Decent drinks and food overshadowed by quite possibly the worst service I’ve seen in Salt Lake City and ranking in the top worst for anywhere. It’s a shame that they have a staff that is as slow as humanly possible, ignores requests that have been made 3 or 4 times, and managers that don’t take any corrective measures after we have brought it to their attention. There is apparently no pride or dignity for the establishment among the wait staff and this became ever so clear over the more than two hours that it took to complete a simple meal on a relatively not busy afternoon. And I still never got the drinks that I ordered and asked for multiple times. If you want to be frustrated out of your mind, go ahead and order a meal and a couple drinks. An hour later you might get your meal. And If my drinks ever show up, please let me know.

I had super high hopes for this place going in and they so almost met them. The service was really good and so are their drink section. But I just feel like all of our food was either a little too done or not quite cooked enough. Like their friend pickles-amazing batter! The sauce was to die for! But they weren’t quite cooked all the way. So they were crunchy outside, almost doughy inside. The funnel cake fries are an absolute must try though!

The place is very unique and ultimately is a cool Irish pub, I must admit. $ 7 for a stein of beer? Ouch. Piper Down is the have a beer eat an app/plate of decent pub food easy going night, not the bar you’re going say, «I spent a week in there one night!»

Came here Saturday’s to celebrate my friend’s achievement. It wasn’t busy at all and finding a table is super easy to find. They have a really unique drink menu. I’ve tried most of them and they are really yummy And sweet. Their shots choices are super vast too. The prices here for the drinks aren’t bad at all. We order rounds of shots like crazy and the bill came out to only $ 75. It was totally worth it. The food they serve here is like normal bar food, but it was still yummy. We order mozzarella cheese sticks and poutine fries. The poutine fries was so good and it satisfy my taste buds. The waiting staff here is super friendly but they tend to disappear… I’m wondering if there was just a little bit of people staffing tables because the place didn’t seen busy at all. I would come back here because of the chill environment and cheap drinks.

If you are looking for a great spot for drinks, to mingle as well as live entertainment on the weekends, this will be the place. I love the cool atmosphere as a diversity of people go here to just hang out and have a good time. This is the best place to go to on Saint Patrick’s Day as well. Great entertainment, Irish car bombs, Irish food and green beer are their specialty on this day. This is the only place I can get an orange creamsicle adult beverage that is served on a cool swan glass that was not even on the menu. However, the bartender still made it because he knew it was one of my favorite drinks!

This is one of the few bars in Salt Lake that I stop by on a regular basis. I love Piper Down– great music, great food, great staff. The karaōke on Wednesday and Sunday night is always a little too much fun! I’ve spent many a Sunday at this establishment, and I don’t plan on faltering.

I really liked this place. It’s exactly as advertised. Its also got fun event nights so if your into trivia then they got you covered. When we walked in on a Wednesday night we were confused at first why the place was absolutely packed. Trivia night seems to be a major draw. The food here is pretty damn delicious. Bar food at its best. I’ve had a great turkey bacon sandwich, delicious smothered baked potato(my most favorite comfort food ever!), good onion rings, fries and burger. This place is large, has a big alcohol and beer selection and good food. What’s not to like? Oh, the parking sucks but that’s it, once you’ve found that, you’re golden!

Piper down is awesome! I go to geeks who drink every week. The bar tenders are awesome and do a great job no matter what your poison. Don’t hesitate to spend your night on state with the best bar staff in the US!

Yes. I will admit that I’ve only visited Piper Down during the Sundance season between films. True to form, I stopped in on the last day of this past Sundance, and was in the mood for mimosas, dammit! Ordering and quickly downing only two before running back to Grand Theater, I was shocked that when the bill came… the mimosas were only $ 1. Like, what?! Is this a well known thing in Salt Lake, and I’ve just failed to hear about it?! Have I been living in only local restaurants, and have been completely clueless about the bars?! I have failed this time, my friends, but will pick myself to know better next time. Needless to say, Piper Down is on my list of «Good Things». It was very busy when we stopped in, but I was able to quickly grab a seat in arguably the BEST area in the bar: a corner table that allows for a a great view of the overall scene, and to watch bar-goers in their natural bar habitat. I DO know that Piper Down hosts Geeks Who Drink Trivia nights(See…I’m not TOO far out of the bar scene…), so Imma try real hard to stop in for that. Promise.

Great brunch! Be warned: The«Free Bloody Mary Bar» is not free – you will have to pay for your vodka pours($ 4.50 each). Otherwise, reasonable prices. Pleasant and prompt service. Comfortable public house atmosphere with a mixed crowd. Low key during Sunday brunch. We definitely will come back. Karaōke on Sunday and Wednesday nights. Bingo Thursday nights.

Where can you go to eat and drink like the Irish? Piper Down! I’m not really sure how authentic their food is, but with no other comparison on my part, it’s pretty decent. My latest visit was for brunch and we got the Henry VIII dish. It’s got eggs, potatoes, ham, and bangers which are some kind of sausage. The taste of everything was fine, nothing special. My primary reason for this visit was to experience the buzzed about Bloody Mary bar. Although it’s not as extravagant as others I’ve seen out of town, it’s got all the basics: 2 kinds of tomato sauce mix, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco, olives, celery, salt & pepper. Vodka starts at $ 4.50 and you mix yours to your liking. Mimosas are $ 1 which is damn cheap, but expecting to catch a buzz off these is crazy talk. Cheers!

If you’re looking for someplace to get a bite later in the evening, this is not it. If you want to be ignored by the staff, then you have a winner in the Piper Down.

Piper Down has become a go-to destination whether it is for trivia night, watching a game, or enjoying a live Irish band and bagpipes. It can be a bit difficult to get hold of a waitress, but once you do they’re usually decent about checking up on you. It’s a fairly large bar capable of holding a large crowd as well, so it can get a bit noisy, but not the worst. I like the Irish nachos, made with potato chips instead of tortilla chips, and corned beef. The poutine and the fried pickles are also solid options I have enjoyed. There seems to be a decent selection of Irish type drinks, but that isn’t something that I have explored.

I love this bar. They offer great deals on there house beer, regimental red. The food is great. The staff even better. If you enjoy playing poker this is the spot. They play Sunday afternoons and Monday and Tuesday evenings. Free to play with prizes for the winners.

The food is mostly good pub fare, the beer is cold and there is a vast assortment. The staff are professional and make a good mixed drink. Texas Hold Em Tournaments Sunday Afternoons, Monday and Tuesday Evenings in the Temple Bar, Pint Nite Monday Nite Breaking Bingo Thursday NIte, Drinking Liberally in the Temple Bar Friday NIte. Thet also have karaōke and pub quiz. Mostly what keeps me coming is the awesome bunch of people working there from the Bar Tenders, bar backs cocktail & food waitresses, they’re all good folks who make coming out a good time. I’d name names but I’d forget someone and that wouldn’t be cool so come check it yourself!

Piper Down… so many memories from this place. I use to come here on a regular basis for drinks and to meet up people. Sad to say that I don’t come as often, but still a decent place to go. This place is typically not crowded except for St. Patrick’s Day. Be prepared if you try to go here on that day because this place is packed with people! I stay away just because there is no room, but their food here is pretty good because you can order things such as Irish Stew Bowl and Corn Beef Hash. I have never been here for breakfast but I’ve heard they have a bloody mary bar and really cheap mimosas if that is to your liking. I also heard the food is good so one day I should swing by. I come down here for the night life. The bar is usually open and service is alright. Depending on the day you come, there could either be life music or some karaōke happening. I still do enjoy coming to this bar.

Q: Why do you never iron a four leaf clover? A: Because you don’t want to press your luck! I know, I know… I’m the Asian Dave Chappelle. I kid, I kid – Yes, I recognize that my jokes are lame, and now we are back on topic. I came here with a group of ladies on a Sunday night for the trivia(I know, right?). Before that, we had spent several hours at the U of U library studying(despite the fact that this trivia is random). Being that it was my first trivia, I went into high school decathlon mode and immersed myself in American culture from 70s music to old 80s movies to 90s politics. It really was like trying to find a needle in a haystack(without a magnet). Being that it was my first trivia, I was excited. While playing, I realized why we were studying – this game is COMPETITIVE! Our team didn’t take home the first place prize, but we did finish in the top half, which I hear is kinda a big deal(esp considering our newbie status). The trivia consisted of 1 visual and 8 rounds. We had questions about movies, music, politics, geography, beer(which I took home the most points for *shoulder pat*), and so much more! The MC was hilariously inappropriate, and the whole night was just so fun. I can’t wait to come back. In terms of rating, I’m really fenced between 3 – 4 stars for this place! It’s got a character of its own and Geeks Who Drink trivias on Wednesdays and Sundays, which is why I’m bumping it to 4 stars… If this pub could be made into a person and talk to me, I’d imagine an Irish midget Marlon Wayans. Seriously though, this place has so much Irish pride. There’s even a part of the menu dedicated to clarifying myths on Guinness beer. Their menu is vast and food portions are HUGE for a great price. The service is decent with water refills upon request. The turn around time for food is a bit on the slow side, but it could be because it was a trivia night. My friends and I met up a while earlier and with the chips & salsa it still took a while though. Irish Nachos($ 8): Fried thick potato slices drenched in melted cheese, loaded with corned beef and topped with sour cream, pico de gallo, guacamole, and jalapeños. These are seriously are a must try for any potato or carne asada lovers! Make sure to wear stretchy pants though. Other things to try would be the corned beef since they make it themselves! I really enjoyed the greasy food, strong alcoholic drinks, trivia games, and pub culture! I can’t wait to come back for the next trivia night! Happy eatings/outings! Tip 1: Check in for free chips & salsa! Their salsa is pretty sweet with a huge mango purée type flavor to it! I really enjoyed the sweet and tanginess. Portions are huge as well! Tip 2: They have $ 1 mimosas during brunch! Brunch has a separate menu of its own and is only available Saturday & Sunday! Tip 3: They make their own corned beef! Try it(esp brunch hours) Tip 4: They have happy hour from M-Friday(4pm-6), meaning discounted eats! Tip 5: They do trivia nights on Sundays and Wednesdays! Come play!

Another dingy bar in SLC with a fun atmosphere and great food. I was pleasantly surprised how big the menu is with many great options you can’t get anywhere else. I was really sad when Bourbon House stopped serving Irish Nachos so when I saw it on the menu, I had to get them. They are better than the Bourbon House Nachos and a small is only $ 5, not that they were small. Something I noticed while flipping through the menu was their prices. Nothing is over $ 10, except the fish and chips, so the prices are great. They have a great drink menu and good beers. That’s important to me! I got the Bangers ‘N Mash and couldn’t believe how good they were. My partner got a chicken salad that was big and had a lot on it. It was so good that I recommend it to my team at work. We went as a big group, easily found a seat and had great service. When we were done, all they could talk about the rest of the day was how much they loved it. Can’t wait to go back.

We LOVE this place. Being vegan and craving bar food used to suck. These guys have a diverse and super vegan-friendly menu, PLUS that bloody mary bar brunch. Great staff, easygoing vibe, and lots of good beer. My man recently went with a friend and said their burgers aren’t very good, but I don’t eat beef so this place still gets 5 stars in my book!

I really really like this place! I love the atmosphere. It’s casual, and pretty kick back. I like their fries, wings and nachos. Ohhh and their chips and salsa are pretty good, I almost forgot that. I like this place Whether your in a group or a party of two. It’s more fun with groups I think. Last, they have an outside patio that’s pretty cool. Check it out!

I’m not used to a bar atmosphere but was pleasantly surprised by the friendliness of everyone. Usually bars don’t have great food but I’ll come back here. I had the Irish stew and it was so good! Not a canned stew but a made today from scratch stew and the mashed potatoes it was served over was real(not instant) potatoes. The place was clean too and not divvy at all. This Irish pub is different than a typical bar. I will come back for the food!

As I stepped through the door, I half expected a man in a kilt to greet me and say, «Awright ‘n’ fàilte tae oor humble establishment, please sit whaur ye wid lik’ ‘n’ mak’ yersel’ at hame, someone wull be alang tae tak’ yer order ‘ere soon!» And then I realized that I was being silly and I shouldn’t let my imagination create unrealistic expectations. However, I will say that the olde world pub feel wasn’t imagined. I will admit that I avoid peak pub times, so I can’t tell you how rowdy this place might get. I went early on a Monday evening and there were plenty of open tables, even though over half of them were taken up by a PaintNite event. Their beer list, while not extensive by any means, at least has something for just about everyone. I do wish they would add some more European imports to their menu like a good Trappist ale(just to round out that feeling of stepping into an olde world pub). The service wasn’t terrible. The waitress was friendly and as attentive as she could be with as many tables as she serving. The atmosphere was good and the music was enjoyable and not overpowering(I’m not sure if this is typical or if they had lowered the music volume for the painting event that was taking place). While the food was definitely above par as far as pub food goes, it wasn’t shattering any of my expectations. All-in-all, it was a pleasant evening spent with my best friend, good food, and good drinks.

I like to come here for brunch on Sundays. It’s reasonably creative menu is decent and not too expensive. They also have one dollar mimosas. Order several at once though because they aren’t big. They set up a «make your own Bloody Mary bar» but I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s pricey and not that good. Overall though, it’s a great place to grad brunch. I don’t come here at night time. The service isn’t very good, and the dinners are very cheap tasting.

One of my faves in SLC. Good vibes most nights. Drinks tend to be a little pricier so take advantage of any deals they might have. A good example of this are the $ 1 mimosas they have for weekend brunch(Saturday and Sunday until 2PM). Food is pretty standard bar fare, the potato skins are pretty tasty. Trivia on Sundays and Wednesdays is often very competitive but a lively experience nonetheless. Bartenders and staff are very likable and put up with a lot of S#$% from people who are too drunk to stand. Kudos to them. Don’t have enough good things to say about this place. Come check it out if you haven’t already.
