I wish I could give them one more star but it was pretty disappointing. The gravy was watered down and lacking on flavor. The cheese chunk was soild and not melty. The only thing that was excellent was the fries. Crispy outside and soft and moist inside! I hope they will improve soon.

The boy and I are poutine fiends. The Gravy Train Poutine truck delivered. I got the Original and he got the All-American. The Original had fries smothered in actual cheese curds(the only place I know of in Salt Lake that uses actual cheese curds). The gravy was rich and peppery. We wish the fries had been crispier but they sat for 10 minutes while my boyfriend raced home so they may have just gotten soggy in that time. For $ 7, it was a huge serving. The All-American came with tater tots, sausage, and gravy. This reminds me of Bourbon House, and was similarly delicious. Also $ 7. I think the price point is great(some food trucks are too pricey), and the idea is so wonderfully simple that I wish I had come up with it myself. We are definitely coming back!

Fries + Cheese + Gravy = Heaven. That’s pretty much all you need to know. But for those of you who require a little more. The Gravy Train Poutinerie is SLC’s newest food truck, and I and all my Canadian friends are so happy that they’ve graced our fair city with their presence. Poutine is perfect for a freezing cold day like today. Fresh cut piping hot crispy fries, topped with cheese curds and steaming gravy. Mmmmmm delicious. Right now you have the option of three types of poutine: traditional, All american(tater tots, cheese curds, sausage gravy, and a fried egg), and the phili(fries, peppers, onions, aged cheddar and gravy). Also available are sliders topped with cheese curds and fries with a side of gravy. They didn’t have any chili options today but I think it’s a pretty regular item on their menu. I had the traditional and loved it. Everything melded perfectly together, it was freshly made, the gravy was flavorful without being too salty, the fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I desperately want to go back and try the all american with fries instead of tater tots because in the battle of the potato fries are the clear winner. The guys working the truck were friendly and the service was fast. I saw a sign that said drink $ 1.50 but I’m not sure what your options are. They accept credit cards and pretty much everything is $ 7. Don’t let the idea of fries and gravy scares you it’s DELICIOUS!
