took a 3 strng Thai Phin electric guitar for repair. They would not even touch it. Main problem was a loose ¼ inch jack, didn’t have one, didn’t help me find one, maybe another music strore has one. just told me to search. online. Guitar repair just sat it on the counter and left. Employee referred me to guitar tex. Told me to search online for parts, but couldn’t even assist in finding the parts or advise. No customer service. I have 8 guitars. but I won’t ever go there to set up. Thanks for nothing. absolutely nothing. Just wasted my time.

I am a new musician, so I was really nervous when picking a guitar. I did a lot of research online and had an idea of what I wanted, but I figured talking to someone in a store would be better. The staff was so friendly and helpful! I was able to try two or three models of guitars and ended up picking a new fender acoustic! Great experience and I will for sure be going back!

This is a neat place. The employees are helpful and knowledgeable. Ted kept my daughter and her friends entertained for almost an hour. He was showing them a bunch of cool stuff. Thank you for your hospitality.

Unhelpful, awful guitar and electric bass selection, this place has been a real disappointment for the 15 years I’ve been going here. Will never go back, plenty of other music stores in the city more worthy.

I hate to write this but i was ripped off and want to caution anyone who is interested in buying a piano or keyboard here. Basically, Ted, one of the workers there, told me that I could purchase a Yamaha P-105B for $ 800. I said that is not within my budget and that I did not plan on staying in San Antonio and so he assured me that I would be able to sell the keyboard back to them in 6 months for $ 400 – 500. We shook on it and I purchased it. When it hit around 5 – 6 months, I told him that I was ready to return the keyboard, and he told me the inventory manager would buy it for $ 150. I asked him about the original deal we had, and he said we can sell it for $ 500, but you would only be getting a percentage of it. So I do not recommend buying keyboards or piano. On a brighter side, I have had a good experience with the people working with the guitars

I took my $ 2000 synth to this POS store for repairs and their repair guy utterly ruined my keyboard. What did they do wrong? Their tech decided to hardwire the audio thru the effects processor and degrade the signal at the same time! Also for some reason metal sheething was sticking out the back of the synth’s actual casing! Basically he ruined the whole signal path and got the audio routed thru anything to see if I would take it. This is after I drove back and forth twice to have them correct their crap work. Which got worse each time said repair man had his hands on my gear. Ended up taking it to guitar center where their repair tech told me my instrument was so damaged by alamo’s repair job it was basically a door stop! I was a teen at the time, so my parents asked the owners of Alamo music center to correct the situation by either providing a replacement or paying for all the repairs needed to be done at another business. To their credit they did neither and instead said they would be all too happy to get legal on us and take it to court! My parents were going thru a divorce at the time and could not deal with this at all. Alamo Music Center on main got away with destroying my instrument then robbing me of the initial repair costs and the $ 2000 value of the synthesizer.

Disclaimer: I didn’t utilize their services; however, I was faced with their lack of customer service skills. I recently went to an event and had to find a parking space. I found the building I needed to be at but I simply did not know where their designated parking area was at. I had to be at a particular spot for a city event and was confused by the lot for Alamo Music Center. I thought I could park in their area as long as I paid but apparently that was not the case. By the time I put my 5 bucks in the slots, one of the employees came out and told me I couldn’t park there. I asked him ‘even if I already paid? Because I thought I could if I paid.” He was polite but unsure and then proceeded to tell me that it was because they were having an event at their store. He then told me that he could get my money back. After he said that, I followed him(he was posting signs around the lot) and he turned around and said, «Oh. I didn’t mean now. Because I can’t get in to the lock box. I can get it to you later though.» I asked him what time they closed and he said six. He also told me where the parking lot I was initially looking for was at and I headed for it. Now it’s the end of the event and I’m walking back — SOTIRED — and approached the two ladies at the front desk. I received NO acknowledgement. Nothing. I guess when one of them finally decided to say something I truly felt as though I was bothering their time on the computer. I told them what happened that morning and I got the ‘Sorry. I don’t know anything about it.’ response. Then the one girl asked the other girl if she knew anything and I had to essentially re-tell my story again(even though I had already said it in front of them it was obvious the other could really care less). The second girl said«I don’t know.» Did they think I was some bum off the street trying to game them for 5 bucks? I told them he even put up signs in the parking lot this morning and he came from this store. They just looked puzzled and kept saying they didn’t know(as if that was gonna get me to finally leave and be out of their faces). I wasn’t planning on going anywhere until I got my resolve. It was ridiculous. Finally, they asked one guy«who put up the signs?» and the guy on the phone pointed to another guy. Then they told me to talk to him. I spoke with him and he asked the girls about giving me a refund and they told him, «We don’t have a key to the box.» Sooo… he gave me a $ 5 credit for their store or for the parking lot again. I was so exhausted from my day but I figured whatever. He was nice but the girls at the desk were so unbelievably unhelpful. I even managed to say thank you on my way out the door and no one said anything. Wow. It made me glad that my son isn’t in orchestra anymore — anything to not have to be treated like that again. On a sidenote, I’m all for local businesses and I hate giving horrible reviews. But seriously, if that’s how they treat non-customers, how do they treat their regular customers?

We randomly found this place by purchasing a silent auction item at my son’s school for one month free piano rental and four free lessons. We received a brand new black stand up piano that is beautiful and fits perfectly in our home. After the month rental is complete, we have the option of buying, renting or having them pick it up. The service received both in the store and from the delivery guy was nice, at first I was a little unsure about their competence, because they showed up a day early and the guy in the store seemed unorganized, but in the end, they were nice and got the job done. The piano lessons are located in the basement of the store and my son’s teacher is Mr. Edwards.(as he referred to himself each time I spoke with him on the phone, which cracks me up — I am not sure I know his first name!) When we showed up for the lesson, I was immediately fond of Mr. Edwards! Ha! He is an older gentlemen that you can tell has been around for years and is just wonderful — wonderful — wonderful — with the kids! I am so excited for my son and he is stoked about the lessons. He brought his recorder wiith him and they played duo. It was great. He is a great teacher and makes it fun learning music! A+ in my book. My younger son is ready to start his lessons too! The store itself seems to have a variety of all sorts of musical instruments that we look forward to exploring and trying out. The location is downtown, which isn’t so bad if you take Broadway all the way to 3rd street and hang a right. It’s down a few blocks on the left. There are three free parking spaces in the front or you have to pay a meter. I like the joint, even though it’s old and kind of dusty on the interior — you can tell it’s been around for years and years as well!
