Never really had a problem here, low prices for good food, and they’ll wrap your food to go. Some meats are spicy, but if that’s not a problem then there’s no wrong choice here.

This is my favorite lunch place. I am seriously here at least two or three days a week. It helps that it is within walking distance of my office but they have the best chicken burrito I have ever had. Tacos and quesadillas are also excellent. Best place for lunch under $ 5.

Who doesn’t love street tacos?! They are always there rain, snow, or summer heat. They even gave me a chocolate over the holidays. No need to go anywhere else.

Being born and raised in California, I have yet to find a place here in Utah that can even compare to the Mexican food you get back in Cali, until this place!

This place is AWESOME! After a few days in the promised land I needed some zip in my diet. Spicy, delicious and CHEAP! What more do you need? I had the carnitas and al Pastor tacos and my newly released missionary son had the small steak quesadilla. He was full and that is no small feat. I love how fast the service was and how clean the operation. Two cooks on one side and a money handler on the other. Coolers kept the condiments fresh and cold. Well done all around! Tacos Hildalgo puts the fast in fast food and tastes a whole lot better, too.

We stopped at this food cart on a road trip and didn’t regret it! The tacos are delicious, made quickly, and they don’t break the bank, even for a party of five! They have a variety of condiments and drinks to choose from. Wish they could put tables out to sit at, but the tacos are definitely worth a stop!

More than solid taco truck. Steak had great flavor. Plenty of salsa choices. Prices are excellent. Owners are very friendly. Highly recommend.

I believe one of the most important experiences you could possibly have when you live and/or visit a big city is try something off a food cart. And in most cases, you should only do this once because a lot of food carts serve terrible food. Tacos Hidalgo is not one of those food carts. This food is amazing and affordable. I’m one of those guys who asks the waiter to recommend something when I try a new place for the first time. I have eaten here several times and I’m still not sure what anything is called because I always ask them to make me something they’d like. Every time, I have not been disappointed. I’m a fan of this food. If you want to try something incredible, authentic and new, this is a must-try place.

I am adventurous. After having lived in big cities and traveled to Dhabas in India, I will not be too uppity to try something, either. This is a simple truck stand. It has a choice of Tacos, Burritos, and quesadillas. There are four choices of meat: Pollo, Steak, Spicy Pork, Pork and Chorizzo. The garnishes are around the end of the truck: Guacamole, salsa, sauces, etc. You cannot beat the price, and the taste. The food is awesome, and it reminds me of the food I’ve eaten in Mexico. The food is fresh and tasty. They even have a breakfast selection which I will try, too. Awesome and fast… Two thumbs up!

I walk 1.5 miles both ways just to have these guys make me a burrito or streat taco. Chicken, steak, pork or spicy pork, any meat it’s good and tender. Burritos are big and well worth the money, 1.00 street tacos can’t be beat and the fresh cilantro, pinco, pickled jalapenos and onions are awesome to top off with tamatilo sauce and hot sauce. They provide service you just can’t find elsewhere. Ps. Cash only but worth it without the rip off

This is one of the best places I’ve eaten at for Mexican food. Raul, the guy cooking my food made some jokes to get me to laugh while preparing my food. The tacos melt in your mouth and take you back to Mexico(if you’ve ever been)

Delicious food cart food. And the price is unbeatable. The cook warms your tortillas on the grill and then adds meat. You add the condiments from a cooler, which include pico, red and green salsa, cabbage, cilantro, sour cream, and peppers. I tried the carne asada and the pastor. I would recommend both.

The only way to beat yummy tacos is to make the a buck each. The line is evidence it is tasty but you must try it yourself.

Best. Taco Cart. Ever! Unilocalers clued me in to this place and I’m sure glad. I LOVE street tacos. And I LIKE taco carts. I’ve always preferred to get my street tacos«off road» where I can sit down, enjoy the coolness or heat, depending on the season, and maybe even have an ice cold cerveza. Tacos Hidalgo has made me rethink that position. This place is flawless. The tacos are $ 1 and are stuffed with meat. I had asada and al pastor and both were excellent. Among the best I’ve had anywhere. I preferred the al pastor, which was a little more flavorful than the steak, but I wouldn’t hesitate to order either variety again. Both of the meats were high-quality, freshly cooked and delicious. The condiment bar was amazing! The pico de gallo was made with real, actual, tomatoes instead of the«picked green and ‘ripened’ on the way across 3 states» sweat shop tomatoes that are so plentiful. There was cilantro, 3 kinds of salsa, limes, onions and Mexican crema. This Coleman cooler beats the heck out of most salsa bars in town. The service was excellent. They had one guy taking orders and cooking and a young kid taking money and making change. There was a line when I arrived, but it still only took about 5 minutes to get my food after I arrived. Fast! I still love eating in a climate-controlled environment, but Tacos Hidalgo is going in to my regular lunch rotation, starting now.

your standard taco cart BUT clean and fresh food. Burritos, quesadillas, tacos. Meats are chicken, steak, carnitas(pork) Breakfast burritos in the morning and they are really good — love getting them some mornings. They are very friendly. I’ve been to a few, and frankly many seem gross. This place has their foods separated into bags, the same guy cooks and covers your food, and a separate guy takes the money. The owner also owns Nico’s Restaurant on North Temple.

First off, I’d like to say that I’m a huge fan of Taco Carts. I think they offer the best taco/burritos you can get at a fraction of the price. Now, not all taco carts are created equal. I have some basic criteria that I use to compare taco stands against other taco stands. — Compare carne asada and al pastor — Compare tacos/burritos — Condiments/salsa — Cleanliness — Location So, on this basis, Tacos Hiladago is the best in the state. His asada/pastor is second to none in both taco/burrito form. The pastor is well seasoned(not over/under). The asada is leaner meat and less fatty. Also, both types of meat are not dry or soupy. The condiments are pretty standard; but always well stocked and clean. I think this is the part where he stands out from everyone else; he has the cleanest taco carts I’ve seen. I don’t mind a cart that looks old, but not dirty. His cart’s are newer and clean. Also, his location down by ‘The Depot’/Energy Solutions Arena has plenty of street parking. But the best feature compared to taco stands down by Sears; is the lack of people asking me for money or to sell me laptops out of suspicious bags. Now, with all of this said, I believe that Hiladago is the best taco stand in the valley. This is compared to the following: — Tacos Don Rafa(sears parking lot) — Tacos del Toro(sears parking lot) — The other taco stands at Sears but don’t remember their names off hand. — Three Brothers Tacos — The taco stand in Sugarhouse by Barnes & Noble — Sure some other taco stand downtown that just didn’t stand out to remember the name The best of the above is Three Brothers Tacos. Always by Bar X on the weekends and great tacos and you can use a credit card after I have donated all my cash to Bar X. His Al Pastor meat is the closest to Hiladago that I’ve had and definitely worth trying. I wish he had a spot that he was at consistently at in Salt Lake or a Twitter feed to follow where he is at currently. Third place after Hiladago/Three Brothers is Tacos del Toro. The Al Pastor has less flavor than it used to. I think the recipe has changed; but still good. The only issue is as I mentioned earlier, people asking for money, only place to sit is on a ledge with pigeon poop everywhere. In short, Tacos Hiladago is amazing. I love getting a burrito and sitting under a shaded tree in the summer downtown. His catering is amazing too and very well priced. I would suggest it to anyone. I’ve had him do three events for my work and people who swore they would never eat street vendor tacos love them now cause of him. Definitely try it out, you won’t be disappointed.

This place is amazing! I am not very adventuresome. I had heard great things about this place so since it was a beautiful day we decided to venture out! WOW! For $ 3.00 I received the best 3 tacos I have ever had. They did not skimp on the meat and the toppings were build your own. I got the Spicy Pork, Chicken and Steak tacos. They also have a Pork taco but 3 was more than my limit. My friend got a «monster» steak burrito. Amazing! The men were very nice. I love Café Rio and I am willing to stand in line out the door but I have to say this was no competition. It was so much better and a 1⁄3 the price! Tacos Hidalgo is my new favorite lunchtime place! Olé!

This is another great Mexican food stand on the streets of SLC. The format isn’t much different than the rest of ‘em. Set up a stand with a few kinds of meat, offer some tacos or a burrito, get your fixins from a cooler on the side of the cart, and dive in. Where Hidalgo shines is the meat. Pollo, carne asada, adobada. All extremely well done and tender. Sometimes you worry about them drying out a little, but that was not the case, at least today. Perfectly moist, and downright gooey if you got it in smothered burrito form. I chose a tasty sampler of three tacos and really enjoyed each one. The spicy chicken was indeed spicy, but my wussy mouth survived just fine and I’d do it again. The asada was my favorite. Topped with green salsa, hot salsa, a little cabbage and some pico de gallo I couldn’t stop winning. Tacos will set you back $ 1.25, the burrito $ 4.50 so it’s a bargain. They know what they do well and they stick with it, which means you get great food, but may start craving a wider selection if you eat there every day. Get your nom nom on with their tasty Mex, pop over to Gateway and walk the shops, and you’ll be hungry for more on the way back to your car. Hidalgo!
