throw away shop, which means she does not re-​sterilize previously used needles or jewelry, unlike many other shops I have gone to. It is the epitome of a clean and welcoming environment. She has the amazing ability to calm clients before piercing them and reads your breathing to time the piercing perfectly. I recently got a double nostril piercing (again) from her and needed a minute to calm myself after the first one and she was more than happy to oblige. Her skills and her jewelry are all top notch. I recommend her to everyone I know and will be a life-​long customer!

Brand new shop. They are super clean. I was even stopped from putting in my jewelry in store. Selection is growing. I received great customer service and they offered to order a product I wanted for me. I might return.

Courtney has been one of the most fiercely dedicated piercers I have observed over the past 2 years. The opening of her studio has payed tribute to not only her integrity to her work but also her wicked sense of interior design. seriously, have you seen those rolling wood doors!
