The best part of Unilocal is finding places like Pickle Patch Deli. Thousands of people drive right by this gem in San Andreas without ever noticing the restored farmhouse and massive back patio perfect for a wonderful lunch. They are located on the entrance to San Andreas coming from Stockton or Jackson along Highway 49. Keep an eye out for it as it jumps out like a Calaveras Frog. The menu is primarily deli sandwiches and specials. Everything on the menu looks scratch made with a wonderful assortment of options and sides. I tried the Smokin’ Turkey with smoked turkey, gouda, and bacon on their homemade bread. This was a giant and delicious sandwich, especially paired with their killer pesto macaroni salad. You will not leave hungry. Even the iced tea was great. The restaurant is very cute with a small interior dining area built into the old rooms and a massive back patio. The covered patio is the real star with a beautiful garden and plenty of shaded seating. Service is quick and friendly with counter ordering making group ordering easy. I will try and come back here often before it shows up on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives and becomes too crowded. It is tough to love with limited weekday hours only, but if you can fit it into your busy schedule, you will be thoroughly impressed.

I travel up in down Cali and always looking for a good place to eat. This place hands down is one of the best sandwich, salad, and soup your gona get for the price and quality! The service is always awesome and the woman that work here are always really nice. One of my favorite spots to eat and I’m a really picky person when it comes to my food. Thanks Pickle Patch, for your Awesome food and service!!‼‼‼

Absolutely no complaints… just great food and service every time! I love that they have a different special and salad selection everyday that they are open. There isn’t much to choose from in our area, but it wouldn’t matter because this would still be my #1 pick. My whole family loves it. My mom drives up from Manteca just to have lunch here… it’s that good!

Food is good(really the only alright place to eat in San Andreas) but is seems like the owner is always yelling at the employees. I see lots of new staff too so guessing they have a high turn over rate. Having worked in the field before it’s hard for me to support a place like that, also the prices are kinda high.

Pesto macaroni salad a winner, huge fresh sandwiches and a nice patio to enjoy them. Service is friendly and everyone seemed happy to be there and glad that the fire danger is over.

The line was put the door! I thought it was insane, until I tasted my sandwich! Definitely worth the line of 15+ people jammed into a small ordering area trailing out the door. I got a turkey cranberry sandwich with a side of pesto! Super yummy and a very generous portion! Only sad part was I could only finish half of the sandwich and because of all the fresh veggies in my sandwich, when I went to eat my second half a few hours later, the bread was sadly soggy. I defiantly still ate it though because the flavors were that good :)

Amazing. If you are looking for a place to have special event for large amounts of people this is the place. Perfect for weddings or large anniversary parties. The grounds are so nice. The staff is friendly and excellent customer service. Food is amazing and you get the most value for your dollar. The Calaveras Cancer Support Group held their yearly fashion show in the back. It couldn’t of been any perfect, a true slice of heaven. We had concerns and the staff helped us so much. The buffet food was first class and wonderful deserts. Clean clean place and clean restrooms. Can’t say enough and thank you, thank you for making this event so wonderful.

This place was amazing. I had their Tri-Tip sandwich. Out of this world. And, to top that the owners treated our Strike Team heading home from the Butte Fire. They wouldn’t let us pay. Thank you so much for the great food and generosity. From: Vacaville Fire B73.

Great experience! We stopped in because we saw the small sign from the road. The entire staff was very, very nice, and the back patio was much more than we expected. The staff was extremely fast with our orders, and the food was fantastic! I highly recommend the club sandwich. B-73

My friend and I split the«Smokin’ Turkey sandwich, ordered an additional side potato salad, and had ice teas with lemon. The food was delicious! But above all, the customer service and attention were the best I’ve ever experienced; friendly, courteous, quick to meet any requests! And the dining areas and restroom were spotless! A very great lunch experience! Thank you!

YUMMY! My only complaint is that they aren’t open often enough! As residents of San Andreas who often get a hankering for a good salad or sandwich for dinner, we can never go to Pickle Patch because they are closed by dinner time… so sad. The best sandwiches in Calaveras County and super fresh salads. I love taking our out of town guests here because they are always impressed. Their outdoor seating is the best around with attentive employees always available. Try their delicious macaroni salad, but get there early of it will be gone!

If you are hungry and just happen to pass through Highway 49 in the California Gold Country, then I highly suggest checking out the«Pickle Patch Deli» in San Andreas. This small town doesn’t have a whole lot of unique eateries to choose from and many of the larger towns(Angels Camp, Jackson, Valley Springs, etc.) can be a bit of a drive for some. But I have to say, this place definitely exceeded my expectations in all ways possible. One great plus is that«Pickle Patch Deli» has everything going for it; they were voted the Best of Calaveras by the readers of the Calaveras Enterprise every year from 2008 through 2014! Not to mention, they’ve also been voted best caterer, best lunch, best deli, best BLT sandwich, and even best vegetarian! Additionally, their menu offers a unique and eclectic variety of salads, soups, desserts, and breakfast items. With all of these options, I just had to check this place out for myself. I came here on a weekday afternoon around 1:30pm in early-May; just as the afternoon rush had died down. However, I was able to notice a sizable amount of patrons still enjoying their lunch while soaking up the sun on a perfect 75° afternoon. Fortunately, it wasn’t too busy while I was able to glance at the menu and walk right up the counter. As I narrowed down my choices, I finally decided on trying their«Ma Rita’s Beef» sandwich(for $ 8.50). This sandwich consists of their very own seasoned barrel cooked tri-tip served on a soft roll complete with mayo, tomatoes, red onions and lettuce. I was also given a variety of sides and what looked most appetizing was their pesto macaroni salad. Since I was in no hurry, I ordered in «for here». I grabbed a seat at the extensive and beautiful back patio area and within minutes my sandwich(with side salad) was brought out to me. The entire presentation of the sandwich looked wonderful; bright red heirloom tomatoes with collared green lettuce and a dazzling amount of tri-tip to balance the sandwich. After the first bite, I was pleasantly surprised just how fresh everything tasted. Even the bread was soft and made very well. And finally, the pesto salad was creamy while the taste wasn’t overbearingly tart with the basil. Overall, «Pickle Patch Deli» is truly a little hidden gem in Calaveras County. And the place can be a hit or miss especially when many drivers go faster than the posted speed limit. Keep in mind though that they do have very limited hours of operation(open Monday — Friday from 9am until 2:30pm). Reason being is because this place also caters AND does events and even weddings primarily on the weekends. But if you happen to be in this neck of the woods and want a farm-to-fork meal at a very reasonable price, please give«Pickle Patch Deli» a try!

If I could give more stars I would… My dad and I actually had burgers but have had sandwiches in the past. The burgers and chicken are on the grill on the patio made to order. I can’t say enough great things just try it.

Well, it’s certainly as good as it gets in San Andreas, which is a place that is practically devoid of good eateries, for a town of its size. They have a very pleasant outdoor eating area, in nice weather, but indoors it’s pretty small and they are often not open when I pass by there, so I take away a star for that. I have a few friends that love to go there and have been a number of times over the years, and never had anything that wasn’t pretty good. This week the salmon salad was fine, though I’d like to see them add a few more innovative options so that we don’t get tired of going there.

Best place in the county for lunch! The serving sizes are always more than generous, they have daily specials that are delicious(Taco Salad Wednesday is my favorite), and the price is more than reasonable for the quality and portion size. I’ve never had a bad experience here.

I am so excited to write about this place. I don’t think I’ve ever been this excited to share a place ever. A lunch place, at that. But the Pickle Patch Deli is so much more than that. This place is a utopia. A slice of heaven thrown right into the middle of «where ??!» California. You’d never expect this place, but when you step inside, you know you’ve found an amazing spot. This lunch join has a great selection of eats, putting together some of the most tasty combinations. They have salads, soups, and sandwiches packed full of fresh veggies and flavors. I ordered the veggie sandwich with the cream cheese spread and was blown away by how tall the sandwich stood. Just by appearance of the sandwich, you can tell their food here is made with a lot of prep time and hand work. I greatly appreciated this. Along with your sandwich you get a choice of homemade salads. I chose the pesto pasta salad, and was super satisfied. Their grounds are amazing. The restaurant section is a house, with a backyard patio that goes for days. There are so many sections to sit, some private and some open. It’s covered with gorgeous trees for shade, and peacefulness that makes your lunch experience something more than just lunch. It was a lovely, brilliant afternoon. My friends and I left full and happy. We still marvel at this place, and how lucky we were to stumble upon it. I’d gladly made another road trip to revisit this place. I recommend you do too.
