First of all, I hate going to the dentist. More than the drills and the shots, it’s the fear that they will tell me that my teeth are gross and I must have bad personal hygiene. But, setting aside my own personal insecurities… I have mixed feelings about my experience with Dr. Gleave. On one hand, I had a root canal done and it was actually one of the most fantastic experiences I’ve ever had. OK, that’s gotta be the laughing gas talking. But really, while it’s true my mouth was propped open obscenely wide with a plastic thingamajig and that’s never great, I also had a warm fuzzy blanket draped over me, a TV in the ceiling, and a remote in my hand as I reclined and dozed and sucked in the happy air. Not bad. On the other hand, once I went through all of that and paid an arm and a leg for it, at my follow up appointment he told me that I needed at least 5 more crowns. REALLY? Yes, I have some major fillings and they’re the old crappy silver kind. But 5 more? I might as well just get dentures now. My mouth is doing just fine. I haven’t been back for my additional fake teeth. They were all very friendly and nice and were really great to work with me on payments. They split it over 3 months without charging any interest fees and they often have a coupon that comes in the mail for new clients with a discount up front. All in all… a good experience, but I’ll be asking for a 2nd opinion.
