One of my local favs! Never a bad experience for me or my family. Been going here for years. Love their mexi fries. Small place but excellent food and people.

So far the best Mexican I can find here in salt lake, I’m from San Diego and nothing beats their Mexican food but chubby’s restaurant has at least satisfied the cravings so far and they carry beer so that’s rad.

I split the large combination with a friend. It was alright. Enchilada and tack were our favorite things. Nothing was amazingly delicious and I probably won’t be visiting again. A one and done place for me. Or food took a little while, but they were busy for cinco de mayo.

Best food ever. The servers not as outgoing and could work on that a little. Other than I have no criticisms great it’s a great place to eat! Highly recommmend.

This is right in my neighborhood and we get it all the time. The food is amazing, I have probably had the whole menu 10 times! They offer specials which are great, they have a great kids menu, and dessert menu. The staff is very friendly and always fast. Rather you dine in or take out you Get tons of great food :)

So, this place is a habit of mine. Friendly, low key spot right down the street. Changa’s or smothered burritos fit in as well as the ground beef tacos. Seat yourself and have a beer while waiting for that order.

sorry to say that when we went for a return visit last month, the food wasn’t up to par. sopapillas and flautas were greasy, green chili was bland. I still have fond memories of our trip back in 2009, but it isn’t the same.

The salsa comes in one of those big plastic containers. Whaaaa? That’s minus one star right there. The food itself is whatevs — it’s your average Mexican-American fare. Seems on the greasier side, which to me is kind of a plus, but still does not cancel out the lack of fresh salsa. Besides, the caldo de camaron tasted hella basic — it was like drinking watered down tomato juice with shrimp and broccoli. The dinery ambience is alright. I don’t care for diners personally, but some people do so I figured it was worth mentioning.

Sometimes you want cheesy comfort mexican food. This place fits that bill nicely. The chile verde is not very traditional, it’s more of a gravy. The food here is similar to La Frontera, La Puente, etc. Daily specials come with rice and beans. Come support a local, family owned business.

Came here with my dad last night for a late dinner and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The food was delicious! I got the shredded beef burrito with chili verde. He got the ground beef burrito with chili verde. The portions were great and the service was fantastic! The prices were great. It is nothing fancy but if you are in the mood for some legit burrito action, this is the place for you! DO order their chili verde… it was the BOMB!

A neighborhood Treasure. You’ll spend more money at other places out here but you’ll not get a better meal. Awesome ChileVerde plates Chubby Changas, combo plates that you’ll have to take part of home. And Guacamole fresh house made Guacamole.

Best Mexican food in Salt Lake. I used to live a block from the restaurant, and miss it so much.

Their Chicken Chubbychanga is still my go to meal. The Menudo, Posole and Guacamole are a must try. I followed them from their old place on Redwood Rd. it reminds me of the places I eat at when I go back home.

This was our first time here and the food didn’t disappoint. Everything tastes home made and very fresh. They start you off with very fresh chips and homemade salsa. We will definitely be back. How can you pass up a place called Chubby’s.

The place is a Neighborhood Treasure. Consistently good food friendly staff. And they’re active in supporting the neighborhood sponsoring ball teams etc Want to rave about other places closer to town go ahead. But drive a little farther north and west into the hood and get the real deal at the neighborhood price! Only better chile verde is at my sisters house…

Food is still amazing! The service was extremely slow this last visit. I remember it being a lot quicker the past times. Even when we went up to check out we we’re waiting for quite some time. I also got a taste of the smothered shredded beef burrito this time. I suggest getting the red sauce rather than the Chili Verde it comes with. The red sauce is a little more adventurous on your taste buds. The beans and rice on the side are extra but I believe it’s worth the investment, delicious!

Service was good, they were very attentive to our needs. You can tell they are really trying to be helpful. Very nice server and they kept our water glasses full. I would give them a 4-star on service alone. The location was cute and dainty, somewhat dated, but very clean. This would get a 3-star. Portion size was very good, I left the place with a full stomach. Now the food, oh boy, this was disappointing. Average, at best. The place was packed with white, middle-aged people enjoying their Americanized Tex-Mex food. When you arrive they serve you a(cereal-sized) bowl of chips and a bowl of salsa. Well, not exactly salsa, it was just plain hot sauce from a can. I had a couple of tastes of it and just couldn’t stomach any more. It tasted of tomato sauce with red chili pepper flakes. Very acidic and hard to eat. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros. My plate had a slice of ham(the cheap kind you get at the grocery store for less than two bucks a pound), two eggs topped with salsa verde, and refried beans. The ham tasted just like you expected it to, store-bought and lacking flavors. The eggs were cooked perfectly but the green salsa didn’t have any flavor to it. The refried beans also lacked flavor. The two flour tortillas that came with it were thicker than usual and were not fresh, they had been microwaved. There was no fluffiness to them, they were crumbly and eventually got hard as a rock because it was microwaved. Lots of food, very little taste. I feel bad giving them a bad review because they were so nice but I have to be honest about what I tasted there.
