This is my favorite place to go in downtown Salt Lake City. I love the food, the servers and the atmosphere. The baked goods are fabulous! The lemon tart is particularly excellent. It has great meringue and lemon flavor. I also loved the golden beet and avocado toast. The texture combination of the thick, crusty toast and the sweeter and smoother texture of the beets and avocados was a great contrast. I have never seen my 19 year old son inhale his meal(stuffed French toast) so fast. My wife loved the pear and arugula salad and the frittata.

This review is entirely based on service, which was lacking. Since I have a gluten allergy I can only eat one item on the menu and have their drinks. People seem to love their food and the too cool for school hipster environment. When I have had the gluten-free chocolate cake it was sub-par at best and fell apart. The walnut tea was interesting, but I never decided if I liked it or not. On the most recent visit I spent about $ 40 on breakfast for co-workers. The staff was annoyed that we were there and asked about our items, one of which was ordered but never rang up. So after paying I had to pay again, that was no big deal. The attitude was the worst part. I was not a very demanding customer and still managed to get eyes rolled at me. I’m so sorry to interrupt. I know you must be very stressed trying to be a model/struggling artists/mind of the new generation. *Eye Roll* When your only job is customer service I think you should take it seriously. I have no reason to visit this establishment and I won’t in the future.

One of the few places open on Sunday. I ordered quiche which came with a small portion of greens and potatoes. It was perfect and I especially liked that the eggs, were not overcooked. My husband order a steak sandwich which came with a small side of potatoes. The steak was cooked medium and the bread fresh. He loved it. We also ordered a side of onion soup which we did not finish as it was not very good. The lattes were nicely prepared but could have been warmer. We will return the next time we are in SLC.

Ok, I’m torn about my star rating. The quality of food is 5 stars, the service is 2, so I ended up at 4. Yes, I know that doesn’t average out but food quality is more important than service, esp. when takeout is an option. If you go and get take-out, than this place is a 5. Sitting down will most likely make you not want to come back here again as the service is incredibly slow. That said, some people don’t mind slow service, so if you’ve got some time to burn, or want to have an extremely leisurely conversation with an old friend, than this place might not be a bad spot to hit. I’ll come back here again because their breads are to die for, but I’ll most likely call in my order and get it to go. Their bakery is actually quite amazing and worth visiting.

Cute café for all of your pastry and breakfast/lunch needs! Stopped by around 8am on a Saturday for breakfast. Only a handful tables were occupied, but by the time we left, it was much busier. Decided to split an almond croissant and brunch flatbread with my husband. The croissant was quite large, and flaky, but not as soft as I prefer. Almond filling was good. The brunch flatbread was delicious and also large. Definitely big enough for 2 people, maybe even a 3rd. It was like eating a croquet madame in pizza form. Though not on the menu, I ordered a hot chocolate, so just a heads up that it is an option if you’re not big on coffee nor in a tea mood. Service was quick and friendly enough. I say that only because we weren’t acknowledged for the first few minutes and it being our first time there, weren’t sure whether we order at the counter, seat ourselves, etc. Easily found parking right out front.

Eva’s Bakery is too charming for words, but I’ll words my best. Bakeries and boulangeries are my favorite haunts for their reliable place to grab a cup of coffee, pastry, and unwind in a pleasant atmosphere. It was a relief to find this one downtown. Pastries and coffee only do so much for an appetite and I decided to forego my usual wariness of prepared, refridgerated sandwiches and asked for their salmon sandwich. Paired with a very light herbed cream cheese, it was a nice variation of lox on bagels that wasn’t the cold, hard and old meal I feared it would be. I almost went for another, but decided for a second of their excellent eclairs. For other ethical omnivores, Eva’s also works with local farms and businesses, and I was happy to see their bread baskets were almost empty. They’re clearly doing well with locals and not producing so much to be wasteful, which I wish more American businesses would follow. A specific shout-out to the wonderful baristas Yasha and Chantell for recommending loads of places for me to check out based on my tastes and introducing me to one of their friends who frequents the place. As someone who leans more towards indoorsy and introverted, these two were terrific hosts to get me out of my habits and see what the city had to offer. Eva’s will undoubtedly be my first and frequent stop when I return to Salt Lake.

I had the best experience here this morning! I needed a latte but was also hungry and didn’t have time to go to two different places so I decided to give Eva’s a try. It is uncommon for a place to have both excellent espresso and delicious food, but this place pulls it off. The espresso was perfection(creamy, smooth, well rounded flavors) and the veggie quiche was so satisfying. Perfect portion sizes and complex(but not overbearing flavors) left me feeling satiated and full without weighing me down. I am definitely looking forward to my next visit. Thank you Eva’s!

3.5 stars. It’s a cute place, and the croque-madame I got wasn’t bad, but I still prefer the croque-madame I’ve gotten at the Nordstrom Café before(sadly it’s no longer offered). And — this is the biggest faux pas ever — I tried their salted caramel macarons and it didn’t taste anything like salted caramel. I couldn’t even describe it… I think it was tasted more like brownie or something like that. Not sure if their other macarons are worth having either.

Came in thirteen minutes before closing — so take this review(and the bread) with a grain of salt. Maybe some sandwich fillings. Tried the walnut-herb bread and attempted to pick something up from the day-old basket. The bread was quite good, with flaky crisp crust and nice tender-chewy bite. The crumb was perfect, with well-developed structure and a nice bubbly texture. It’d be a great loaf for dipping in olive oil and eating with a slice of salami… except that the taste is pretty bland. There’s at best hint of dill or maybe sourdough. As it stands, the loaf really needs to be made into a sandwich, though the large holes could make it a bit drippy. So the bread is very good, a bit better than an artisan loaf at the supermarket, but at six bucks with tax(seven if you’re not miserly with the prominent tip jar) it’s not really worth writing home about. Turns out that nothing in the half-price basket was half-priced — at least, not right before closing. The day’s old pastries go there at some unspecified time, and they’re not discounted until the morning, which is weird and kind of disappointing. Service was pleasant enough. I might have to stop by earlier in the day — it’d be nice to find a closer place to pick up a loaf on my way home from work. But, at least after 5, the extra couple of blocks to Vosens is definitely worth it.

I really liked this cute little place! It has such a fun atmosphere. It is fairly small, but it is decorated super cute and was a really fun place to have lunch. And our waiter was top notch! I wish I could remember his name… but he was really good! I had one of the chicken salads, and I really enjoyed it. The candied walnuts are killer. It might have been a littttttle bit overpriced, but it was still really good. The people I was with all really liked there food too. The breakfast looked delicious too. I for sure would recommend this if you are in the mood for a lighter lunch! It is great and a super fun and cute restaurant.

Eva’s is absolutely adorable-the décor is perfect from the outside, in. It’s bright, colorful, and easy to spot on Main St. in downtown Salt Lake City. The full bakery case in the morning is something made of Parisian dreams – the croissants are huge and baked to perfection. It’s hard to go wrong with all the different pastries. You can also grab lunch on the go from the case, or sit down in the café for breakfast or lunch! My personal favorite is the chocolate croissant. Eva’s is unlike any other spot in SLC.

Honestly I wasn’t impressed with this bakery especially with all of the great reviews. Let me start off with dine in. It is quite confusing because it is very small restaurant but we didn’t know if we could just grab a seat or wait to be seated. The waitresses were all standing around before they finally helped us. We were going to have mimosas with our breakfast but according to Utah law, no establishment can sell or provide alcohol before 11am, CRAZY! Lol Instead, I had their cappuccino which was a decent cup, but I’ve had better. I ordered their French toast stuffed with blueberries while my fiancée ordered a sandwich from the display case. My fiancée and I were quite disappointed with the sandwich. We don’t remember the name as he just picked one that looked appetizing from the display case. We were disappointed because it was dry with no condiments and it wasn’t even toasted or warmed up either. My stuffed French toast was pretty good but it was very sweet. I couldn’t finish it all as it was just too overwhelmingly sweet. Then the service to get our check and pay took us a very long time. We tried getting our waitress’ attention but she kept walking past us. Overall, I don’t think we’ll be dining in anymore; however, I’d be ok to come back in for a baked good in their display case if ever I were to come back to salt lake.

Honestly, consider me a little unimpressed from my encounter here because it was seriously underwhelming. I had read SO much about this place and people always sing its praises, but I didn’t think this was the best bakery I’ve been to on my lifelong hunt for macarons. The macarons were slightly more expensive than my regular bakery at $ 2.25 a pop. They were good, but the staff could hardly explain what the flavors were and wouldn’t even try to describe some of them like the Grasshopper. I didn’t know what that flavor was and the guy was TOTALLY disinterested and told me: «It’s Grasshopper.» Yes, I know, I can read. The service was what really blew me off about the place. They were all so blasé over my being there. They couldn’t have cared less even though I spent quite a pretty penny on a bunch of macarons. Probably wouldn’t go back purely because of the rude attitude I received.

Best atmosphere — it is SO cute and every little clashing detail comes together to create a completely adorable space Amazing treats — if you can get past the cases filled with picturesque pastries and finally pick one, you won’t be disappointed Good drinks — they get me the vanilla latte I’m craving HIGHLYRECOMMENDED!

Loved the French onion soup. The Gruyère was so tasty, and the soup was rustic and sweet. The croissant was really delicious, as well. Great ambience, great service. In fact, when the server refilled my friend’s coffee, she checked to see if it was hot enough. I’ve never seen a server do that before, oddly enough. More servers should.

A little piece of Paris in SLC. I was in town for a conference and desperate to find a good place to spend some time and grab a bite before heading to the airport. I had gorged all week on mediocre conference food and did not want to waste my last meal. Feeling studious, I decided to check out Eva’s, as its bright blue storefront had beckoned to me multiple times already during my walks through town. First day I arrived, I had also seen a photo shoot taking place with the bakery as the backdrop and was immediately intrigued. I decided to order a veggie quiche with a cappuccino. The capuccino was nice and creamy, just how I like it. The quiche… I have no words. Ok, some words. It was one of the best quiches I have ever tasted. It was lighter than most, with a more delicate texture to the egg. The potatoes that came as a side were also well seasoned and delicious. I was not disappointed and definitely coming back next time I am in town. Thanks Unilocalers for leading me once again to an awesome find!

3 stars overall. Croque Madame(3.5 stars): The egg was not runny! They use the ham and cheese sandwich that’s already made and sitting out and just cook an egg to throw on top. Meh. Hate when the yolks aren’t runny! Stuffed French Toast(3.5 stars): This you should get if you come here. Although mine was pretty burnt. I was already so hungry so I just ate it, but I’m sure if it wasn’t burnt it would be a lot better. The lemon cream cheese filling was great. Baguette with butter(4 stars): Good bread, pretty hard on the ends though so not sure how fresh it was. Our waitress accidentally stuck her finger in our butter when she brought it over. She grabbed a few packaged butter cubes for us instead but would have been nice if she brought back the same butter that came in the plate since it was salted. SERVICE(3.5 stars) Overall they are all nice but we had to call them over to get help a couple times. Our waitress brought back the wrong dish and said I ordered something different… which I know I did not since I wouldn’t just order a ham sandwich. No one really checked in with is often. ATMOSPHERE(3 stars) I can see that they are trying to make it cute with decorations and tables but the tables near the front are super tiny! Also what is up with Utah and rounded chair backs?! You can never keep your purse on those! I guess more ladies in LA have the big purses though, haha.
