Rockmeadow Equestrian Center

I love Rockmeadow! My 8yr old daughter who is new to horse riding, has been taking weekly lessons with Amberley for about 3 months now. She absolutely loves it and is growing in her confidence and skill. Amberley is a patient, caring, and no nonsense instructor. She has a great rapport with her students and can get on a kids level to help them understand directions right away. My daughter loves to come early and leave late to help take care of the horses and clean up as well. We will definitely be staying with Rockmeadow and Amberley for a long time.
I forgot to add that they have an awesome venue as well. A wonderful covered arena where you can sit in comfort while you watch your child, and a nice covered round pen. No worries on rainy days, yay!

We love Rockmeadow Equestrian Center. It has been a wonderful opportunity for my daughter to learn more about her passion and ride in a beautiful setting. Amberley is wonderful with my daughter teaching her to ride and teaching her how to care for the horses. It is my daughter’s little heaven on earth!

Our two boys 6 and 9 year old started riding at Rockmeadow Equestrian center since May this year. We absolutely love it. They are riding with Amberly, she makes it fun for them and so nice, patient also very professional with them. She is not only teaching them to ride but also very hands on safety and ground work which helped them to built up confident with horses. We can’t say enough good thing about her and the center, everyone is so nice there. We definitely recommend this place

I started riding at Rockmeadow a couple months ago and I have zero complaints. Amberly is an excellent instructor and you can tell she really cares about her students learning experience. Taking lessons at Rockmeadow is great because you not only learn how to ride but also about horse care and safety. All the staff are super kind and the school horses are great to work with. I definitely recommend riding here.

I have been riding at Rockmeadow for a long time and I absolutely love riding and working with Deb and Amberly Ritchie! They are true professional horse women who genuinely care about their students’ progress, on horseback as well as on the ground. They also educate their students extensively about safety and horse care. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced rider, Rockmeadow is a great place to ride!

We love Rockmeadow Equestrian Center! My daughter and I started riding with Amberly about a year ago and we can’t say enough good things about her and the center! My daughter was 6 when she started and she has grown exponentially under Amberly’s coaching. My daughters confidence around the horses and riding shines through. Amberly is very patient and kind, yet challenges the kiddos to work hard. As a former competitive rider, Amberly encouraged me to get ‘back in the saddle’. She makes it fun and has helped me return to the riding level I was at 25 years ago.

Rockmeadow is a great facility. Deb Ritchie is a true horsewoman and great teacher and trainer. The horses are well cared for and the facility is clean and well kept. I found it great as a beginner adult rider who has been able to advance to a level where now I full lease a horse. Everyone has been very helpful as I learn the ropes of horsemanship. One has the opportunity to focus on becoming a better experienced rider or pursue the more competitive jumping arena as Thumbs-​Up is also located on the grounds. Should definitely check it out.

My previous review still stands, though I now have a few complaints.
Sometimes it can be really hard to get in touch with them. This isn’t always the case, but more than once I’ve stopped by and only one or two people have been around. This differs greatly from the barns I used to work at where people were around from 7am-​8pm six days a week.
A few horses have (sadly) been injured lately and there aren’t a lot of options to lease. I don’t particularly like what I’m paying for lessons either. I feel like I’m just there to ride horses and not there to really be around horses and experience them.
And lastly, if you want to start out a career in equestrian stuff that doesn’t involve spending years competing until you’re recognized, you’re better off elsewhere. They don’t really give you any opportunity to learn groundwork and how barns are really run. It’s just show up, get on, ride, get off, goodbye. I usually tried to hang around and watch lessons, but again I never learned much by doing that either.
Bottom line: if you just want to ride for fun, this is a great place.

I rode at Rockmeadow for many years and had a great experience! Deb does a great job running the place and has put in a lot of work keeping it up. They host great clinics and schooling shows and have dozens of training/​boarding options. Deb and Amberly taught me when I was a teenager, and thanks to them I’m still riding successfully!
I have great memories of my years riding at Rockmeadow and I love to go back and visit as often as I can. I hope to ride in the next upcoming clinic because its such a fantastic venue!
