Best dim sum in the intermountain west. Stick to the hong-kong style stuff as the Shanghai dumplings were not as good. Simon was our server and made excellent recommendations. Great value for money for dinner. We will be coming back the next time we’re in SLC.

Avoid if you’re vegetarian. I ordered tofu appetizer. It tasted of fish, was cold, and inedibly salty. The menu said ‘baked’, but it was clearly deep fried. Service was marginal to poor. The other dishes arrived in no organized fashion. The rice was dry and tasted stale.

Took my family here for my niece and nephew’s graduation dinner. We made a reservation as there were 20 of us. This wasn’t a busy night at all but here is how awful it was: –They tried to give one of our tables away to another group. –It took 25 minutes to get menus at ONE of our tables. –Another 15 to get drinks(waters). –We had to go find the rude waiter, Simon, to take our orders. He finally came in another 10 minutes. –He then only took orders for ONE of our tables even though we told him several times we are all together. –First table was almost finished eating when our other table finally got their order taken. –When my brother asked for a box, Simon told him to order something else next time! –And when we were getting ready to leave and hugging each other goodbye, Simon came over and told us we needed to leave!!! I really like this place and we never get good service by anyone but the owner but this was absolutely UNACCEPTABLE! I don’t think we will be back after this.

I’m usually really happy with this place because they had have the Peking spare ribs that I love, but I came here with a couple of my friends recently and I was not very impressed. I decided to let my friend order since I wanted to try something new and I have to say that some of their other dishes isn’t the best. What they do best: Peking spare ribs, shrimp chow fun with curry, steak cube French style. The Peking spare ribs is made perfectly. The sauce is a perfect amount of sweetness and the spareribs are tender. They also get the color right and it is just wonderous when you put it in your mouth. The other thing I really like is the steak cube French style. It’s nice and tender and seasoned very well. I also enjoy the shrimp chow fun with curry. The shrimp is extremely fresh and the curry over the chow fun makes it so that the chow fun isn’t too dry. It’s also made in a way that you can add satay sauce(chili oil) and red wine vinegar, so you can eat it the way you’d like! :) What I wasn’t impressed with: Clam with black bean sauce, shrimp ball mushroom with tofu in hot pot, and wonton soup(for 2) Big warning: my friend ordered the wonton soup for 2 and she said for 2 and they gave us two orders of it. So it was for 4 people. So if you don’t want extra wonton soup and pay an extra $ 8 for no reason, just order it as «wonton soup.» Okay let’s start with the wonton soup… I really enjoyed the noodles. It was nice and chewy. But i was extremely unimpressed by the wontons. The meat seemed like it had a frozen taste. I understand that sometimes you just have to freeze things so they don’t go bad, but it was upsetting for it to be so apparent when I bit into it. Clams with black bean sauce — the sauce was good, but the clams were not cleaned very well and it seems like they weren’t very fresh. I understand that we are in slc and its hard to get fresh clams, but these ones were just not the best. Also it seems like they were super messy when they were cooking it because there were just broken clam shell chunks inside another clam shell. It was not fun when you were eating a clam and you find a clam shell chunk under your clam meat. Shrimp ball, mushroom with tofu in hot pot These were ordered under the impression that the shrimp balls would be made with fresh shrimp, but when I bit into it. It was a shrimp paste and starchy kind of ball. Since it is a paste in ball form, I couldn’t justify the price so I was not very happy with this dish. But if you are a fan of paste in ball form, it’s not too bad since it is pretty fresh. On the other hand, I really enjoyed the bean curd and the sauce. The sauce was made really well and I would put it on top of my rice to eat with everything! :) Mixed feelings — beef chow fun I had mixed feelings about this. I’m not really a fan of beef chow fun, so I can’t review on this. But based on what I know and have had in the past, I feel like this beef chow fun was a little dry to be beef chow fun. But the beef was nice and tender, which I enjoyed :)

Service is still a weak spot but if you come in on a weekend morning /afternoon it doesn’t matter too much. During these rush times they’ve got a lot more staff on, and since the carts roll through on a regular basis it’s hard to go hungry. Dim Sum is still very good, especially for SLC, and the variety is tremendous. They’ve got a free egg roll offer for checking in on Unilocal but we never got ours. Come on Norman! Speaking of Norman… The guy to talk with here is named Norman. His English is good, and he’s motivated to take care of you most of the time. Otherwise, if you don’t speak Mandarin it can be tough to get what you want. More, if you happen to be white I suspect they sometimes avoid you on purpose so you don’t try asking for stuff.

We were surprised about how big the place was when we entered. We loved how the ceiling was high – giving people some air to breathe especially when it gets too warm and stuffy. The dim sums come out in carts and go around tables so that customers can choose what they want to eat. They also give you a menu if you want other dishes from the restaurant, which is also nice when you want to try noodle/chicken/soup/vegetable/seafood dishes. The hot tea is also very nice and waiters constantly come to refill the pots. The noise level is average, but when the place gets packed(like heavily on most occasions), it does get a bit crazy. I just thought it was funny how almost every dim sum is mainly made of shrimp. The dim sums taste great but don’t expect to find a different kind of meat within other dim sums.

I’ve known the owner for quite a while. Norman. From Hong Kong he is super friendly and worth meeting. He was a principal behind Sampan and their success. Dim Sum House is far better. Excellent dim sum at a great price. Can feed a family of 6 at $ 60. Food is always fresh. Regular menu food is also very delicious with beef with flat noodles being a favorite. Highly recommended.

I’m always excited when I walk into an Asian restaurant and I’m the only Caucasian there. That usually means the food is authentic and good. My rule of thumb held good at Dim Sum House. The har gow and shrimp with pea shoot dumplings were sublime! The West Lake beef soup was excellent. The xiao lung bao were good but not quite as juicy as I would have liked. The potstickers were very good. The rice roll and baodzi were also tasty. One sour note. I got there about 11:30 a.m. for an early lunch. Clean Air Act notwithstanding, the place smelled like people had smoked indoors there, though none were visibly doing it in the dining area. My shirt smelled vaguely of stale tobacco smoke all afternoon.

I came in to Dim Sum House during lunch because it’s close to the place I get my oil changed. It wasn’t very busy, probably about 4 other parties in the restaurant. I got seated really quickly and the service throughout was excellent. This is the first dim sum experience I’ve had, so when I looked at the menu I didn’t recognize or know a lot of the items on the menu. I ordered a few things, knowing I’d have left overs to take home. When I got my dishes, they didn’t look super appetizing, but I was still excited to try something new. Long story short: I wasn’t super impressed. I got the pork buns, the pork rice soup, shrimp rice roll, and the pot stickers. I liked the pot stickers best, but they weren’t anything special. Good, but similar to other places I usually go. The pork buns were my second favorite, but also, nothing super tasty that I would take friends back with me to try next time. The shrimp rice rolls just tasted like shrimp with rice dough in a salty sauce, not a ton of flavor. And lastly the rice soup. Also pretty bland, not awesome. Maybe this is typical for dim sum, but the flavors weren’t anything special and it all seemed pretty bland. So, it might just be my personal taste, but I wasn’t too stoked on this place. Maybe I need to go with people who know what to order.

I’m so glad we found a different and new Dim sum restaurant. It’s actually clean, you know, for a Chinese restaurant. You laugh but it’s true. Located right on State street the location is super convenient. The atmosphere is open and spacious, the dim sum is brought out on steam carts, rolled to your table, you choose what looks tasty and enjoy! The food was par for for the course and the service was as attentive as possible for how busy it was on a Sunday afternoon. Simple and just right, we’ll be back.

I love dim sum! And a whole place dedicated to dim sum? A must! They don’t always push dim sum carts around, it actually ends at 2 on Sundays which is disappointing. Overall recommend for tasty dim sum.

We went in knowing little to nothing about Dim Sum. Mostly we knew they were served as little appetizers. Sort of an asian tapas experience. We weren’t too far from the idea, but the things that are offered were definitely not something we imagined. We go in, the place is quite empty(went for lunch on a weekday), the owner(or at least seemed like he was), told us about dim sum and asked us if it was okay if he took over the ordering of the dim sum, since we weren’t fully educated about it. We agreed, and got all sorts of excited. After 10 minutes, I would say, we were entertained with 5 – 6 different plates of pork buns, gyoza, shrimp and pork items covered in rice dough, steamed and fried options, etc. Wooooooooof. To be honest, it was really fun. He tried to hit all the best sellers while showing us a plethora of choices, I’m sure. I was scared with some items with some mystery meat I couldn’t recognize what it was, and there are some items that feel a bit viscous but that’s just how they are, but overall it was so cool and fun and TASTY for sure. Also, maybe more veggies in the Dim Sum could be nice, because after all that we ate we felt quite heavy, but oh so happy. Prices are pretty good. We spent about 40⁄50 with tip(20%) included with about 6 – 8 different dim sum plates. Not bad at all.

Before knowing this place, i used to come to the New Golden Dragon but now this place is my favorite dimsum place. The restaurant is clean, organize, spacious compare to other Hong Kong dimsum places. Their foods are variety as well. Their severs are attentive and focus on us. They are nice and super helpful. Their foods are not as oily or make me uncomfortable after eating. Strongly recommend.

SOIMPRESSED with Dim Sum House. The restaurant itself is very pretty. A lot of effort has obviously been made in the restoration of the building. The service left something to be desired, but the food couldn’t have been better. My friend ordered an entrée that came out almost immediately. Broccoli & beef somethingrather. He really enjoyed it. I belatedly realized there is a Unilocal check-in offer and redeemed it with the hostess, as our waiter seemed to studiously avoid us. They came out a few minutes later. I’m not a huge fan of eggrolls, generally speaking, but these were really good! We waited around 15 minutes for our dim sum, which had obviously been freshly prepared. We ordered bbq pork buns, pork shu mai, shrimp & cilantro dumplings, and pot stickers off of an extensive list the was presented along with the menus. I loved all of them and am excited to try a few more next time I go! My friend and I are talkers, which is lucky, because our check came(delivered by the hostess) roughly 30 minutes after we had finished eating. After bringing our food, the waiter disappeared again, and though we noticed him across the restaurant cleaning tables, he never came within shouting distance. That aforementioned check, though? $ 25 for BOTH of us. So cheap! Will definitely be coming back here.

This is my go-to spot for dim sum since its first opening. I really appreciate how they serve dim sum all day and even on weekdays. I’ve tried both their dim sum and family entrees. Both are great. Venue is also large so it can accomodate large parties and I’ve never had to wait long for seating. Their dim sum and congee(rice porridge) with preserved egg soups are made to order on weekdays. Their sui mai is juicy and flavorful. Their rice rolls with shrimp are just the right texture. Their congee with preserved eggs could use a little more egg but has the perfect texture and temperature. I also love the wontons they put in their congee. Most times the flavor is plentiful but the last time I had it, it was a bit bland, so consistency could be improved. I love their holiday spirit. When I’ve gone here during Valentine’s weekend, they would make complimentary heart shaped marshmallows. For Christmas, they had a cute Christmas tree with notes customers can write on and place on the tree as ornaments. Overall, come here hungry and with a large party so you can stuff yourself with a huge variety of fresh food! Tip: they do take out and you can order on the Unilocal app or 24eat!

Dim Sum House is worthy of an update and a boost in stars due to my most recent visit. We came for an early thanksgiving brunch right when they opened. I wanted dim sum and that’s exactly what I got. Everything we had was super fresh or made to order if we didn’t see it brought around in the carts. Because there were only a couple occupied tables, service was very prompt and friendly. My favorites were the salt baked squid, BBQ pork buns, shrimp and chives dumplings and fried pork buns.

Have you ever heard of the«Dim Sum Chant»? Simple say, ‘dim sum’ 3 times, click your heels, and you’ll be teleported to Dim Sum House. Don’t believe me? Try it(drive there first, then do it)! A place that serves dim sum all day, with a lot of the food and drinks that you grow up with(either as someone with Chinese descent, or hanging around a few of them), this place hit the spot. I uploaded a photo of the FIRST round of food me and my friends demolished. Following that, we embezzled more into the lucrative Dim Sum carts that squeaked their way around the room, engaging in second, third, and a death locked fourth round. Needless to say, there was no room left after the feast… . except for dessert. Remember — there’s always room for dessert. See you again soon, Dim Sum House!

Excellent authentic dim sum in Salt Lake. Place was big and spacious — had no problem bringing the baby in on a sat afternoon. There was a good variety of dishes coming through. Everything we ordered was delicious and cooked perfect. The desserts are totally worth saving room for — loved the egg white and ginger custard with puff pastry. The steamed ginger tripe was perfectly cooked, lots of ginger, tender and clean tasting. Fans of tofu jelly won’t be disappointed… A great place for both a newbie and an experienced dim sum lover. Service is very nice. Had to remind about a forgotten drink but totally no biggie! Will be regulars for sure! This place gets my 4.5 stars!

I can’t believe I have never written a review for this place yet. This is a really good place to go to for authentic Chinese food. I would mostly come here for dinner, but their weekend dim sum is actually very delicious. My favorite dish they serve here is their Peking duck. The dishes isn’t that expensive especially if you are sharing it with friends and family. We usually order a bunch of food and have it family style. Their steam fish is also very fresh and delicious. The dim sum is only served during the weekend. If you go right as they open which is 10:30 for brunch it is super fresh and steamy hot. The dim sum service here is good. They do come every now and then to make sure everything is alright and ask if you want more food. I do highly recommend this place. The manager is very friendly and all. Another thing that is great about this place is that they do offer you a dessert soup.

Great alternative to my family’s number one choice of Hoho Gourmet! Decided on this place since it was my birthday and I wanted Asian style seafood! This was a Wednesday evening around 7:00PM. Not very many people but the restaurant is very spacious which could be the reason it seemed quiet. Food: 90. Beef Chow Fun($ 8.95) — Great flavor for a great price. Compared to most other restaurants, this wasn’t too oily which I prefer. C22. Stir Fried On Choy($ 13.95) — This was a little bland, not much flavor especially compared to Hoho’s version of the dish. interesting price for quality. C13. Clam w/Black Bean Sauce($ 12.95) — Great flavor, I really enjoyed this. Plus, clams were big and not grainy. S1. Lobster w/Ginger & Green Onion Flavor(Market Price) — I’m not sure how much exactly since my dad took care of the tab. This was also pretty good but Hoho’s ginger and green onion sauce is better in my opinion S7. Ginger & Green Onion Braised Crab(Market price) — Same flavor as the lobster. Good and fresh crab meat. We ordered two lobsters and one crab. They came out to tell us that they started on the crab with ginger instead of the original Salt Pepper we requested. We said it’s okay and decided to have one of the lobsters with the Salt and Pepper flavor. Sad because I would choose this over the ginger for the crab. UGH. but still good. They brought us «complimentary» soup to start our meal along with red bean dessert at the end. I don’t remember them offering these things the first time I went but my dad guessed it was because of the large tab… haha? Our waiter came short of filling up our water since we went through the rest of the meal without it. service is a MEH. Would definitely come back to try other dishes.
