The toys are really cute here. They are a little pricier than major retailers, but it’s nice to support local. The layout is overwhelming, it’s separated by brand rather than age/type of toy. The downside is the staff. They’re really not excited to be helping. They’re all teenagers, which is fine, but they aren’t polite ones. I was juggling my 1 year old, 3 boxes of toys, and I wanted to write in a card on the counter while there was a pen handy. The girl working the register got very irritated I was writing in a card there, she got huffy and moved the cup of pens to the other side of me(I was not blocking other customers from checking out). It is nice that they gift wrap for free. But I’m not sure I’ll come back.

You’ll never even consider buying toys anywhere else after shopping here. They only carry incredible and well made toys. Love it.

Having been back a number of times since my first review has only served to reinforce my first rating. There are things they could do better, but a lot of stuff in there you will find nowhere else. Store is clean, staff is extraordinary helpful and this particular location remains the crème de la crème of this type of store in the market.

We love The Red Balloon. It’s our favorite toy store. We buy all our birthday presents for friends here and shop here for our own kids all the time. They have a great selection of speciality and educational toys and they carry all the best brands. Plus, they offer complimentary gift wrapping which has been a life saver for me more times than I can count. Service is always friendly. And yes, they do employee teenagers but they are always polite and friendly. The only complaint I have is that I wish someone who was knowledgable about all the merchandise was in store to answer questions. But overall we love The Red Balloon and will keep coming back.

Classic toys mostly… Seems like under 21 year old«kids» run the place. I have never seen an adult behind the counter or owner to be present. Not many commercially«popular» toys. Everything is classic, meaning that your kids may«have never heard of» what they sell… No Trash Packs, Shopkins, or Crashlings… Not much in Thomas Brand trains(old stock only.) …(they have mostly«Brio») If you are looking for those molded rubber animals, They have a huge lighted wall of them.

If you’re wondering where to buy toys these days without having to shop at a big box, look no further than Red Balloon. This small, strip mall shop is bursting with toys and with character. Located on the north side of 3300 S. near 2000 E, you’ll see the sign at the strip mall with the red balloon that tells you you’re getting close. There’s not much parking in the area, but unless you’re there at a peak time, you’ll probably find a place to pull in. When you walk in, get ready to have your eyes explode from all of the colors, whizz-bangs, doohickeys and sparklywhirls. You’ll feel a little like you’ve walked into the Willy Wonka factory of toys. Pink girl stuff, dark and macho boy stuff; something for every kid. If you have a hard time focusing, you may just want to stay away. You could spend hours here looking at all the toys — weeks if you bring your kids with you. I’m not plugged into the toy world at all these days, so I’m not the best reference for what hot toys they do and don’t carry. But I can generally say they do have fun toys and smart toys. You know – toys that are supposed to make your kids smarter. Really, though, you just have to come and cruise the packed to the gills shelves yourself to find that magical toy to take home.

One of my go to places for kids birthday party’s! This place is filled with quality toys for all ages. The best part though, is that they gift wrap for free! Perfect for us lazy people! ;). It is a little more expensive than the«big box» retailers but worth it to know you are supporting local business!

Red Balloon is a super cute little specialty store in a strip mall off 33rd South. I saw it on my way to Smith’s to both grocery shop and maybe get a gift for a niece but it was 5 minutes until they closed so I was hesitant about whether or not I should check it out. There were still a ton of people in the store so I popped in for a quick look. Reminds me of a tiny, low budget FAO Schwartz. They had lots and lots of Melissa & Doug toys which I really love, and is what I ended up getting. The teen boys working there were so nice, too. It was totally closing time and they were still cheerful and not shoo-ing anyone out in any way. I will be back when they aren’t about to close and hen I don’t feel guilty for browsing longer. They had a lot to offer and I want to soak it all in.
