Decided to stop in to The Bagel Project today(June 12) after driving by it a bunch of times. I came in 30 min so I didn’t have a wide variety. The girl helping recommended the salt bagel with the honey cream cheese and a jam I got that with a blueberry jam and it was amazing ! I also got the bialy bagel with plane cream cheese and It was so so. I was not a fan of the onions. The man who took my payment was very nice as well. Definitely will be coming in more often.

I really enjoy their bagels. The bialys need help, but the bagels are an excellent interpretation of a classic NYC bagel The staff is always pleasant, but the clientele, primarily consisting of members of the«hipster» subculture, are always sullen, aloof, and frowning. Is this affect necessary to be admitted to the citizenry of «The Hipster Nation?»

I’ve never been a fan of Bagels. I didn’t grow up in New York City, I grew up in a heavily Jewish area of Chicago. Although I wouldn’t really know, I assume the bagels at the local delis were good. I didn’t love them. It’s mostly the texture. The process of making them guarantees they do not have a crumb like bread would. It doesn’t do it. The wife and adult kid do love them. So, here I am. There’s not much of an option that doesn’t involve a bagel. So, after all the Bagel hate, I have to say — I could eat these Bagels — and enjoy them. Kudos.

I’m so happy SLC finally has a bagel shop that’s not Einsteins! I love this place so much, the bagels are the best I’ve had in Utah. I definitely come to this place several times a month and have loved every experience. The only downside is that they get very busy which can make popping in and out quickly kind of hard but it’s more than worth it!

I definitely don’t say this lightly. This is one of the best lox bagels I’ve ever had!

The bagel project has the creamiest cheesiest cream cheese, ever. There are gratuitous and vast amounts of cream cheese on every bagel and that’s honestly all a cream cheese and bagel enthusiast can hope for. What is a bagel but a vessel for cream cheese to sail into your mouth? For real, though, when that cream cheese collides with my taste buds accompanied by a delicious and gluten filled bagel. I’m a happy camper. The bagels here are really good, they stick to some staple flavors which is nice. It was kind of hard for my nephew who is 3 to pick a colorful bagel like he’s used to but we got it figured out(mixing the jelly with the cream cheese makes it purple). The price point here is great, cheaper for an egg sandwich here than at(insert large corporate bagel place), so that’s incredible. The service is always super friendly and spot on, greeting everyone who enters or exits which is above and beyond. The girl working the morning of 5⁄11 was particularly helpful! Thank you, bagel connoisseur and aficionado. Finally the coffee here is beyond expectation. They have Publik and Blue Copper options. With three roasts to choose from, I was stoked to get all hyped on caffeine and to maybe help even out the amount of cream cheese and bagel I chose to ingest. The inside of the spot is clean and cozy. They provide water. I have zero complaints about this place. I even love that once they sell out of bagels, that’s it, finito!

$ 3 for a bagel!!! Insane! The salt bagel with plain cream cheese is amazing! The onion and garlic bagels are just as good. Parking can be a little annoying when it’s busy and there’s not a lot of space in the restaurant, the bagels are delicious and the service is wonderful.

A mixed first visit, but definitely a place I’ll return to. The Everything Bagel tasted great and had a distinct bite of salt. Bagels have a great outside crispness and a pleasant softness inside. Apparently a very popular place so arrive early or they’ll run out of stuff such as Lox by 10:30am. Service was very friendly but food takes a long time getting out, like 10 – 15 minutes. Prices are high. The store also lacks enough seating to match their popularity so you may find yourself standing, or jammed sardine-like amongst the beautiful customers here. This makes going with small children a headache. My advice? Send one parent inside to order while the other elbows out some outdoor seating space.

Came late to the place near 2pm when they get ready to close for the day. My choices weren’t great as all they had was the salted bagel, I ordered it with Lox & Loaded. It was delicious! I need to get her much earlier to try the other goodies, their bagels are excellent and it is about time we found a place that makes them to good here in Utah.

The secret to a good bagel is not the water in NYC. That is hard for me to admit being a native New Yorker who grew up believing H&H bagels was the best ever. 22 years removed from living there did nothing to change my mind until I visited the Bagel Project in SLC. The bagels are exactly what I remember from back home. A must visit for anyone looking for a great bagel. An added plus is that everything used and sold in the shop is local product. Some very good coffee can be found and a special pastry for the day is available also.

Definitely a much needed place in Salt Lake. Not a huge fan of the other offerings by those smarty pants with schmear bagels. They have publik coffee which is a great pairing. I wish they would have Egg bagels, which are a staple where I’m from. The sesame seed count on the sesame bagel seemed a bit sparse for my liking. They had cool cream cheese offerings and creative sandwiches from sweet to savory to fit any mood/taste. This place does a lot of good things, has a hipster vibe and makes delicious bagels. Would definitely come back again. Check it out!

Finally! A delicious bagel in SLC that you can feel great about consuming, and also feel great about supporting. Though the Bagel Project has been in Rico’s old location for a while now, the only times I had had any BP bagels was during the Summer Farmer’s Market. After finally making it over to their permanent location, I know I’ll be visiting a ton more. I came in on a Saturday around 11am — and was severely surprised by just how many people were there. Any time I’ve driven by in the past, the inside seemed pretty absent of people… but at a prime time on a weekend, it was insane. All tables were taken(there are only a few of them inside), and everyone else was either standing and waiting for a table, their bagel, or trying to get one of the 2 tables outside. I was meeting with a book group, and since it was hard to situate into a nice comfortable area inside, we took our bagels and coffee to go. I hadn’t eaten all day, and decided to go with a bagel sandwich in lieu of just one with cream cheese — so of course the Poblano Picasso screamed my name. With a spicy spread, Manchego cheese and a bunch of veggies, this sandwich was very yummy… but I wouldn’t say $ 7.50 yummy. Definitely getting anything at The Bagel Project that’s not just a bagel with cream cheese will be a rare treat for me. I left 10 dollars lighter with just a sandwich and small coffee. That being said, after complaining about the price… I really shouldn’t complain about price, because along with what I love about local Salt Lake companies… The Bagel Project’s bagels are completely vegan, and free of any preservatives and sugars, and locally sourced when available. There’s no reason NOT to eat here now. Still though, I felt it was a little more expensive than I would have liked. They also have Bialys here! I’ve never seen any in Salt Lake before… the only time I’ve tried one in the past was in Portland. I’ll say it again, again, and continually say it… Salt Lake is getting more and more hip by the day. I have yet to try The Bagel Project’s version of a bialy, but it contains caramelized onions — a huge food trigger point for me — so the consumption will be happening as soon as humanly possible. My suggestion for perfectly fitting a delicious bagel into your day in 3 easy steps: –Get together with a friend/lover/companion/acquaintance on a Saturday. –Grab a bagel(and possibly a coffee) –Take a nice stroll around the very conveniently close Liberty Park. You’ll be eating healthier while also getting healthier. What a perfect mix.

Wow, this place is impressive. I’ve been wanting to try it out since I moved downtown a few weeks ago. My team at work wanted bagels and this place was on my way, great excuse to go. I got two dozen, sliced, for my team. I then got the Lox to stay on a garlic bagel. As I saw people coming in to get their fix for their ride to work I couldn’t imagine having to drive while eating the Lox as it was such a great experience I wouldn’t want to have to focus on anything else. They had Publik coffee, local coffee I’d been wanting to try for ages. They had local eggs and kombucha you could add to your order. I’m in love with this place. My team loved the dozen. Someone who isn’t a bagel person said while eating one, «maybe I’m a bagel person now!»

I was driving around looking for a good deli sandwich in Unilocal turned me on to the bagel bagel project. It was a nice quaint little restaurant with very nice people. We tried a salmon bagel sandwich in the trout bagel sandwich on everything bagels. Definitely a stroke of genius and extremely light and healthy. I would given 5 stars if there was a larger selection, but there is something to be said for doing a small selection with excellence. Coffee excellent as well.

The best bagels in SLC. Not that they have much competition. I usually go with the everything bagel and lox cream cheese. Great way to start the morning.

I really like the Bagel Project and I am especially appreciative that they took over the old Rico building(after several other failed business attempts from others) and I hope they remain a fixture in the neighborhood. I think they have done a fantastic job remodeling the space and keeping up the historic building. They focus on a few varieties of bagels and for those that they do, they do well. For Salt Lakers, think of this as an artisanal bagel… this is not Einsteins, it is much better(and the price reflects that). The bagels are fantastic, their sandwiches are good. I really like their savory options as I am not a fan of anything sweet for breakfast/brunch/lunch. I did like the Poblano Picasso option — very tasty. Yes parking is problematic, but that is a small price to pay for a local business in a historic building in a historic district. Yes, you may need to park on the street and walk a little bit but the reward(fantastic bagels) is worth it. They have some outdoor seating– which is fantastic on a spring/summer/autumn day. The staff is great and they did not make fun of me when I mispronounced«bialy.» oops. One complaint: I wish they were open on Sunday. It would be nice to grab a bagel on the way to Liberty Park. boo!

How the hell did I only just now come to find out you existed?!! Thank you for having the genius idea to just get up and make your own bagel shop when you realized Utah does not have them. I should have thought of that when I moved here in 09 instead of suffering and torturing myself with having to consume Einstein round dough things with wholes in the middle. won’t call them bagels. I drove by the other week and nearly broke my neck when I saw the shop and instantly knew this place had to have east coast style bagels. I could just sense it. Home was calling me. I am helping my mom move today with my fellow NY family members and when I finally decided to look at your website and see what the story was I instantly knew I had to go completely out of the way from Murray before driving to Heber to get a sample to bring to my family. As soon as I walked in I was immediately assured I would be satisfied with the product. The open space, the wood panels, the artwork, the display of the bagels, the aroma, the refrigerated items… it all has the feel of an east coast bagel shop. Top it off with an amazingly friendly cashier and pro bagel preparing crew and it was 4 stars off the bat. Without even tasting them I order 2 baker’s dozen to take to the fam and one plain toasted with smear to take in the car for instant indulgence. Handed over in that perfect white bagel wrap paper with the perfect fold… As soon as I unwrap it I know I won’t be disappointed. I take that first bite and I’m in heaven…5 stars! Instantly taken back to Astoria and home. The bite through the crisp outer layer into the impeccable doughy center with just the right amount of smear.(unfortunately they forgot to toast it but that was my boyfriend’s request I was perfectly satisfied with it as is). I can’t wait to share this find with my family today so we can be transported back to the home we miss dearly. I can’t believe I forgot to pick up some black & whites, those are my favorites and something I always bring back with me after a trip back to NY. But I will of course be back and try it on another visit. Thank you Bagel Project for existing! You have absolutely made me the happiest New Yorker in Utah!!!

If you are looking for a bagel in Salt Lake City or Utah, The Bagel Project is for you. These folks have old fashioned, boiled bagels, similar to those in Utah. They have had their brick and mortar store opened for a bit and are expanding their options. Of course they have bagels(salt, onion, plain, bialys, poppy, sesame, and cinnamon raisin), but they have expanded to have white fish salad, pastries, and sandwiches. They also have various kinds of whipped cream cheeses(chive, plain, and lox). My favorites are salt(a little drier than the other bagels) and onion bagels either with chive or lox cream cheese. If I am in the mood and want to treat myself, I will get the Lox and Loaded bagel. The lox and all the fish are cured in house. They have dozen and half dozen bagels to go. They feature coffee and juices to wash down your bagel. The staff is super friendly as are the owners. Parking is a little challenging, but there is plenty of parking on the street. The only criticism I have is that bagel size is not that consistent. Sometimes I have gotten really small bagels, but no one is perfect. If you are looking for a bagel in Salt Lake, then look no further. Swing by The Bagel Project see what they have to offer. I would suggest a bagel with lox, but you don’t have to take my word for it.
