Terrible place. Food looks like it was slapped onto the plate. Though, it is convenient if you’re staying at the hotel.

I had the pleasure of dining here for a company dinner(about 23 people total in the private room). The correspondence of setting everything up went very smoothly even as our count continued to rise. The staff were all very attentive when we arrived and providing us good recommendations. I ended up ordered the Filet Mignon and I will say it ranked as one of the best steaks I have ever had — great char on the outside and cooked medium on the inside. The seafood was also amazing. I don’t think I have ever seen shrimp that big or had scampi with so much flavor. The only reason this place doesn’t get 5 stars were the sides. They were good, but nothing to write home about. In particular, the french onion soup had way too much cheese and the onions were very mushy. Otherwise, I think everyone else was amazing.

Gained a star for pork belly mac and cheese. Holy cow this is food porn! Scallops were rubbery but mash potatoes were scrumptious. Service was a lot better then last time but bartender in bar is slow but he can make an awesome bloody mary. Speaking of bar, its small and packed! I would come back.

I know, read all the reviews and still went anyway. After a day of skiing my butt was too tired to leave the hotel. Where do I start? Ordered a ribeye for 47 bucks and what came out was embarrassing. Thin cut was on par with something you could get at sizzler. Plating was embarrassing basic and my mom has done better with three squares. Should have walked a block. 2 stars cause the bartender was nice. Otherwise, stay away.

Easily the best steak in town. Every item we’ve ordered has been top notch. If you eat in the dining area it’s a much better experience. The server at the bar tables area isn’t the friendliest. Love the desserts!

My experience was limited to a mid day business lunch but it was enough to sell me. Classy atmosphere, service, and food. Expect to pay more than usual and perhaps more than you might think it’s worth but think of it like a triple base hit in baseball… you won’t be disappointed even if it isn’t a home run.

We were staying at the Hilton and ended up here for lunch yesterday. We had the salmon BLT which has the most amazing bacon you could imagine. We also had the fish and chips that were incredible. Great service too, I highly recommend!

Had Thanksgiving dinner with the family. I am on a gluten free diet so chose to eat off the menu and not the holiday feast. I had the small filet, it was delicious, and the Brussel sprouts. The sprouts were young and tender, yummy. The family had the turkey and each was accommodated with their turkey preference. My granddaughter had the leg. Their plates looked appetizing. We started with the cheese plate and had the sommelier pair our wines for the meal. Dessert for me, tasted like fresh strawberry sorbet and included fresh strawberry slices. The pumpkin crème brûlée presentation was elegant and my husband said it was scrumptious. The service was excellent and attentive. We have patronized several of the upscale restaurants in the area and Spencer’s service has earned a grade of A. What a great Thanksgiving meal. We will be back!

Incredible. Obviously pricey but duh. My friend and I split the porterhouse, asparagus, and smashed potatoes. Perfect for two of us. My boss got the sea bass on top of the ravioli and it looked great. Even the bread at the beginning of the meal was fantastic. The service was great as you’d expect of a restaurant of this caliber. Definitely one of the best steaks I’ve ever had.

The aged steak was excellent ! — I highly recommend it . 22 oz. of USDA Natural Organic and aged for 28 – 31 days Bone in Ribeye Steak, prepared on a 1600 degree infrared broiler for juicy tenderness and flavahh. Yea. ! Came here for dine o round with some friends and decided to order off the regular menu instead. For a side the creamed spinach was a generous portion and very tasty. I had a chance to try their Dine o round dessert as well and it was also very good. The service was quiet and quick — the kind I prefer when dining with a group of friends when we get lost in conversation.

Note: this review is based on a visit to have lunch. Located inside the Hilton, Spencer’s is a traditional high-end steakhouse that offers a varied and appealing lunch menu, at prices that go along. As you might expect it has an elegant setting. Upon entering you walk into their small bar area, with the dining room off to the left. We sat in one of their 2– person booths in the bar area where only one other table was occupied. Service was prompt and friendly. And the food was was worth the price. Before ordering they brought a small loaf of bread with regular butter, and garlic butter. I order the rib eye sandwich, which came with shoestring fries. Th sandwich was very large, and packed with meat and cheese. The meat was soft, tender, and savory, perfect for a sandwich.

Ate here for lunch and dinner. Lunch was tomato soup with grilled cheese. The soup was good, sandwich was a bit overcooked but tasty. Service was great and it was quiet, which allowed me to work on reports. Ordered their ribeye for dinner and was underwhelmed. Not bad, but not memorable.

My boyfriend and had the pleasure of dining here last Friday night. We had the best dining experience and meal in years! Kevin our waiter was amazing and super knowledgable about the menu, the GM Jeremy came by our table and checked on us throughout our dining which was very nice. The calamari appetizer was our favorite and buffalo osso bucco was to die for! We will definitely be back for more! Also their key lime pie is heaven!

I hadn’t eaten red meat in a few years but thought I’d treat myself to Spencer’s acclaimed rib-eye and I’m so glad I did. Delicious but wished a side was included with my meal. I’ll visit whenever I’m in the area just to get a drink from the best bartender in Utah. Three cheers for Jules!

I had the chance to swing into Spencer’s after my last very disappointing visit a few months back when I swore that I would not return and I must say that the new management was engaged and listened to the customers and what they wanted. They have a new chef and from what I understand are working on tweaking out the menu back to where is was before all the changes happened a year or so back. I did have lunch and I must say I was happy to see that the food, service and the establishment look to be headed back to the glory days of years past. I will be coming back with my gal soon and I hope that we can enjoy a few of our old favorites again… and it will be nice to see Jerry again!

Lunch chopped chicken salad– the price is way over priced for what you get. Bed of plain lettuce with cherry red tomatoes were added and a half of an avocado. Appearance wise for a nice looking restaurant like this, it looked very cheap and not appealing. Would have been nice to have grilled chickens instead it was cold cut chicken that was probably made this morning. Tried the mashed potatoes of of my friends plate. Salty and seemed like they were instant potatoes that were mixed with real potatoes. Very dry. Crème brûlée– looking for that silky smooth custard. Instead was like cottage cheeses that was very very dry. Service– very very slow. Not attentive. Not nice. The waiter didn’t listen.

We went with a group from work to celebrate several birthdays and a retirement. Pork chop was the best I’ve had. Very tender and tasty. Wine pour seemed scant but the waiter assured me it was the state regulated 5oz(the large glass made it look like less) – not sure I buy that. The manager comped us several desserts to go with our celebration. They were all very good.

I had the pleasure of visiting Spencer’s while staying at the Hilton Hotel during a conference. I didn’t want to pay extra for room service so I walked down to the restaurant and sat at the bar. The bartender was exceedingly attentive and had a drink for me as soon as I finished my previous one. Not wanting a large meal, I just ordered the macaroni and cheese and a side of grilled asparagus. I must say the macaroni and cheese was excellent and the grilled asparagus was perfection. the portions were larger than the stated side size and it easily made a fulfilling meal for me. I highly recommend Spencers for food, for drinks, or for excellent service!

I went to Spencer’s because it was in my hotel. Like other viewers, I found it overpriced and underwhelming. I ordered the house mixed greens and added a piece of salmon. The food was okay, but I’ve definitely had better. The same could be said for the service. The waitress was nice, but service was quite slow and she was not all that attentive to me or to the tables around me. Also, at the end of the meal, she neither asked me if I wanted dessert nor brought the dessert menu. Probably, I would have passed, but I did briefly think about it. Frankly, she seemed most concerned with closing out her tickets. Considering the number of wonderful restaurants and steakhouses in downtown Salt Lake, this place has some work to do in order to compete. There are WAY better options just a stones throw from this hotel.

I’ve been to Spencer’s twice for business dinners. They certainly don’t disappoint on the quality of their food. Their steaks and other meats are fantastic! Keeping in mind this is an a la carte menu, it is still ridiculous that a side of about 10 stalks of Asparagus is $ 11. I’m sorry, did they rub them with fairy dust? Was I supposed to find a prize in one of the stalks? The service was very good both times. The atmosphere is nice and overall a good dining experience, but slightly overpriced. I believe the three star average they have is warranted.
