I have been here for lunch when they were only serving tacos. Tried it on Thursday again for lunch. Got there at 11:45, this is bbq right, supposed to be precooked right? They have more on the menu than tacos now. I was only customer there, in or out. I ordered a brisket and sausage sandwich. 10.00 over priced but ok. As I waited finally some guys came in at about 12:10. Ok still no sandwich. Heavy guy came in I think one of the owners and the«pitmaster» I believe. Guy I guess was the«cook» in the back, still no sandwich. Girl taking orders from the 7 guys and after the last guy paid she brought me my sandwich, 30 minutes later. Ok this is a brisket and sausage sandwich. Ok about the size of a whataburger Jr bun. I take a bite of sandwich and meat covered in sauce. First bite, I pull out of my mouth a lump of fat. I open sandwich and look to see ok, all chunks of fat. Not meat with fat, just fat. Not even sliced just butchered chunks of fat. Couldn’t that guy or the«pitmaster» tell meat from fat? I finally found a piece of brisket chunk. But where was the sausage? I guess the«cook» couldn’t fit the sausage in the small bun with the fat. I took all with the fat on the plate to the girl at bar. Told and showed her. She took back to kitchen and told them both, «pitmaster» and«cook», not one said anything. at this time it was already 12:20 and I needed to get back to work so I asked for my money back. Never ever again will I return. I have begun spreading the word by «word of mouth». Owner should have been embarrassed and apologized at that opportunity but he didn’t. He stayed back in the kitchen. A «pitmaster» what a joke.

Overall 5 stars. The BBQ gets a solid 4 stars, the beer selection 3.5, but the live music and the patio are full on 10 stars. Glad I have this place in the neighborhood.

Very cool place with a great outdoor space to drink. Good BBQ, but I wouldn’t go back just for the BBQ because it wasn’t tender enough to beat out nearby places. It was however smokey and I like the sauce. It is a very fun place to hang out with friends. My friends who went with me were in agreement on my assessment. There is an inside area when it is too hot too. Also a covered area and lots of umbrellas. I have been there twice, both times I had the brisket. It isn’t as expensive as some BBQ places which I appreciate. Also you can get a brisket taco which more places should offer. There are no ribs which I find strange for a BBQ place. Next time I will try the chicken. All in all very fun place.

Id love to be able to review their food but instead can only comment on their customer service. Their site says they close at 11pm, they instead close at 10 and stop serving food at 9. Awesome that you can’t get bbq in downtown San Antonio after 9pm.

A Hill Country vibe in the heart of the city. Live country/classic rock on the weekends. A good looking menu with lunch served on weekdays. Not much of a beer selection so hipsters may cringe but a healthy dose of shiner options and a Ballast Point IPA are available. While the interrior leaves much to be desired, the real action happens in the large outdoor space where picnic tables, a lively sound stage, and fire pits create a geat atmosphere. Saturday night offered up a very welcoming bunch of good ‘olé boy types with couples in their 20’s playing horseshoe and couples in their 50’s dancing to the tunes. I spotted a few friendly bikers as well. Young and old chill together and enjoy the relaxed backyard BBQ feel. Good alternative night out to the hipster-artsy-esque crowds that typically dominates the area.

Several good Texas«craft» beers on draft. Casual, picnic — table ice house. Popular with cyclists. Much better beers than the brewing company under the bridge 4 blocks to the east.

The menu here is limited. I wanted a BBQ plate but was told by the lady at the counter that they don’t serve plates. I looked at the menu again and asked if they had homemade tortillas for their tacos. She told me no. So I decided to order a BBQ brisket sandwich with fries and a sweet tea. The lady told me they don’t serve sweet tea but they have house made lemonade so I got that. The lemonade was too sour for me and wasn’t sweet enough. The BBQ brisket sandwich was served on a toasted hamburger bun and was very good. I didn’t care for the coleslaw that I requested on the side and the fries were too salty and bland. Alamo Ice House gets packed on weekends and the live music is a good thing for an area located between downtown, the east side and the Pearl Brewery. Their menu however needs a lot of improvement.

I came on Saturday night to see the Texas KGB Band and they were GREAT!!! This was my first time at Alamo Ice House and the staff was beyond courteous. I was surprised at how empty the place was, but it was still very relaxed. I got a Michelob ulta… the can is $ 4 the aluminum is $ 4.5… GOFORTHEALUMINUM! We did not have a chance to try the food, but while hanging out with the band, they said the food was good! The only downside I would say is that there were kids running around EVERYWHERE… we got there at 8:20PM so I was curious if there was a 9PM rule… apparently not… or they were not paying attention. There are fire pits and games, which is a nice touch. I will definitely try it again!

This place is a great hideaway a block off Broadway. The menu is limited but I think it will expand once they get more business. Great place to watch football or basketball. They could have more TV’s or a projector. Beer menu could be a little better also. Service is really great even if you sit outside. If it gets cold they turn the fire pits on outside. Only downside is if you don’t like the smell of BBQ then you might not want to sit outside cause you will smell like a BBQ pit. If you are into washers and country music this place is for you. They have live music and is a great place to relax with some friends and grab a beer.

As a bar this place is an excellent find, on the edge of downtown. Parking is ample, free and typically this place doesn’t have a cover to get in. The bands are usually pretty good, and the beer is cheap. Today I stopped in for a burger for lunch. It was messy and pretty delicious. Mine didn’t have one element because they ran out of the product, and it didn’t deter from the taste. I got an Alamo burger and for less than 10 dollars, a whole meal. There was only one other person who was there for lunch, so it was pretty quiet. The staff is always super friendly and I enjoyed talking with them today.

Live music, BBQ, and cold beer! What more could you ask for? This place is pretty awesome. They’ve got a full BBQ setup, with their own BBQ sauce. I didn’t get a chance to taste the BBQ, so I’ll have to update this review later. They have a place for live music, with a stage and everything. The guy I heard playing was rather talented! The seating is outdoor picnic tables. The service was friendly, and the restrooms were clean. I’ll certainly be back.

Great food! For just opening on sept 12 they are an excellent restaurant! They have the best customer service I’ve seen in a long time! And the food taste great! We ordered and food came out within five minutes. Wasn’t the hottest food but I’m not gna judge. They just opened and haven’t got the feel of how much food to make! But once they get that down it’s gna be fantastic! The atmosphere is good! Very open and sitting outside is comfortable and roomy with live band and lots of people, I even went on a Thursday so that was impressive! They have a big area to play washers too. Good job guys! Keep it up!

This place is pretty cool, and has a TON of potential. Right now, though, it needs some work. Quick description: lots of indoor seating, great ambiance, perfect TX ice house vibe, flat screen TVs, awesome outdoor area, bike friendly, pet friendly, etc. They also have a large BBQ pit area that smells great. I have been to this place 3 times. They are trying to do the live music thing downtown, which is needed AND great. However, they have a stage set up in the back corner of the LARGE patio area, and it is perfect for big concerts(like when co-owner Charlie Robison or others play), but it’s terrible for regular week night music. The performers are so far away it loses all intimacy, and you might as well be listening to the radio. Inside there is no music. This is the second time I have found this place like this. You walk inside and the TVs have games on, but no sound. No music. Nothing. You can hear the hum of the freezers, and it just feels awkward. Finally, the only way to order food is at this one place in the bar, which is inconvenient and problematic and strange. When this place figures out the spacing, turns the sound on, and brings the cool live music closer to the people, things will instantly improve. The staff is super friendly, and the spot is perfect. Crossing my fingers they get it together.

Not only was the flavor of the BBQ pretty lousy, the pulled pork was fattier than any I’ve had… anywhere. The fries were generic at best, and the tea tasted mostly like water. Service was decent but overall there are other far better places close by. Save your money. You’ll get a lot more for your 11 bucks elsewhere.

The venue is awesome. Waitstaff is great. Excellent place to hang with the family. Very kid friendly and pet friendly. The parking really sucks. But all downtown parking is usually off street. The food is good but BBQ is still getting better each time we go back. They are making improvements along the way since it is a new establishment.

Very disappointed. The portions are way too small for the price. $ 20 on two sandwiches that were lacking in everything. Taste was okay, but nothing stood out. Service was friendly but when they asked how things were and I said«not that great» the sever just laughed and walked away, never to be seen again. Won’t be returning any time soon.

Works great as a venue bar, but the bar-b-que needs some work. Hopefully, they’ll get better after the grand opening.
