Scones and sandwiches are great. Ambiance lacking, fries were average.

I went for a Navajo Taco. Usually I get one normal and one plain to snack on. When my order came I went the grab a bite of the plain one on my way home. I open it it up excited when… That’s not a Navajo Taco. That’s a doughnut without sugar or jelly. It’s like a big bland doughnut. Not a Navajo Taco at all. It was fast and staff were super polite. If it had been a real taco id be back every day. Great staff and prices… They can’t do anything about this wannabe taco. My visit was on 8÷31÷15, I attached a picture of really good fry bread that I bought at another restaurant. Light and fluffy and not really solid but more like a cloud of fried deliciousness.

This scone place is more of a fry bread place. Utah scones are nothing in comparison to what you would eat with a cup of tea or coffee. I always stop by this location whenever I visit Salt Lake and get a half dozen. The scones here have always been fresh and warm. You can get white bread or wheat. I normally get honey butter with cinnamon but tried out the raspberry butter. wow I was quite pleased. Definitely a coronary bypass inducing Utah staple.

We had a coupon for a buy one get one Navajo taco. I was pretty excited since I like fry bread. The staff was friendly. But it took a while. As soon as I watched them pull the pre made fry dough out of a container and toss it in the microwave I knew I’d be disappointed. The chili was okay. Lots of sour cream. Stale microwaved ‘scone’ oh we went through the drive thru and they gave us 3 napkins and no utensils for the messy meal. I’m happy we had a coupon but I don’t think we will bother with it again.

It strikes me that a lot of people are harder on this place than necessary. Are the staff sometimes in need of tact and/or a nature of helpfulness? Sure, but anywhere that hires teenagers will have the same thing going on, including every fast food joint I worked at when I was that age and every one, without exception, I’ve been at since. If it’s too funky, I would just bail and try again, as I find it unfair to rate a business on service along, unless it’s either horribly abysmal or it’s from a member of management and it’s for the same reason I don’t rate on price, either. They open 24 hours, across the board. That’s all to the good. They’re also pretty consistent across a lot of the locations(read my review of the one on 5400 S. Not a ton of difference between them), including them always being a bit worn and frequently a bit dirty inside. The drive throughs tend not to be a particularly wonderful experience most of the time, but nature of the best with the sandwiches… I do have a pet peeve with these places and that is having to have counter staff get me a refill of soda. I haven’t been in a bit and maybe they’ve abandoned that practice by now, but I find that supremely annoying. The food itself I like a lot, though I will advise you to choose a darker meat for your sandwich, as those tend to balance better with the slightly sweet nature of the scone. In a good 20+ years, I’ve never had a bad scone. Bad fries? Plenty of times, but more often than not, they’re solid and factually, if I’m throwing in for them, it means I’m down for a lot of grease. I don’t have them very often anymore, but when I do, the spiciness(not piquancy, though) usually counter-weighs any sogginess. The honey butter scone is a staple, though. Love those sticky messy things. This is one of the few fast food places I never seem to tire of and I rarely say this about fast food joints, but I hope they never go away, but all locations need to do some cleaning up to get things in order. If that was done on a regular and far more consistent basis, all the chains, considering what they offer especially, would be easy 4s…

…this is what Utah is famous for? This place was terrible. Had barely been in Salt Lake City a day and was starving, so we stopped in here. The cashier at the counter laughed at me when I asked what fry sauce was(ok, I’m naïve, but I was new to town, so shut up) and said, «Huh, ah-hah, um… I dunno??? It’s fry sauce!» Great customer service. Good job. Oh, also, the food was crap. Puffy, tasteless bread made from the devils droppings of Subway excrement and the ingredients were incredibly sub-par. Fries were soggy and gross. I guess our definition of scones is very different.

I ate here for the first time today and it was pretty good! I ordered the navajo taco and scone with honey butter and cinnamon. I have never had a navajo taco before so I don’t have anything to compare it to but I thought it was tasty! The scone was really good! It didn’t taste like a regular scone but still yummy! I went threw the drive thru and a guy helped me who was super nice! I will be back soon!

What a promising little place. 24 hour drive thru, and dining room open til midnight. Was hungry for a subway sandwich, but saw this place next door and thought I’d try a non commercial joint. Hah. My mistake. I went inside because there was a huge line in the drive through; I didn’t feel like waiting in my car, running the engine. I waited and waited aaannnnd waited at the counter for a good 5 minutes before someone finally saw me. I suppose I could have called for help, but that’s not the point. And what did they say when they saw me? «It’ll be about 10 minutes before I can help you!» So, I left. Nice hours. Bad Service Fast, Delicious Mexican Food is right down the street, open 24 hours!

When I was in high school, I loved Sconecutter. The shakes, the spicy fries, the trivia video machines(including the sex trivia, which… well, I’d still fail). And the food is still the same it was twenty years ago. We stopped into this particular Sconecutter to get some shakes as dessert. There was a knot of high school kids at a table playing with condiments, but no one else in the place. It also felt like the inside of the place hadn’t been updated or even really had a good cleaning in about twenty years. When we went to the counter to order… nobody was there. We waited a few minutes, and someone came peeking around the corner, surprised that there were people there. She said«just a minute!» and went away for another five. I was ready to go at that point, but we were hanging out with friends and chatting, so it was fine. The shakes were overpriced and pretty mediocre, but I’m not the biggest shake connoisseur to begin with. If you’re looking for a 24 hour place to crash with friends and get some overpriced food to eat, go ahead… it’ll be a long time before we go there again.

Don’t eat here, Unless, you’re starving and this is the only cheap place open. It’s not much of a bargain either. I’m always taking risks and not ever to worried much about it, because I’m always looking for a good hole in the wall, because I don’t mind supporting the underrated underdogs. I guess, this isn’t really that kind of place. But I came here once around 10:30 pm. I ordered the pastrami burger meal thing. I paid 8 dollars for it. When it came out, which took fairly longer than normal compared to most burger places, I just looked at everything and felt slightly cheated. But you don’t judge a book by it’s cover, So I took a bite and I just think to myself, I would’ve been SO much better off at Carls Jr… if it was open… My sandwich had a perfume taste. I don’t know if it came from the lettuce or the pastrami. After eating half of it I debated whether I should finish it or not, but I come from a family where we don’t waste food… so… I finished it. The Fries were dry. And every time I wanted a refill for my drink I’d have to go up to the counter and ask someone. Usually at a fast food place I can refill my drink in about a minute by just walking up to the drink station. At this place I had to ask someone, which turned this simple act of refilling my drink into a 3 – 5 minute wait at the counter. I know it’s not much, but standards are standards, and tripling my wait time for a drink isn’t right. I’m just trying to enjoy a simple meal, even if it is strange tasting. I refilled my drink 4 times. It was the best thing about the meal. Anyways, because of the drinks and the perfumed sandwich, It took quite a while to finish this small meal, that I paid 8 $ for. I went home went to sleep, and in the middle of the night, I woke up to use the toilet. I had slight diarrhea… which is very rare for me, but I eat different things from different places all the time, so It could be from anywhere… but this is the last place I ate, maybe it’s related… I don’t advise going here, thats all… Unilocal thinks this place is 2 stars… I kind of agree.

The scones at Sconecutter is basically a big loaf of greasy fried bread. It was not like any scone I’ve had and I don’t think I’d care to have one again. We had a dessert scone with a few types of honey/raspberry butter and I didn’t finish any of them. The staff was nice and we received our food quickly, so I will give them that. The place felt old, rundown, and dirty.

I have been coming to Sconecutter for a long time. And the good thing is they really haven’t changed anything about them. And the fact there drive thru is open 24 hours is a big bonus. The scones are what you come for and they won’t disappoint. But what you put on that scone may be the down fall of your experience. I love the breakfast scones they offer. I would say try that if you haven’t had anything from here before. Be warned they do cook everything from scratch and it does take awhile to get your order.

Sconecutter has a small parking lot with more than enough seating inside for you and your whole crew.(I assume you have a crew or at very least an entourage for the purposes of this review.) This location has a bit of a hole-in-the-wall feeling to it. It’s almost always empty as can be. The décor is outdated and the building is obviously a little less than loved. The food is alright. I know it’s called Sconecutter, but the scones just don’t seem very scone-y to me. I dare say they have the best seasoned fries in the valley here since Central Park disappeared. Try a few of their sandwiches, get some fries, maybe a milkshake. They have one large table for a group, and many smaller booths. The owner is a friendly guy and he’s recognized me on more than one occasion and even knew my regular order. Their dining room is open pretty long hours, pre-dawn to late night, and they have a 24 hour drive thru window for those late night cravings. A few handy tips, the kids meals are actually pretty big, my three year old and four year old can share one happily; Don’t bother with paying for the extra avocado, it ain’t ever fresh; If there’s a line at the drive thru, go in to order. You’ll most likely get your food faster and save our smoggy environment from extra emissions. You don’t like smog do you?

I don’t know about y’all, but I had never noticed this place. It was empty empty empty, it served its purpose on filling me up with foodiez, but the food wasn’t amazing. Im not saying it was bad, because it wasn’t, but it wasn’t the ultimate dining experience, plus the place looks old and a bit mistreated, but again, it served its purpose.

Although the outdated décor and dilpidated conditon of an establishment don’t usually deter me from eating there, I should have turned around and headed right out the door. The furniture and décor was probably last updated in the 80’s and was really run down. My turkey avacado sandwich had 1 thin slice of processed turkey with limp lettuce. The spicy fries weren’t bad but they also charged me extra for a packet of horseradish sauce and a minute cup of fry sauce. The scone was stale. Me thinks I shall not be returning to the SconeCutter.

Scones are basically biscuits and when we saw a 24hr scones sign… we thought that’s what we were getting. In actuality we received slightly flatten, ciabatta look-alike. Disappointed but we still gave it a chance. We had it on its own. This consisted of cinnamon butter and apple. Alright and nothing memorable. We also had it as a french dip which was really good. I didn’t think that I enjoyed the ‘scones’ better as a sandwich but I did. If you’re expecting traditional dessert scones that you would normally see at Starbucks, then don’t venture in.

Sconecutter is pretty good! I usually can’t decide between the honey butter scone or the veggie scone. Both are equally delicious, but the veggie scone is more filling. The lettuce, sprouts, and shredded cheddar cheese go perfectly with the white scone. I wish they would put sliced cheese on, but I’m just as happy with shredded. I also love their smiley fries! They are jam packed with potato, and are super adorable! I would avoid the shakes though. I ordered a chocolate shake and it was rancid. I didn’t even finish my first bite before I wanted to vomit.

Don’t be fooled. This is not a «scone». This is a mushy hamburger bun, microwaved, and then slathered in an oily fake-butter-honey-cornsyrup mixture. White or wheat, it doesn’t matter. It is still a hamburger bun. On the plus side, they have 24 hr drive thru service, in case you need a microwaved hamburger bun at 3am. However, word to the wise. NEVER eat these if you are going to be more than 20 minutes from a bathroom. Because it is going to give you the runs. Scientific fact.
