Community Cooperative Nursery School CCNS

My main concern prior to when we selected CCNS was that it would not provide the curriculum for my children to excel academically at the next level. As most parents I spoke with, I was also concerned that my children would not be prepared for the ELP testing. Now looking back, CCNS prepared my children for ELP testing in ways that I could not have anticipated or appreciated at the time. CCNS also gave them a great appreciation for real life math and reading that has extended far beyond the simple learning of the skills. I now believe that it is far easier to create a great reader from a child who appreciates the story than from one who just learned the skill early. Both of my children are currently in the Spanish Emersion ELP program at Emerson Elementary along with a number of their former CCNS classmates. They are both currently reading at levels 4 to 5 grades above their current grade level and do their math homework because they enjoy it rather than just to finish it. CCNS seems to consistently place a far greater percentage of their students into the ELP program than the statistics of the program would allow given a random sample. Also, the interpersonal skills with both their peers and with adults that my children acquired at CCNS have and will continue to help them well into the future. I am very satisfied with the decision I very reluctantly made five years ago. I love the place and have also met parents who have become very close personal friends.

I LOVE this preschool. I have the chance to co-​op in the classroom and get to know other parents, kids and my child’s teacher. It has a fun community feel. And it has a history of over 50 years with teachers that have been there for 30 years!!!
