This is, by far, one of my favorite places to shop. I could easily spend a few thousand dollars here. Walking by, you might see a little rack with a few vintage items of clothing and a cluttered little shop behind it. Walk in, though, and you’ll see a store filled with soul. Rotary telephones, 70’s cocktail glasses, vintage board games, cigarette cases, silk scarves, this place has it all. It’s quiet inside, with music playing from all different eras. You definitely have to be cautious walking through; there are hundreds of breakables everywhere, and not too much space. Now that I’ve declared my love for Retro Rose, I will say this: this store, while not ridiculously pricey, isn’t cheap either. Don’t walk in with 20 bucks and expect to walk out with bags full of treasures. It’s not a thrift store, but it certainly doesn’t have the pretentiousness that comes along with an antique store. This place has heart, and it is almost like a museum. You walk out feeling somehow connected to the people who once owned this stuff. Even if you’re not in a buying mood, take a look around, because admission’s free.

So many pretty things. And pretty colors. I’ve often wondered how you organize your inventory when pretty much everything you sell is one-of-a-kind. I mean, head to the grocery store or the department store and you’ve got aisle after aisle of Lozier gondola full of lots of the same product. So when it comes to that ‘60s kitchen appliance or the ‘70s cocktails shaker or the go-go boots, how do you organize it all? There’s no great answer, but Retro Rose seems to have turned that organization into a little bit of art. Here the things are *mostly* segregated by color, which is really useful if you know what room you’re looking to decorate or what palette you’re working with. It may be annoying if you’re looking for one specific type of product, but it does certainly make for a pretty shopping experience. Retro Rose is antique and vintage stuff, with a heavier weighting on home décor, tableware, and kitchen items. But they’re far from exclusive to that list. True to antiquing form, you can find just about anything here. Jewelry, linens, furniture, clothes, shoes. Discovery is half the fun. Prices seem pretty reasonable. As with any shop that has to assign a value to random objects, sometimes you find an item with a price that’s way off. But it swings both ways. Some are unreasonably high, and others are bargain basement cheap. That’s not unique to RR, that’s called antique shops. I’ve been a few times and the staff has been nice. Pretty hands-offish. They let you wander the basement and can assist you if you ask, but will probably not be too pushy. That’s my style. Great if you’re redecorating, looking for all new dishes, want some inspiration, or just like looking for treasures.

This adorable, eclectic shop is a must see. The shop is slammed full of great vintage/antique nick knacks. The shop is adorable and offers everything from vintage clothing, glassware, furniture and paintings. My favorite thing about Retro Rose is the fact that everything is organized by color. This makes shopping very easy if you are like me and decorate via specific colors for each room. As I continue on my search for the perfect accessories for my new home, I stopped in to purchase some vintage bottles. I was unable to locate what i was looking for, but the staff at the shop directed me in some other shops. I really appreciate their willingness to assist me in achieving my vision. Even though I didn’t purchase anything on my recent trip, I will be back. The staff was very friendly/helpful and the selection of goods is amazing! places like this add so much charm to downtown SLC!

There are a dozen reasons for you to visit downtown’s antique row and Retro Rose is one of them. A moderately priced shop touting an extra large assortment of vintage and antique goodies– from first edition cookbooks to 70s tableware to old leather cowboy boots. My head was spinning the first time I stepped into the shop– there was literally too much stuff to look at. The good thing about this place is that while it’s packed with things, there’s an order to the chaos. It’ll take a couple trips to soak it all in, but that just makes it all the more fun.
