The first time i went here it was great and i loved it! And i went back a couple times after and it was good. The last time I went however, they were extremely rude and my burrito was half the size. Never returning here.

This is conveniently on our way home after Monday night’s kid activity. But it would be worth a detour. They load up your enormous burrito with your choice of meat(carne asana for me, barbacoa for the kid, anything for the hubs), you put all your salsa and veggies in there and then deliver it back to the ladies to magically roll it tight. Soooo good. Three burritos, $ 10 including a tip and everyone is happy.

The food was incredible I had 12 tacos, six pork and six beef. The people didn’t speak very much English, but we’re friendly and helpful. I live in Los Angeles and these tacos are just as good! Can’t wait to get more while on vacation.

Great food. Even better prices. The Über to get to the corner they sit on cost twice as much as dinner for me and my driver! $ 4.50 for a burrito and two tacos.

Came to get Mexican food, after being disappointed with other businesses being closed early because of the snow storm. By the way, we were searching for a hamburger joint. Anyways, KUDOS to the ladies working the vending cart in this first snow storm of this season! That’s dedication and passion right there. Tacos are so damn cheap. Best $ 9 I have ever spent to feed two! We got 11 tacos. 11! ELEVEN. It was so nice having hot steaming tacos, to contrast with the ice cold toppings. Which by the way is self serve and is in a cooler chest. So, since it was snowing, when we opened the chest, the snow would land on top of the toppings which made the good goods super duper cold and gave a delicious bite! My boyfriend and I are originally from Southern California visiting SLC, and the food we ate was quite reminiscent of home. Damn, if we lived here we’d be regulars!

So delicious I came back for round two! First of all, tacos are only 75 cents each. Special meats like Cabeza and lengua are $ 1.50 each. The al pastor was flavorful and juicy. Asada was nicely charred and the meat was tender. Spicy pork was very juicy and flavorful, but not really spicy. Now for the stars of this truck… Lengua(tongue) and Cabeza(head) were amazing! They’re slow cooked until tender and moist. They have a little condiment station with really good salsas that have just the right kick for spiciness, onions & cilantro, pico, and radishes.

Tacos don Rafa and toro taco are the two best taco trucks in downtown slc. 2 tacos for $ 2.50 and burritos, quesadillas, etc for $ 3. I feel like tacos don Rafa sometimes gives more meat(especially carnitas) to get more customers because their line is usually shorter than toro taco. Cooler with add one are always appreciated. The people are always friendly

This place is good. My wife and I both ordered burritos, and they cannot be beat for the price. The food is comparable to Toro Tacos, but I enjoyed Toro Tacos a little more. I would recommend Tacos Don Rafa to anybody though.

Great tacos. I’ve gotten them a few times and my work always gets them for private catering events. Can’t go wrong with these tacos. They are fantastic.

said that I didn’t pay, after i did. customers in line behind me even stated that I did pay. THEN, in the burrito, there was a long piece of hair, 12 + inches, they wouldn’t do anything about it it was gross, and just didn’t feel like eating their food after that! I came here because of the high reviews, and was looking forward to yummy street tacos and my friend wanted a burrito.

Great food, prices, and a unique experience. Best tortilla I have ever had! The prices are amazing. There is a topping and salsa self-serve bar with radishes, jalapenos, salsas, carrots, etc. The burrito was $ 3 and was a good size. My partner and I bought 3 tacos, a burrito, and a can of soda and the total was $ 5.50. The only downside of this place was that there is nowhere to sit comfortably and it was really hot. However, that’s a small problem when you’re getting this much delicious food for so little money. In addition to the great food, going to this food cart is an amusing experience. The operators seemed unconcerned with getting our money. They clearly trusted us and worried about serving the people in line behind us rather than worrying about making sure we paid. I appreciated this detail a lot. We sat on the concrete ledge and ate our food and then told them what we bought, sort of like how people used to buy gas.

Hungry in Salt Lake with a buck fifty in your pocket? Then head on over to SLC’s downtown abandoned Sears parking lot for the best street tacos. Ever. Anywhere. If I’m passing through Salt Lake I always time it to catch a few or half dozen carne asada, al pastor or barbacoa tacos. Nothing more and nothing less than a taco should be. Perfection. Viva Tacos Don Rafa!

This is the East side truck facing state street, and this my favorite place to go for street food in Salt Lake. The large parking lot makes it easy to access, and the lines go super fast. For just $ 3 I can get a large burrito full of deliciously grilled meat on a deliciously delicate tortilla. You get to load it up with all the toppings yourself, so pile on some onions, peppers, sour cream, and multiple hot sauces to spice it up. The only trick then, is to eat it all from a styrofoam plate while outside without a table. I usually end up spilling at least some on my pants and shirt, but oh it is well worth it. Never any regrets about coming here for lunch or dinner.

Not all taco carts are the same. Look, I’ve been to Tacos Don Rafa at least a hundred times. That’s right. You heard me. A hundred times. In fact, I’ve eaten at TDR more times than any other eating establishment, anywhere, anytime. Why? Well, it’s been there forever. And, straight up, it’s the best taco cart in the city. Because I love variety, and am generally charitable by nature, I periodically try another cart. Without naming names, they all fall short. The flavor of their tacos and burritos are simply not as good. Plus, TDR has a more comprehensive condiment cooler. And they seem to place a higher emphasis on cleanliness and hygiene. One thing TDR does have in common with all the rest, is that it is rare that I get service with a smile. Stoic, and possibly depressed, the servers all seem to lack any enthusiasm or joy. That’s too bad. Because they should be proud that they rock out such an amazing, affordable, and authentic product.

Used Tacos Don Rafa to cater for an event today thanks to another Unilocaler’s recommendation. They were truly amazing. Professional, reliable, affordable and some dang good authentic street tacos. They also rolled up in a brand new large taco truck that truly makes a statement. Will definitely use these guys again!

2 tacos for $ 1.50 is by far one of the cheapest meals I’ve ever had. This stand is right in front of Sears on state street and is always open. The tacos are made to order, authentic and there’s a ton of different salsas to choose from if you wanna kick up the spice factor. If you’re adventurous, get the lengua(tongue) taco. It’s like pot roast on a tortilla. Yum.

Best, most authentic tacos I’ve had outside of Mexico. And Cheap! I’m not really sure what else I need to tell you, other than check this place out as soon as you get a chance. I drove by this place for years without checking it out! Then, one fateful night, I headed to my Unilocal App in hopes of taking care of a craving for mexican food. Boom, Tacos Don Rafa… I thought to myself, «Nooooo, it can’t be that little stand I’ve gone by so many times.» But alas, it was. And now I crave this place much more than I should publicly admit. $ 1.50 for 2 tacos?! $ 3 for a burrito?! It’s going to be a struggle to resist overeating. Pick your type of meat, watch em do their thing, and then pick & add your toppings that can be found in a cooler to the side. Try it. You won’t regret it. There’s another stand on the same corner. It’s great as well, same prices & all, but the meat isn’t typically as moist as Don Rafas.

2 tacos for $ 1.50? A burrito for $ 3? Crazy. The taco carts seemed to be doing more business than Sears, whose parking lot they’re on the edge of. It’s a little DIY as they give you your meat on the tortillas and you add fixin’s yourself, like onions or salsa, from the blue coolers next to the cart. If you get a burrito, they will roll it up after you add the toppings you want. The al pastor is not spit roasted, but had good flavor. The carne asada was flavorful, but a little dry. Definitely not skimpy with the meat portions( ). 3.5 stars. Rounding up for value.

You need a taco fix? You’ve come to the right spot. I usually go with the carne asada or lengua. Lots of fresh salsa and toppings so you can customize your tacos. Oh and the prices are excellent.
