This is a strong 4, maybe the strongest 4 of anything here as it edges up slightly. Where it sort of falls down is the interior, which I struggle with to the point of being unable to handle. I don’t actively hate anyone, but no way do I like people enough to be that near to them, with more or less being stacked on top of everyone else. I’m trying to think of a food so great I wound consider it and I’m coming up empty. The food here is quite good, bordering on spectacular. The red sauce is runnier than I’m used to and they run it on the astringent side somewhat, but it definitely tastes fresh. Calamari likewise and an interesting thing there… having that along, the breading is a touch salty, but integrate the lemon and it’s a good meshing, with the red sauce being a nice cap to it. I’m not super in love with that red sauce, but that’s probably more my personal palate. It is extremely well done, as was the calamari… just the flavors were a bit outside of my preference strictly for that red sauce. I also had the carbonara. Now, typically, this comes drowning in a white sauce. Here, it came in what appeared to be sort of a garlic butter sauce. This was a lot of fun, as it meshed with the cracked pepper, of which there was plenty and though it was slightly dry at times(not overwhelmingly so), the noodles were cooked flawlessly. So far, so good, but the real star was the pancetta… every time I’d start to drift a bit on the dish and the taste would wane and I’d run into fatigue, the pancetta grace notes would come back in and bring me back all over again. Because of that, I’d put this in one of the top 2 or 3 carbonaras I’ve had… ever. I would normally get into a discussion of how authentic this is, but the proprietors seem to be Italian by way of Italy itself, so I’m going to pass on commenting other than to say I don’t doubt it, but I’m also curious which part they’re from as there seems to be some regional differences from other authentic Italian I’ve had. This place is also next door to the second location for Sweetaly, which is a fantastic add-on bonus, but also tends to double my bill, if I decide to fight the crowds there. Reserving for this place is a stellar idea, unless you want to call something in for pick-up, which tends to be moderately successful. It’s one of those few places I battle back and forth with wishing I lived closer and then being thankful I don’t because I’m not sure my pocketbook could take the beating. For all that, if you haven’t been, go. This is a must!

This is an amazing restaurant. We had pasta an pizza – both were cooked to perfection. The service was amazing. This sweet little restaurant tucked away in a nice neighborhood is well worth a visit.

Visited here the other night and we’re pleasantly surprised. We showed up without a reservation but we’re pleasantly greeted by the manager/owner and seated at a great little table. He could tell we were new and he treated us with one of their fried rice ball apps. It was fantastic as well as our main course of gnocci. We will be returning and bringing our friends here!

Delicious Italian food made by Italians. The arancini should not be missed, the gnocchi is another favourite. Friendly, low key service. The restaurant itself is pretty basic, but the food shines.

Wow! Absolutely the best authentic Italian food! Extremely friendly service. Quaint spot tucked away in Sugarhouse. Reminds of time a restaurant we ate at in Sienna. I’ve been here multiple times and they never disappoint.

Very impressed by this place. The food was so much better than I expected it to be. The place is a bit older and dated but they certainly know how to make delicious food. The service was great too! I would definitely recommend giving it a try if you are wanting some good Italian food in the SLC area!

Arincini was cold in the middle and lacked something. I’m not sure what it was, but it was missing something. The pizza was average at best and the pasta special was just so so. The place is cute enough & the service was good at informing us of what they has as specials, but after that they really didn’t deliver. We were finished with our beverages and were ¾ the way through our main course before they asked if we wanted anything else to drink. They did comp us some desert due to the amount of time it took to get our main courses(well over 30 minutes), but even then the food was just so so. I will go back because a few of the pasta dishes that came out of the kitchen look wonderful, but I’m not sure this place will work it’s way into the regular rotation.

It’s a cute little family owned restaurant. One of the better options for Italian food in Salt Lake City. We’ve always enjoyed ourselves here. It’s BYOB which is really nice or you can get one other house wines. I really like their pizza and a lot of their pastas and it is just a great little spot. Seating is pretty limited though and parking is on the street except for a couple spaces in front of the restaurant.

Wow, this place is great, I can’t wait to go again! My daughter and boyfriend found it raved about it, then we all 4 went and was as good as she said. Week later my wife got a to go dinner while I was out of town and she said it was every bit as good as dining in

I was hoping for a neighborhood Italian restaurant gem like the ones we enjoy in New York – you know, the ones with the hearty authentic-tasting dishes. The food was pretty good but I felt like I was in a liberal Salt Lake City neighborhood joint in the Avenues that was pretending to be real Italian. Menu is replete with lots of wimpy veggie options and small portions. I wanted to order the chicken parmigiana, but come on, paired with new potatoes and veggies & not pasta?! If you go there, get the lasagna… overall pretty good. The carbonara was OK but a little too salty and a little too soupy and came in a dish that was too small for the portion – like eating your entrée from a cereal bowl. The service was slow, but it was really busy on a Saturday night, so I’ll give them a pass on that one. The service otherwise was very good.

Incredible and authentic food, the handmade gnocchi are delicious and cannot find anywhere like this in Salt Lake. The lasagna is also a great go-to and make sure to do the arancini for appetizer. Always have an amazing meal here and the prices are so reasonable. Incredible place, best Italian in Salt Lake City.

I saw a review here of an idiot saying the Olive Garden might be better than Per Noi… Well this guy is wrong. The place is just like a small trattoria in southern Italy. The Italian owner welcomed us warmly. I went there last week and I tried the eggplant parmigiana and the arancini. Very delicious. I will come back for sure to try other things. I think that salt lake doesn’t have many choices for good Italian food, this is the best so far, unless you want to spend a 100 dollars per person at valter’s osteria. .

A great place to eat located in the heart of a sugarhouse neighborhood. They have a nice intimate setting for a couple’s dinner. I had the soup of the day which was the chicken, broccoli soup. It was delicious! I was with a large group and their food looked and tasted delicious as well. My girlfriend got the lasagna, two ‘s up and a friend of mine got the Gnochi(I think that’s how you spell it) and it was just as good. Save enough room for dessert too! Definitely going back, it’s a perfect place to take my girl on a date.

This place is amazing ! It’s like rationing the food in Italy but better. Chef Franko is warm and kind and his food is to die for. All the servers were nice and welcoming. I highly recommended you to try out Per Noi and you will love it for ever.

Glad I decided to give this place a shot! Like other reviews mentioned, the Arancini appetizer was delicious. Not as rich as I expected, which was a good thing. Pasta dishes had a nice homey flavor, unlike many local chains. I would defiantly go back to try some of the other specials. Unlike others, I actually appreciate the portion size… otherwise I would die from carbs. P. S. The bread was heavenly.

This wonderful Italian restaurant needs to be on everyone’s radar. Their pasta dishes are superb. Pasta Carbonara — perfect in its classic simplicity. It’s amazing how many restaurants in SLC mess this dish up. The Per Noi version was so good! The special pasta tonight was a ravioli with artichoke and pancetta in a cream sauce and it was sublime. I hope it is a regular special. Kooky location, in the middle of a residential neighborhood… I would have never just driven by this place without the help of Unilocal.Attentive service but the restaurant could bump up their décor for a little more ambiance. Cute patio seating too. I can’t wait to come back!

Four stars solid for flavor and execution but I’m giving them three stars for small portions. This place is cute and gets busy on the weekends fast so be sure to call ahead and make reservations. I made reservations and was seated immediately and asked what I wanted to drink. The service is prompt and I do enjoy that. Our waiter was kind and on the ball at all times and made sure to check back with us from time to time. The food is good but I do understand reading past reviews that this place does have small portions. Is it worth it coming back? Maybe if you’re not that hungry and just want a small Italian dish full of flavor. Chicken Marsala– awesome dish but small portions. The chicken was tender, the veggies had a good bite to them and weren’t overcooked and the Marsala sauce was wonderful. Pasta with spicy meat sauce– spicy! Has a kick to it and the sauce was very flavorful. I wish it had more meat in it but at least this place knows how to cook their noodles al dente! Would I be back? Sure. But if you want bigger portions go to the Cheesecake Factory where I think it equally as delicious when it comes to their pasta and the portions are double in size.

I was visiting SLC three years ago and had amazing dinner here! Had to try again and sure enough another great meal! This is a true hidden treasure! Hidden among a neighborhood of houses not on the main roads! Friendly people! Great waitstaff and very relaxing! Don’t get fooled on the chains and go to an authentic Italian place — worth the visit! Ciao! Came back again the next night — still excellent! Still 5 stars!

Let’s cut to the chase. The salted caramel gelato was exceptional. Ok, with that out of the way, the arancini was a pleasant surprise. Crunchy rice is always a plus, in my book. Add cheese, a little sauce, a bit of meat and herbs, and you’ve got yourself a tasty orb of power. The eggplant parm app was tasty, cheesy and saucy. The calamari was a bit on the dry and fishy side. My comment: «This kind of approaches the flavor of squid jerky you get at Asian markets.» The margherita pizza was decent, with all the flavors we westerners would expect; basil-y, tomatoey and cheesy. The tiramisu and vanilla panna cotta were both excellent. All in all a good experience, if not, a pleasant surprise. Can’t wait to get back and try out the rest of the menu!

I can’t say enough exceptional things about this quaint Italian restaurant! I found this place on Unilocal & read great reviews on the authentic Italian food they offered. It states on here that it is not good for Groups, but I called and reserved seating for about 14 girls anyway and they were more than willing to accommodate. The owner made sure to call and confirm the day of and when we arrived, they put together tables to ensure we had enough room. He kindly offered a «Family Style» dinner with a couple courses for a flat fee per person, but the girls all wanted to order their own entrée. It was so sweet of him to offer that option! He was also VERYGENEROUS& brought out appetizers caprese salad, pizza, and bread with balsamic vinegar and olive oil for our group! If that’s not service, I don’t know what is! Most importantly, the food– PERFECTO! I decided to try gnocchi for the 1st time and it is little round potatoes with your choice of sauce, I got the Bolognese(meat sauce) and it was delicious! My friend got the chicken Parmesan and she confidently stated it tasted better than her own cooking! Which is saying a lot! My cousin got the salmon and it tasted wonderful with just the perfect amount of herb & seasoning! Everyone was very welcoming and made us feel very special for our Galentines Dinner! Thank you Per Noi Trattoria!!! We will be back!
