Dandyland Custom Tattoo & Professional Body Piercing

This was my first time using a service like this bc I wanted to replace my nose ring. The outside of the bldg didn’t do the inside justice. Wow!!!
The receptionist was very professional, the bldg was immaculate and the atmosphere was even children friendly except for the radio program that had cussing in it (minimal distraction).
It was recommended by a coworker to go there and I’m in love. It’s on the other side of town from me but I’ll go there before I go anywhere. He didn’t try to re do my piercing, he just reopened it so quickly that I was in shock. 15 min tops.

Just got my septum peirced by Aaron. I’ve wanted this gem since I was 13 but was always too chicken to do it. Today was the day! APP certified piercer, Aaron, was the nicest, professional, clean, piercing artist I’ve EVER met. He got it exactly in the sweet spot which resulted in a 100% PAIN FREE piercing. I will definitely be back! I went in expecting the worse (for pain) and came out practically laughing. Love, love, love Aaron, his technique, and the shop owner, who I’m sad I don’t remember his name :(Thanks guys! BEST piercing experience EVER!
Septum Piercing

Aaron pierced my nose today, it looks perfect. It was quick and painless. He washed his hands in front of me changed his gloves twice and talked me through the whole experience. Their tattoo work looked incredible, my husband and I are considering coming here for a tattoo for our daughter, extremely welcoming.

Excellent service. Very polite and clean and careful — definitely put me at ease during my piercings. I’m always very happy with the end result, and will definitely be going back in the future.

I’ve been going to dandyland for 18 yrs, the shop is alway clean and friendly. Miles has done a lot of tattoo work for me, I’ve never been disappointed. He’s a detailed artist with a great eye for color, he’s on time and professional as well :) I also have about 15 piercings I’ve had done there, mostly by miro but by others also, again never disappointed. I’ve never had any kind of complications or infections with any work I’ve had done at dandyland, consistently a great shop with really amazing artists.

You know how people start off a review saying they never leave a review? Yup, I am that person. I must say that Miro is beyond a great piercer, and deserves more than your standard 5 star system. Cleanliness? Absolutely, changed his gloves numerous times even after the piercing was complete and he was sanitizing the area. Explained everything in detail regarding the piercing, which is great because I asked a lot of questions. The actual piercing? I had a VCH done, the mere fact that you have to expose yourself is disconcerting to say the least, let alone have a needle placed; but he totally makes you feel comfortable. I won’t lie and say it was painless but the piercing was over very quickly. I highly recommend the establishment and Miro!

This is an unusual review, because I did not get a piercing or a tattoo. I went into Dandyland this past weekend to get my rook piercing removed. I had gotten it done in Europe a few years ago, and it was screwed on too tightly for me to take out myself. I’ve tried other places, but was unable to get it out because of the angle. Aaron helped me out right away, and took the piercing out quickly. He was very professional and helped me pick out a piece of jewelry that was much better quality than the one I had, and explained how to put it in.

Very clean and professional place! Miro does a good job with piercings!!! Ask for Miro to do your piercing he is very experienced for 15 hrs. Answers all your questions. The staff is friendly and kept tidy.

Holy cow. This place is the best place ever. I’m in my mid 20s and I’m terrified of needles. I got my ears pierced when I was 6, but due to the terrible job, I had to get them closed with scar tissue. I walked in and was already panicking. Miro made me feel so comfortable and it didn’t hurt a bit. I’m so happy and I can’t describe how wonderful the experience was.

I went here with my mom and sister so we could get piercings. I haven’t experienced getting a piercing at a tattoo place. Everyone was very friendly and knowledgeable. The place was very clean and sterile. I went to get my ears pierced, but found out that all they needed to do was have my holes tapered. My one set wasn’t completely closed. The process was painless and I didn’t need cleaning solution. I was told to keep my earrings in for four months and let water run over the piercing. This is definitely a place I’d revisit when I’m back in the area.

Both of my daughters got additional piercings here this week. The quality, accuracy, and cleanliness of this pace was excellent. Thanks and Merry Christmas!

Always always always go to an APP certified piercer! I dont live near one so when i am in the area of a location with one, I always stop by! Aaron was a wonderful host and put up with my silly nervousness with ease, not to mention doing a great job on my forward helix piercing! Thanks!

First tattoo… I simply can’t recommend Matt enough. Great experience, and Matt had a great work ethic. If you’re looking to get a tattoo, Matt’s the artist to ask for.

I just moved to SATX from Boston and I was having a tough time finding an artist down here that I trusted, let alone a shop. I ended up picking Dandyland and I’m so glad that I did. The shop is super clean, the front desk is professional and accommodating and they’re always happy to have your business. I’ve been tattooed twice now by Matt Cesario and he is easily one of the best artists in the SATX, even the Texas area. His lines are super clean, he’s professional, his pricing is reasonable and he is always excited to work with me. I’ve given him free reign on both of my tattoos and he has done an incredible job.

Got my high nostrils pierced by Miro and have purchased all of my jewelry here. Great jewelry selection on hand and Miro is very skilled. My only criticism is that all the friends I’ve sent to get pierced here have had the same complaint: they felt like they were talked down to by the piercer and were made to feel stupid because they had different placement or jewelry preferences (weren’t given any reasons why their preferred placement/​jewelry wasn’t doable, just outright denied and made to feel like they had no say in it). I, personally, didn’t have that experience though and continue to refer people to them– only now I give them slight forewarning about what others have experienced.
Definitely would say that this is one the best shops in town for piercing and you will, without a doubt, get your piercing done right and in an incredibly sanitary environment. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for! Best jewelry, best quality of work, and you shouldn’t accept anything less than that for your body modifications.

Got the outline of my calavera tattoo (in honor of my Dad) done by Daniel a couple of days ago and I’m already getting compliments! I go back in May to get the color done and I’m so excited to get it finished.
This is my first tattoo and did some research about who/​where to go to and Daniel is one of the best in San Antonio. Get in with him when you can, he’s booked at least a month out!
Everyone in the shop is polite and welcoming.

Friends don’t let friends get pierced at Claire’s. Back away from the 16 year old with a gun and let the professionals handle it, please.
Jareb was fantastic with my three ear lobe piercings. Incredibly professional and friendly. If there were PhDs for piercing, he’d be Dr./Prof. Foosh. Clearly an expert. He was also very calming and walked me through each step. He totally won over my mom, too, who may or may not have been a little nervous about walking into a tattoo shop. Jareb was so polite and charming.
He didn’t try to upsell us on jewelery — which was much appreciated. He was straight up with us in explaining various differences, what matters, what doesn’t — really treasure his honesty. You can trust these guys and they make you want to come back and send all your friends here.
Best jewelery selection out of three 4+ star-​rated shops on Unilocal.A bunch of different colors and sizes. By the way, have you heard of ‘chocolate diamonds’? God invented them for Valentine’s Day, or the other way around. They sell those here, and they’re quite pretty. Seriously, all the birthstones, and a bunch of other shades of colors that were really pretty. I was so impressed. The other two shops I visited before this place had two options and one option for jewelery, and they were all lame. This place — so much variety it was so hard to choose. I went with a color called ‘champagne’. Neat!
All surgical quality metal.
They take sanitization VERY seriously here. You see them wiping the stuff down, replacing their gloves several times throughout, having the jewelery sanitized while you’re there, opening fresh packs of needles, spreading new surgical napkin/​tableclothy things, etc.
I had a superb experience. Even though it was pricey — double the price of one shop we visited — it was worth it.

I have never had a piercing done before (except for both my ear lobes when I was an infant), and I was looking for a place that would do 3 cartilage piercings for me. I arrived at Dandyland guided by other Unilocal reviews, and I was not disappointed at all.
I went with my cousin around 8 pm (they close at 9 pm, but the piercer leaves at 8:30 pm, just so you can get an idea of how late we were going) and we were greeted by warm friendly faces and smiles as soon as we walked in. I told them I was there for a cartilage piercing (I did not have any appointment), and they said «ok! we’ll get you started.» I asked to see the jewelry and asked about pricing first, and they were super cool with it and the piercer, Tony, came out to guide me. I told him I wanted some cartilage piercings, and he was completely honest: he said he wouldn’t do it due to the shape of
my ear and that I’d only be able to wear hoops instead of studs, but if I wanted hoops he would do the piercing. I seemed to look confused and he offered me another idea: piercing my cartilage up towards the top and center. I was hesitant but I decided to try it.
All the jewelry is titanium and meant to be in the body. The piercing room he took me to was clean and well lit; all the needles came in their own package and he wore gloves and kept a clean operation going the whole time. He was a perfectionist when it came to
angles and placement, which I was a fan of. We talked the whole time, which really helped. I felt ZERO pain (I mean, my ear hurt a tad when the needle went in, but it was a quick pain that went away rapidly). I loved the piercing and paid, then decided to do two more below the first one, and Tony was great about it even though it was so late. He gave me suggestions about jewelry placement later in the future and gave me simple, straight forward, common sense advice about cleaning the jewelry. In the end, I got 10 $ off the 2^nd and 3^rd piercings because I got them successively.
Tony also gave me info on places he recommends if I need to see a piercer/​want more in other cities. He said he would be moving to Skin Deep in Waikiki (Oahu), Hawaii to work there in a week and a half. If you’re in Hawaii, definitely hit him up. He truly cares about his work and how it’ll look on you.
TL;DR Dandyland is a great place with great piercers and employees, everything is clean, and you feel comfortable and can trust the people shoving needles into your skin. I definitely plan on returning if I ever want to get more piercings done.

Angel strikes again!
Went back to Angel for a new piece. I gave him the barest of guidance: a day of the dead skull on the inside of my left bicep. I let him run with it to see what he’d come up with. Turns out, that was prolly the best decision as Angel drew something up that I wouldn’t have otherwise gotten. I think the skull fits perfectly in the spot I chose because he did a profile of the skull instead of straight on. The lines look clean, shading is on point, and the detail is awesome too.
There were some hiccups during the process: some waiting around, fixing of the tattoo machines, busted pipes, and a whole bunch of pain, but I think the end result was worth all the distraction.
If you’re looking for a black and gray tattoo, give Angel @ Dandyland a shot. You can thank me later — with a beer.

I put my nose ring back in after two years of being out. I went in thinking that I would need to have it repierced. Tony told me that since I’d had it for 10 years before I took it out, it might just need to be reopened a little and not repierced. We picked out jewelry and bonded over our love of gold hoops.
He was right, and didn’t charge me for the full price since he hadn’t had to actually repierce it. He had a not-​exactly-​a-​needle that opened it up and allowed him to put my cute little green stud in. It looks great, I was in and out in minimal time with almost no pain or discomfort, and he was super professional and nice the entire time. He also said since I didn’t need to actually pierce again, it would heal pretty quickly and I could upgrade to my hoop in less time than if it was a fresh piercing. I’d highly recommend Tony for all your piercing needs!
This is a little out of the way for me, but I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews from everyone I know who goes here, and of course Unilocal has lots of good things to say about Dandyland. I’ll be back here when I come to upgrade my stud to a hoop. In gold, of course.
