I have known Dr. Santangelo for more than two decades and in several capacities. She is a truly brilliant woman whom I have consulted with about the psychological care of children, adolescents and their parents. She always comes through in terms of offering sage advice with honesty, compassion, and insight. She has the capacity to handle quite intense situations with grace. She knows when deep listening is called for, and she is also able to encourage and push just the right amount, when appropriate. This balance coupled with her sense of humor are a unique and valuable gift to the people who come to her seeking growth and healing. She really is a one of a kind therapist and coach. I highly recommend her!

I absolutely love Christa! My husband and I worked with Christa for about 8 months both personally and professionally. She is one of the most kind, gentle and professional coaches/​therapists that I’ve worked with. Her NY background adds a bit of no nonsense which I completely appreciate. Christa helped me understand new things about myself and my relationship that have propelled me into being a better communicator with an added sense of empathy that I didn’t have before. My husband loved working with her as a business coach and he definitely became more productive and has utilized her coaching strategies throughout his professional career. If we ever needed coaching again, we would return to Christa in a heartbeat!

Dr. Santangelo is a wonderful, witty, incredibly intelligent and insightful therapist. I first met her over ten years ago, during a particularly dark period of my life. At the time, I was extremely depressed and just couldn’t seem to get a handle on it. But somehow, immediately from the first session, Dr. Santangelo was able to give me hope and reassure me that together, with her help, I would find happiness again. I saw her for just over a year at that time, until I was really ready to begin my life again. For me, when I entered therapy, my life was at a halt, I was frozen in my own depression. But slowly, in time, I came out of it. Thanks to Dr. Santangelo.
Over the years, I have gone back to see her on occasion, at crucial turning points in my life when I have big decisions to make and need a little extra insight. Though it has sometimes been several years in between, Dr. Santangelo always welcomes me back and offers her ear and heart once again. Her style is straight forward, she lets me vent a fair amount, as in any therapy, but she also gives a lot of very helpful feedback and advice. She is compassionate and empathetic, but doesn’t hesitate to challenge me when needed, encouraging me to look at things from other perspectives or even help me realize when I might be wrong. Of course she doesn’t put it in those words, but she gently helps me see both sides of the coin or the gray in between the black and white, if you will. Really, she is truly brilliant!
I can’t say how grateful I am that I found Dr. Santangelo over ten years ago. She has been such an important figure in my life, helping me to grow and change and ultimately become a more balanced, healthy and happy person. I have the utmost respect for her skill and craft — personally, she is understanding and kind, professionally, she knows how and when to push you towards true transformation. She is a very special doctor who has enriched my life and helped me bring about countless positive changes. I cannot speak highly enough of her.

We found Christa to be extremely astute, clear headed and sensitive.
I would recommend her whole hardheartedly. Her rates might be on the high side for some (I read the other review) but I personally found her to be extremely ethical — and reasonably priced for her expertise and background.

Run for the hills from this doctor! We took our teenage daughter to her and found her to be almost unethical. She billed us for phone calls she claimed she made to other doctors and we found out she never called them. She let the meter run in her office and billed us $ 600 for one session, never suggesting we stop. Her prices are ridiculous and her training at UCSF is good but doesn’t warrant her fees.
I think this woman saw dollar signs when we walked in the door and totally took advantage of our vulnerability. Steer clear of her!!!
