The food was ok, some interesting flavors and combinations, but overall everything was a little overcooked and dried out. I had the salmon dish. I liked the chili sauce and the vegetables, bu the salmon was almost jerky like, and the potatoes likewise. the service was extremely sloooow, it took over half an hour for the dessert to come out. We were there about 2 hours, most of which was spent waiting. We only ordered an entrée and dessert, so do the math… I wouldn’t go back.

Most of the«good» reviews I’ve seen here are from last year, I’m wondering what happened this year to make it soooo awful. Our service was fine. The food took awhile to come out to us which was fine since we were just relaxing. Went there a few weeks ago for a late lunch with my boyfriend after a morning on the slopes. I ordered the Croque Monsier sandwich and he ordered the Bison burger(the«special» of the day). My sandwich was open faced, and COVERED in melted cheese, just way too much. Very boring cheese too, nothing to write home about. The whole thing was overly salted and bland aside from that, with an over abundance of mustard all over it. My boyfriend’s burger was also bland and had just a weird combination of flavors that did not work well together at all. Sysco food at it’s finest, absolutely nothing special. Neither of us finished our meals. I did have a drink from their bar, it was a spiked hot chocolate of some sort. It was pretty good, but I wouldn’t go all the way to Kimi’s just for a drink. The ambiance was a weird mix of log cabin lodge and bad coffee shop art and Italian/Tuscan color schemes. Very schizophrenic for something called a Mountainside Bistro. They need to streamline their décor. They also discontinued the brunch buffet for the wintertime, according to our server.(We asked because it seemed like a great deal!) So all the other reviewers writing about the buffet may have liked it, but I will never get to try it out. We also learned that Kimi’s is not owned by Solitude, but that they are leasing the space from the resort. So basically, we have no reason to support Kimi’s. If it were Solitude-owned I would have given it another shot, but really I don’t care. I wish I would have spent my money in Moonbeam Lodge at the Argenta pub. Better food, cheaper and a more fun atmosphere.

Buffet. Quite possibly my most and least favorite word regarding food. Typically, buffets can be hit or miss, low or high quality, and cheap or expensive. But when the word«brunch» comes into the mix regarding this elusive dining experience we call buffet, it all becomes something beautiful. And unfortunately, a bit on the pricey side, but if you find yourself at Kimi’s, it’s well worth it.(And if you’re cheap like I am, you jumped on the groupon deal a while back and are patting yourself on the back right now for such a wise purchase). Anyways, here’s why you need to go here for a weekend brunch as opposed to say a sunday brunch buffet at Little America: — rather than $ 30, you pay $ 18. — the smoked salmon was amazing, seasoned perfectly and not too salty — belgian waffle station, something about food tastes better when you add belgian in the front(i.e., chocolate, waffles, frites, etc.) — fireside omelet bar has everything you could ever want in an omelet, and more, things you’ve never even thought to put in an omelet. — being outside makes fruit salad taste better. — dairy products are better when they come in a jar. — ambience: sorry, kind of dimly lit ballroom with old chandeliers does not beat the backdrop of Big Cottonwood Canyon in the summertime, or any time for that matter. The downside: Again, I’m cheap, drinks here are insanely priced. Orange Juice = $ 4, small hot chocolate = $ 4.50, mimosas and other drinks ~$ 9. And I don’t have another groupon to use here, but it’s completely worth it.

Wow. An amazing dining experience just off the mountain. They treat you right and the food was unlike anything I have had before.

Went up here for a nice Saturday morning breakfast after proposing to my girlfriend. The hostess was nice and seated us. We were the only people in there at 9:00 on a Saturday morning. While we ate no one else ever came in. It actually made it pretty romantic to have the place to ourselves watching the people ski out the window. The food was all excellent. The chef prepared omelletes and brought them to our table. The side dishes were all good and the baked good were excellent. The service, decore, and food were all top notch. For $ 15 for a nice brunch, I found it a good value.

I bought one livingsocial coupons for drinks and food worth $ 50 and you know you can’t pass up a deal like that. I typically dine where the groupon/living social deals are these days. I went with my parents for a Sunday late lunch. Since it is ski season, it wasn’t as spooky to go to because lot of people were around but if it was cloudy and no one around… the place is a little like twin peaks to me. It’s like this fake town when you go in and a little difficult to find in my point of view. Inside it is cosy. One thing I always try to remind myself is to go in with low expectations because it can only go up from there. Since we were so behind schedule trying to find the place, we just ordered straight to entrée. My father ordered a sandwich but I don’t remember what kind. I want to say salmon but it doesn’t seem to appear on their menu on their website. My mother ordered aglio e olio pasta and I ordered margherita pizza. The food came very quickly and was very glad we didn’t order any appetizers because the portions were bigger than we expected(especially the pasta). Just think like Olive Garden portions… if not more? Anyways, the food was better than expected. Everything was pretty much on the dot except the pizza. The pizza was nice and crispy but it was way too salty for my taste. It’s a nice place to take your mother for Mother’s Day and to take a guest from out of town to show them the beauty of the Rocky Mountains and enjoy great food at the same time.

04.03.10 first visit ambience A located in creekside at solitude ski resort. backdrop of beautiful mountains, and skiers on the hill — what could be better? service B+ good service. but not great. food A the brunch buffet is wonderful. at $ 15 per person, this particular brunch is a steal. pancakes with lingonberries and honey butter(they also have blueberry preserves and a VERY deliciously silky caramel whipped cream) instead of their usual swedish heart waffles, they offered the pancakes, which were so delicious. i don’t really like pancakes all that much, but when they are light and subtly moist like these pancakes, i can eat two or three without a second thought. deviled eggs with dill and arugula we were expecting their standard caviar eggs but got these instead. maybe they ran out before we arrived at 11:30 am. disappointing. that said, these eggs were a nice substitute for the standard fried or scrambled eggs. i wonder if they do a poached egg on occasion? tomato gratin possibly my 2nd favorite part of the brunch. olive oil, garlic and parmesan cheese sprinkled over tomatoes is a real treat. such a slightly sweet and oh so savory way to make tomatoes shine. petite mint fruit salad a decent fruit salad. apples, oranges, musk melon, cantaloupe and ripped mint. fireside omelettes omelettes made to order at the buffet. here is the list of toppings: mushrooms, bell pepper, green onion, prosciutto, arugula, bacon, sausage, tomato, jarlsberg(cheese), marinated feta, kalamata olives, and béchamel sauce. i opted with 2 omelettes. 1. green onion and jarlsberg. 2. prosciutto, arugula, tomato, jarlsberg, and kalamata olives. there is nothing better than a freshly made omelette that is done just right. the melted cheese on my omelette was like silk, and the green onion added that subtle savory kick. the other omelette was good, but i love simplicity without all the confusion of flavors. applewood smoked bacon good, but wasn’t the highlight of the brunch. homemade sausage balls doesn’t hold up to the rest of the brunch. decent. i had some type of muffin which was delicious. a bit dry for my taste, however, with great blueberry preserves, and honey butter, it was just fine. overall: A– a solid 4 star brunch. not everything was perfect, however, it’s meals like these that get me excited about the culinary industry. the whole experience was relaxing, delicious, and new, and left a very positive impression. i’m definitely visiting kimi’s bistro again.
