Now that I’ve studied at other school I can tell you hands-​down this is one of the best, most supportive, well-​paced, well organized classes you can take for beginning tango. It takes time to tango and one has to be patient — patient teachers who impart the love of the art and culture of tango make the journey so enriching beyond just the movement of the dance. You will also have a better understanding of the whole culture of tango, its variations, and history. I highly recommend this school especially for those just starting out!

Alma del Tango is more than a dance space, it’s a caring community of kind and talented dancers and instructors. The space itself is perfect — intimate, romantic, raw and unpretentious. I begin each and every one of my prized Saturdays with lessons at Alma del Tango by Debbie Goodwin and Rose Vierling. It is my favorite way to unwind into the weekend, and if I lived closer (as I travel from Oakland to San Anselmo for classes), I would also attend Debbie and John’s mid-​week group classes. There is no other place in the Bay Area that I have been to where I would rather enjoy Argentine tango. Highly recommend! Alma del Tango is absolutely magical.
