Bottom line up front: Unprofessional and will leave you in a lurch. We initially reached out to Miao-Miao as we were looking for a bi-lingual daycare for our twins to serve as their first daycare, and my wife began talking with Joanna 4 months out from when we wanted to bring the kids over. It was no secret that when the kids came to her daycare they would be a little over 1 year old and Joanna indicated this wasn’t an issue. In fact it was such a non-issue that she asked for an immediate prepayment for 1 month of care, which we accommodated in cash. A week before bringing the kids in for the first time we scheduled a 2 hour play-time/visit for a final observation and orientation. During the visit Joanna began complaining that being the youngest children in her care, the twins would require extra attention, and she mentioned it multiple times. I didn’t find the statements to be particularity surprising because they were true; younger children simply require more attention, but as I mentioned earlier, this was no surprise as she had known for months that they would be coming. The first morning arrived and my wife dropped them off; they were predictably upset when she went to leave and because they were so upset and had soiled themselves on the trip over, my wife stayed for an extra hour to change them and help them settle in before finally having to leave to go to work. When she arrived that evening Joanna released the children to her and told her the twins were no longer welcome because they were«too much work.» She received the original cash deposit in the form of a personal check which fortunately did clear. Miao-Miao requires from its customers 30 days of notice before withdrawing children from their program. However the same type of courtesy is not extended to their customers; we were not even given a day or two of coverage to allow us to secure alternate care. It doesn’t take an expert in child-rearing to grasp the concept that it takes children at least a few days(if not weeks) to adjust to a new environment and caretakers; this basic lack of understanding, and patience for the children in their care reveals the shortcomings of Joanna and her partner’s capabilities and calls into question their overall qualifications. Furthermore the abrupt dismissal of our kids(on the first day!) and the hypocrisy of their cancellation policy(which is designed purely for their financial benefit) demonstrates their poor business ethics and overall lack of professionalism. At the end of it all my wife and I find ourselves in a bind for the remainder of the week as most other caregivers have month-long waiting lists. She’ll end up taking additional time off work to care for the twins until we are able to find another daycare with room. I suppose our experience may have been a blessing in disguise because knowing what we know now, it would have been a bad idea to leave the children with such poor caretakers.

I highly recommend MiaoMiao to anyone who is seeking the best childcare in Sammamish! They have lots of fun activities each day and the staff is great with kids! Also, they provide homemade cooked meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner that are both healthy and nutritious. The best part is that the kids learn Mandarin Chinese! Very clean facility!

We moved from South Seattle to Issaquah and wanted our son to continue in a Mandarin Bilingual Child Care. We found Miao-Miao online and he has been happy and excited to be there every day! Joanna and Winnie are lovely and caring, I always feel like I’m leaving our son in great hands. They share circle time, make a lot of fun projects, enjoy delicious home-cooked meals and go on fun field trips. If you are looking for an enriching and nurturing environment for your little one, you should consider Miao-Miao!
