This place is a gamble. Yes, it’s very cheap. But you get what you pay for. If You like your hair to be cut very simply, buzzed down, this place will be fine. If you have longer hair that is styled, I would warn against coming here. The barbers each have about three haircuts they can do well, and after that it’s a roll of the dice. May fortune be ever in your favor at dollar barber shop.

Very important you know this first, going in… this is one of the few(thankfully) places around going cash only. Now, you’re not probably going to be spending a chunk here with most hair cuts at $ 6, but still, they’re not springing for a card reader, not even one of those Square things, so bring the green stuff if you go here. That out of the way, I back this place. This was one of the first places I went to when I first moved to Utah and I could always count on a quality cut for a few bucks(loads cheaper when I went for myself then). The location wasn’t convenient was the reason I primarily stopped, but outside of a private individual who was visiting from CA, these guys gave out the best haircut I’ve had in the state and factually, probably my life… eventually, I tired of spending money on hair in general, cuts(when I couldn’t be bothered to do it myself with mirrors), shampoo, conditioner, all of it and just wound up going shaved. That was a happy event and something I can easily maintain, which I do to this day, so the latest visit, some years removed, was for my son. Same skill, same brilliant competence and friendliness. This isn’t so much a place to hang out as to come in, get snipped and get out again and for that, it’s aces. There also seems to be a barber for every ethnicity, so this is as much one place fits all as can be. Not to say that one can’t do the style of another, but people get weird about their hair sometimes and in these great melting pot times of ours, there could also be some language barrier considerations, so I mention this as what I suspect it is; more a concession to the potential comfort of the patrons than anything else. Parking is mostly on the street, but it’s right on 700 E. by 700 S. on the east side of the street, so it’s pretty convenient(honestly, it was not convenient only in the days when I either didn’t have a car or spent most of my time in the deeper west side… or both) overall. If you’re in the market for a good quality cut, this is a good spot to hit.

This barber shop is perfect for the simple man with simple needs. No bells, no whistles, no frills, just a quick haircut for only $ 6 bucks and you’re out of there. It can get busy, but there’s usually enough people working there that you won’t have to wait very long if at all. My favorite part was the lack of annoying small talk from my barber. I enjoyed my haircut in silence as I thought of all the things I could buy with the money I saved by coming here. Some things to remember: it’s cash only, walk-in only, and specialty cuts like flat tops and mohawks are $ 12.

Easily the worst place to get a haircut in Salt Lake City. They have no idea what they are doing in there. Sure you pay $ 6 for a cut(minus the tip they don’t deserve) but the actual haircut is TERRIBLE. I’m a guy and don’t care that much about my hair, but I also don’t want to look like a fool walking around with a haircut that looks like a drunkard got me with clippers. Save yourself the money and the dissatisfaction.

I’ve been coming to this barbershop for over 8 years now. And it’s mainly for Phi(my barber) She’s always busy, but it’s worth it. To be honest, it’s an old school barbershop. Probably best price in town. But if Phi wasn’t cutting there, I probably stop going there. Weekends are busy and they have limited parking. So that has always been the downside. Plus, you’re most likely going to sit and wait for a few min. I’ve seen some of the barbers rushing through their cuts, just to get to the next customer. I wouldn’t like that if somebody didn’t take a little time and cut my hair right. Just my two cents. no phone, and no appointments. Walk in only.

Nothing fancy here, the cuts are $ 5 but if you just want a simple cut with no fuss this place meets the bill. Two rows of chairs and plenty of underpaid barbers means you won’t have to wait long, even on a busy Friday or weekend. Not open Sundays.
