Autozone

Came in with a burnt out headlight. $ 10 and 10 minutes later I was on the road again. Fabian came out and installed the light for me no problem, even in the rain. Friendly and fast service.

I’ve been going to many Auto zones throughout Utah and California for the last 10 years. I just moved back to SLC and my headlight went out. I decided to pick one up here because they (in general, the stores) have always been happy to replace the light for me, which I always greatly appreciate.
I went here at 930p the other day because that’s when I realized it was out. I wanted to get it replaced because I didn’t want to get pulled over. The unfriendly associate said he couldn’t go outside at this time because he needed to start prepping for closing. I get that, but it was more of the attitude like I was crazy for asking. Replacing the light takes approximately 3 minutes when the associate does it, I don’t think it would have killed him.
Okay, so then I came back the next day around 2pm, early enough for no excuses of closing. I came in with a child in hand and still grumpy service. He said 3 people didn’t show up today and that I would have to wait 20 minutes… sorry, but with a 1 year old child in my hands, it’s highly unlikely he will remain stable for that long. I think it’s the management that is lacking and no one wants to show up and work.
I decided to leave and drive two blocks away to OReillys. I walked in, purchased a light, he replaced the light within a few minutes and I was out the door.
I drove back to Auto Zone and returned the light I bought there. I will not bring my service here anymore.

Lots of hate for this store, but not sure why. Fairly standard inside, with a pretty solid selection of stuff. Staff seemed helpful and unobtrusive, for the most part. Be careful buying toys here, though and definitely don’t let your toddler talk you into getting one. You will overpay. You’ve been warned. I wasn’t in love with the parking, but it’s more or less what you throw in for when going downtown…

I went into autozone at about 10pm. To buy a battery and have it put in my car. In 25 degree weather Christopher put my battery in so that my wife didn’t have to struggle the next day. He was already off the clock. So that meant a lot. Good customer service

Ever since I moved to Salt Lake City, about five years ago, this AutoZone has been my parts store. And it was fine. To me, all parts stores are about the same — they have about the same inventory, and they are priced about the same. But a couple of years ago this place changed. They started some new program where they try to upsell you on every purchase. And they’re really pushy about it too. If you buy a bulb replacement, they try to push some grease that will keep it from freezing up due to the cold weather over the course of years. I could give other examples of as well, But it doesn’t matter what you buy, they always have something they try to upsell you with, or they tell you about a special they’re having on something or other. I have politely asked them not to try to sell me anything, and the totally crazy thing is that they often don’t respect my wishes, and they try to justify why they have to sell me things, and it ultimately results in an argument.
This morning, I went there to buy a quart of oil. I went to the counter, and remembering, as I usually do, that they are going to try to sell me something that I don’t want, I politely, in a soft voice, asked him to not try to sell me anything. He did anyway. Then I explained to him how demeaning it was to both of us that his superiors make him do that. It is as pathetic as the clerks at McDonald’s being made to upsell people to supersize their meals. They come across like used car salesman or vacuum cleaner salesman.
But what happened this morning, really got me angry. Right after I finished explaining to the clerk how I would appreciate it if they would drop the selling and treat me with respect, like a fellow human being, the manager, apparently having not heard us talking, walked over and tried to sell me something they have a special on! Amazing! I will never, ever, shop at AutoZone again the rest of my life!
There are lots of other options in the area: a couple blocks south at 1122 State St., a NAPA auto parts on 1300 S., just west of the 15 freeway, etc.

Everyone is tired at the end of the day, it’s during these moments when good customer service opportunities are lost or won. Unfortunately Autozone on 939 south state street in Salt Lake City lost this moment for a good or even satisfactory review. I purchased a #duralast Battery that failed. But because I had a friend help jump start my battery in order to eek my car down to #autozone I was at fault and told by a technician I should have brought my battery in by itself to receive a new battery since mine was under warranty. I purchased the warranty in case something like this would occur. I then asked this technician if I followed what he described tomorrow… To bring my battery in to the store in the morning *if it’s dead that I could expect to receive a fully charged battery? And his reply was «no.» I would have to get my alternator tested by them, and it too would have to pass an inspection before they would honor my battery warranty. And even upon further explanation from him it appeared that autozone would rather lose a customer than honor my purchased warranty. The technician was rude, tired, not helpful and even was rude to his other coworkers when asked for a tip about changing an alternator on another customers #toyota corolla. I will not be returning to this location and recommend you go to the other auto shop just a block away. Their battery was $ 10 more expensive for a comparable brand. I wonder if they would honor my warranty had I purchased from them?
