I wish I had Sister Holland’s eyes. That _itch can see everything… without glasses. Sometimes life just isn’t fair. And yet I get something he doesn’t on a yearly basis(which reminds me that he probably should go in to see Dr. Mortensen just to be safe) I get a visit with one of the nicest guys to fit you with corrective lenses this side of the I-15. I’ve been seeing Dr. Mortensen for eight years and he’s fitted me with contact lenses year after year as my eyesight has degenerated from single vision lenses to requiring the latest multi-focal lenses. I still can’t figure out how they do it, but with a good fitting I can see the deer I just took out on Wasatch Blvd. and read the insurance card to call my agent without taking my lenses out or using cheater readers. Dr. Mortensen has also been there through thick and thicker as he’s written my Rx for some cool glasses. And let’s not forget those times I’ve stuck my dirty finger in my eye contracting a little infec-shun. He can write you a prescription to cure those issues too. The nice thing about Spence Mortensen is that he always has a smile on his face. His little shop on 100 South just off 5th East isn’t new or filled with the absolutely most hi-tech equipment but what he has is a great appreciation for his customers. When you walk in the door his big smile is always there to greet you. You know you’ll be taken care of and seeing the road signs again sooner than he can say«A or B, C or D». An appointment is usually needed but I’ve never had a problem being squeezed in when I’ve had an issue. Dr. Mortensen is the man for your eyes.

I have been in Dr. Mortensen’s office several times and have always had a possitive experience. I wanted to put a post on here so others will know that he is definately a gerat optometrist. I would recommend him to others looking for a good careing and knowledgeable eye doctor. My most recent visit he spent time with me to trial new contact lens options. I think these Avaira lenses are excellent. Thanks Dr. Mortensen. JR

Sometimes it takes a better experience to realize maybe your expectations haven’t been high enough. Dr. Mortensen used to be better. He is still a kind doctor, however, his service has gone down. My last experience, I was rushed through the exam. I had to have my prescription changed because he had forgotten to figure out the strength of prism and had just guessed at what might work. Their office staff is friendly — but doesn’t always follow through. They billed my insurance incorrectly — so 5 months later it still hadn’t received anything even though I’d called multiple times. I also needed to have some prescription sunglasses made, and the shop that was filling the prescription could never get a call back from the doctor. If you need an eye doctor, go see Dr. Robert Christiansen. He’s awesome. And now I know better.
