I ordered take out with high expectations, but was left sadly disappointed. I ordered Mongolian beef, orange peel chicken, and pork fried rice for my family. The Mongolian beef was so, so oily and lacked flavor and the veggies were a hot mess. The rice in the pork fried rice had a strange taste, like it had been stored in cardboard boxes, and there were large lumps of white rice that hadn’t gotten broken down. It was very pale, only a splash of soy had been added to it. The rice was a huge failure and what I was most sad about, I love a good fried rice! The orange peel chicken was pretty good, with the right amount of breading on the chicken and a pleasant orange flavor. But one out of three isn’t good enough for me, especially with all the shining reviews I read about them online. Sorry Red Maple, but you were a huge failure today.

Nice appearance as you enter the restaurant. You are greeted right away. There was no waiting at the time I arrived, just before 4pm. Their lunch menu is from 11am to 4pm. I ordered the shrimp chow fun w/green onion(I asked for the white part only of the green onion and was told that they throw that part away) so that was very upsetting! My waitress was not very informative. The chow fun was very good, the only veggies it contain were bean sprouts(way to many bean sprouts) and very few green onions, the dish really should offer at least one more vegetable choice, otherwise the dish was very well prepared and very tasty!

If you were looking for completely average Chinese, meaning it’s tough to chew and dry meat, this is the place to go. Not any better than your average panda express restaurant. We ordered a lunch, which they have a time slot 11 to 4, but they said they weren’t serving it. That meant we had to pay a three dollar add-on for the dinner. I think I had a total of 3 bites, then proceeded to throw it away. I had the sweet and sour pork.

This was my first time experiencing dim sum and I can’t believe I haven’t tried it before. This restaurant did a good job of providing a great experience. The servers were constantly checking on us to see if we needed any more food or anything else. The food was absolutely flavorful especially when dipped in their red chili oil(I love spicy food!). We ordered 12 dishes to share between the five of us and we enjoyed everything we ordered. Everything was freshly made and definitely delicious.

This is one of my favorite Chinese Restaurant in Salt Lake City. The Cantonese food is really native Chinese. The environment is very nice. This restaurant got a big room. You can drink wine and beer there. Our waiter Geena is very nice. I’d like to go back often.

Nothing bad to say here. This place has a big menu and a delicious dim sum menu. Pretty much anything in the dim sum menu is amazing. Their staff is professional and kind and it’s fairly clean every time. They also have good lunch specials with a large variety:

Surprisingly pretty good dim sum. My Chinese friend and I approved. I wish they gave more sauce on the gailan. They tried to offer everything to you so we ended up overloading on food, which isn’t a bad thing. Other than that it was a pretty pleasant experience.

I tried this place on a whim one evening out with my mom, because we couldn’t figure out where to go and Chinese sounded good. It was delicious. We tried the Dim Sum Sampler, which has quickly become one of my favorite dishes in general. It’s delicious. For actual dinner I had their dinner combo with orange chicken and everything included was really good. I’m glad to finally have a good Chinese place on the west side of that valley. I’ll definitely be back.

This is a great Chinese restaurant in the Taylorsville/West Valley area. The General Tso chicken is amazing! The lo-mein is just ok. Great place for a large group!

Best Dimsum in town. The place has a good number of attentive servers that are constantly making sure your water is filled and you are satisfied with the food. I brought my in-laws to try their Dimsum. They were very intrigued by the whole process and were very pleased with the food. They didn’t care much for the chicken feet but then again they haven’t quite acquired the taste for it yet. I, on the other hand, was in Dimsum heaven. They have a very good selection of dishes and the price was very cheap. My mother in law was actually quite impressed by how much we paid for a group of 8 people. I’ve been craving authentic Dimsum and this place did not disappoint.

Service was terrible, forks seemed like they were not cleaned well enough, and the food smelt rotten. Never coming back to this place again!

The pon pon chicken is on of my favorites. Everything I have ate here has been really fresh and good. They have all of the usual Chinese food classics and a bunch of new things to try. The soup is very good and the pot stickers are some of the best I have had.

First time trying dim sum and wasn’t a fan unfortunately. I ordered the dim sum sampler and it was just okay nothing I’d order again, I also tried the orange chicken which was good and the Phoenix dragon which I would not recommend. Lastly, the service wasn’t very good. I asked for siracha twice and never got it for the entirety of our meal and we rarely got checked upon by our waiter sat around for 15 minutes just trying to pay and leave.

One of the best dim sum restaurant I have ever been to! California and Las Vegas don’t even compare to this! Fresh, plump, juicy dim sum served hot! Big variety of dishes from steamed to fried. You got to come here if you want dim sum!

I really wanted to love you Red Maple, I really did. You’re not bad by any stretch, but you could’ve been so much more. It’s not a bad looking place and the lunch specials are a pretty great deal, but the food could’ve been better. I did absolutely love their pot stickers, some of the best I’ve ever had, but the main course was odd. The General Tso Chicken was soggy and to add spice, they added jalapeños instead of just making the sauce spicer. The service was very, very slow and the side of rice was undercooked. Something that is always concerning when it’s fried rice. Live I said, I wanted to love you so much, but it looks like my search of awesome Chinese food in Salt Lake continues…

I’ve had dim sum in so many parts of the world and frequent Hong Kong a lot and I would say that this place did not disappoint. After moving here, I was concerned I would not find my happy quality Asian foods. First noticeable difference for this experienced dim sum eater is the ratio of staff to hungry people. This joint figured some things out. They had 2 – 3 waiters that didn’t speak a lick of Chinese whom serviced those that didn’t speak it either. Despite coming here several Sundays in a row and speaking Cantonese to them, I seem to always be seated to the amazing two girls who paid a lot of attention to servicing us. No complaints here. Locals don’t start coming here until 12pm. Not sure if it’s an after-church-fare or simply people eat dim sum later on Sundays here. Not all the dim sum are fresh off the steamers and at times, we were surprised how cold some dishes were. We learned to ask for only stuff that comes out of the kitchen. Their pan fried chives dumplings are the best I’ve had so far. No XO sauce, but then that’s not really a USA thing. Their steamed rice rolls could be improved; it’s not as silky as it could be. Their steamed rice roll with ‘fried dough’ had shrimp in the center. This was unusual and was a welcomed treat. It was not served with hoisin sauce. Their radish cakes was yummy. Only second place I’ve found that had bits of radish in it so it’s not all the same gooey consistency. But today, it was a bit too gooey and not firm enough. Chinese ladies pushing carts here speak Toi-San, Cantonese and Mandarin.

We got seated right away when we walked in. Good food, good service & good ambiance. It’s a plus that we can choose from 3 different of tea; oolong, jasmine & chrysanthemum tea. In my personal opinion this is the best dim sum restaurant in SLC! We’ll be back the next time we’re in the area!

My server is john and he is amazing! He attended to our needs so fast and we had a pleasant family luncheon. Dimsum is awesome! You never have to wait to get your food! Quality is great too. I’m happy that i live close to an authentic chinese restaurant. I highly recommend everyone to try it.

Red Maple is my new favorite Dim Sum place — stealing the crown from New Golden Dragon. Every dumpling I’ve tried here has been out of this world. Other favorites include the tripe(perfect texture!), fried calamari, sweet tofu, and coconut dessert. Of the handful of times I’ve been — the service has been hit or miss, though it’s mostly fine. I personally haven’t tried it, but I’ve heard from friends that their regular non-dim sum menu is not every good.

Edit— well I never found out what the mystery was but I am happy as can be. Mmmm mmm! Pretty disappointed with this visit. The food is just mediocre today. Maybe because they’re busy and the chefs aren’t tending to the food so much. Tasting much different than usual. I’ll weigh out the trends here in future visits. Not gonna kill em for a bad day but I definitely want to find out why.

This place is very good for their dim sum. I totally recommend this place. The dim sum here feels a little bit more fresh and less on the frozen side. Also being a person who is very picky about dim sum I think this place has one of the best. Some items do need a little bit more work, like the chicken feet, but the flavoring is very good. The only think I would say is that this place service isn’t that good. The waiters/waitresses are kind of slow. some days it is a bit faster while other days it is lacking a lot. The dim sum cart doesn’t really make their full rounds… they would sometimes go to the table beside you and then disappear after that. You have no idea where that cart disappeared to. I would say though if there is something you want and you can find you waiter/waitress the cart will always go to you table within 5 mins.

I do not really know that much about dim sum, but Red Maple is one of my favorite places for dim sum in Salt Lake City. Almost everything I have had at Red Maple has been delicious and fresh. On the rare occasions, the crispy pork has been disappointing. There are so many items that you can order so make sure to go with a group of friends and/or family. If you visit, make sure to do the dim sum and not just order something off the menu like chow mein or orange chicken. Some of my favorites are the crispy pork, Chinese broccoli, the shrimp in rice noodles, chicken feet, and the pork buns. Also, I really like the turnip cakes. The staff is friendly and fairly responsive to additional orders. There is plenty of parking and the bathrooms are just ok. Before ordering, go through some of the dim sum pictures and get some of those items. I bet you will not be disappointed.

Red Maple is a pretty nice looking restaurant but the food could have been better. The beef and broccoli and magnolia shrimp was all right. We did enjoy the Shanghai juicy buns appetizers. They were quite tasty. Our waiter was great, very friendly, and happy. We made for a nice dinner. But admittedly he was a little slow to wait on our table and could have been more attentive with things like drink refills. I’m not disappointed I tried Red Maple but I think there are better options for Chinese food. Nearby Chinese restaurant Canton Wok for example serves up much better food in my opinion. I would like to try the full dim sum menu at Red Maple on the weekend sometime. The Shanghai juicy buns were the best thing we ate here and so I expect the rest of their dim sum would be pretty tasty too.

Ok my friend recommended me this place, so i broke my routine from the usual New Golden Dragon and Dim Sum House cycle. I was pleasantly surprised. The dim sum was good. I like that it didn’t take forever for the food carts to reach me. At some place that i won’t name, my table was like this isolated island that nobody visits. The food in Red Maple was good too, and they tasted fresh. Andrew said the egg tarts were chewy but i liked them. I also think this place has the best bean curd desserts(taufufa). The place also looks new and elegant. I will definitely come again.

One of the few restaurants that has a huge selection of dim sum. Today I came in with a smaller group than usual. We were greeted by the hostess promptly and was taken to our chairs. As soon as we sat down, the dim sum cart was already by our table. We requested a lot of chili oil from the lady with the dim sum cart and she surely exceeded our expectations with no complaints. Our chili oil bowl was literally filled to the top. Shortly after our server came out and asked us what we wanted to drink. Throughout our meal, our server consistently checked up on us to see if we needed anything. Now for the food. Weekends are the best for dim sum. This restaurant offers a lot of other specialty dishes that are not in the typical dim carts. Aside from the usual chicken feet, spare ribs, shrimp dumplings, we had the juicy dumplings, steamed clams, shrimp rice rolls, deep fried shrimp gyozas, and sweet ginger tofu. Because of the spectacular service, quickness of the delivery of food, and wide variety of dim sum, I give this place a 4 stars. I wanted to give this place a 5 stars but we found a huge shiny black rock in the steamed clams. I guess that means it is super fresh.
