For years this was an amazing place until the recent ownership change, October 2015. The new owner is very nice and has fixed up the store quite well but the quality of clothes has PLUMMETED. She is focusing on more mid-range clothes and is basically carrying the same brands as Georgi and Willow a few doors down, which is great for what it is, but we don’t need another. one You used to be able to find GREAT deals on high end clothes here, just like Sax a few doors down. now it’s Kenneth Cole and BCBG and DKNY. Very depressing. Everyone I know is now shopping at and taking their stuff to Sax and has stopped even popping in to Wardrobe Exchange. Sad. It used to be such a gem!

I starting taking clothes to Wardrobe Exchange about 4 months ago. I’ve had nothing but a positive experience with them. Lisa’s my favorite, she’s a pleasure to work with. I’m always impressed when I go into a business and the people recognize me — Lisa remembered me by name.

I was unimpressed with the quality of clothing versus the high price. The selection is geared toward a more mature crowd and I didn’t see a single piece of clothing that I would even consider buying. Also, these are second-hand clothes!!! Very high prices for clothing that is visibly worn.

I work in the neighborhood and Wardrobe Exchange is a lunchtime destination. The staff there is knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly and I always feel welcome. I have purchased some of my favorite things at this well stocked shop. I wish it were farther away, then I wouldn’t be tempted so frequently!

Love this store — just bought a couple of linen blouses that fit great! Constantly changing inventory, but always in good taste. Worth a looksee whenever you are in town.

As a customer who has consigned items at this store, I can say that you won’t be disappointed with their professionalism, honesty, and good taste. Mary Lou and Chloe are a joy to work with. Their book-keeping is meticulous, their merchandising is creative and seasonal. Whether you’re cleaning your closets or dropping a dress size, stop by the Wardrobe Exchange to do just that: exchange your wardrobe for something different and interesting!

I took in some nearly new shoes to consign, which unfortunately did not sell. I went back to collect them, and they had thrown away the box, which obviously devalues them. When I questioned the owner(?) she said that they only keep the boxes for the high end shoes. I said I should have been told this when I took them in. She made out like it was my fault, my shoes were inferior and that I hadn’t asked the right questions when I consigned them. Hmmmm… I won’t be returning to either consign, or buy from them again. Plus, they are expensive — you can buy new in the shops for less. Even the owner said«consigning isn’t what it used to be».

It’s a lovely shop with darling clothes and friendly shopkeepers. I looked it up on Unilocal to get the hours so I could go again and wanted to leave a positive word. Five stars is rather cheery but I can’t knock ‘em. I’m going back and my ATM card will be poised!

I have never done any shopping here at Wardrobe Exchange, but I do quite a bit of consigning with them. I have to disagree with the other reviews that the employees are rude. I have been treated very nicely when I have stopped in with things to get off my hands. I have sold several things and received some nice money!

I always find something great in this store… the women who work here are talkative and friendly but never shove merchandise down my throat(one of my BIGGEST pet peeves) so it’s actually fun to shop in here. In the winter time this is my one stop shop for boots and jackets… not to mention the purses~I always find one I want :-)

I rarely, if ever, find anything I like in this store. I agree with some of the other posters that the selection tends to be dated and I personally find the prices on the high side. If I go consignment shopping I look for specific brands which I collect(vintage YSL and Chanel, newer Jil Sander and Anne Demuelemeester, nice, newer cashmere and wool pants/skirts) and I’ve never found anything here I wanted to buy. The service isn’t great, but I like to be left alone anyway to dig through the racks at my leisure. Don’t even bother trying to park in downtown San Anselmo during the weekend.

They had a great selection and they took a few things off my hands while I looked around. I’m looking forward to going back and using my credit :)

I eyed a pair of gorgeous shoes in the window I’d seen elsewhere for $ 200. They were brand new, never worn outside and were $ 60. I wish they’d been in my size… oh well it was probably for the best. My closet and I already have a lot of explaining to do.

Consignment store with an attitude of snobbiness that is totally unwarranted by the items selected. Whoever does the buying and arranging here makes this place seem dated, cluttered and does not make one feel like stopping here long. The staff has an attitude that makes me want to say«outta here» update I recently went in to check out on a pair of boots and there was no one in the shop but me and the owner and I was totally ignored while she chatted on the phone. This place is not going to even survive if they keep on treating their customers like this. I do not think I will bother to go in again.
