Discount Tire Store – San Antonio, TX

I have been going to this Discount Tire location for over 10 years with all my vehicles. They have knowledgable staff that are willing to help you as soon as they can and to take care of your tire needs. If you visit their store during peak hours, this will cause prolonged waiting times due to the increased volume. This location is one of a few that have numerous bays to work out of to keep their flow going. As expected, I have had experience some bad service, but this is counteracted by my overall wonderful experiences at this location. When I need to buy new tires or rims for my cars, their staff is knowledgeable and helpful with determining the right choice for me based on multiple factors that they ask. The most helpful part, in my opinion, is the summary that a worker presents to the customer when their car is ready explaining what was done. Overall, I love Discount Tire for all my tire needs, but this specific location takes the gold medal from me as one of the best Discount Tire locations in San Antonio.

Service is slow. I went to have my tire pressure checked and the associate was distracted several times by other customers who arrived AFTER me. He kept walking off to assist with their tires and whatever else. There was no true order! What should have only taken a few moments to place air in my tires, wasted about an hour of my day. Not a great thing when dealing with three tired and hungry kids, (especially when one of my children is autistic). We’ve lived all around the country, (military), and have always preferred Discount Tire but after this I won’t be returning. I’m extremely disappointed!!!

I can’t give the Discount Team near Marbach five stars but here’s the scoop.
Initial experience didn’t go very well with one of the «tire dudes» torquing one of my lugs so bad that it destroyed the lug and it had to be replaced.
(Recommendation: I know the folks are in a hurry BUT they need to at least spin the nut a few times on the lug before applying the 5 million PSI torque wrench)
That said, the manager Jerry, and his team, did flips and somersaults to take care of the issue! In the absence of Jerry, Carl responded immediately to my calls and ensured that I was taken care of. When he returned Jerry went above and beyond to make sure the repair was made in a timely manner. On the other hand, and due another review, ANCIRA Chevy dropped the ball!

I have been using Discount for as long as I can remember; I have been a very loyal customer and have always been a fan… until today. My visit today was completely spontaneous. I awoke to two flat tires so my son and I headed over ASAP. We arrived at 9 and were told we’d been done WITHIN the hour so I opted to stay at the store instead of getting picked up. At 10:15 I decided to inquire as to why my car was still sitting in the lot despite customers who came after me leaving with serviced vehicles. I was told people can make appointments and the 10:00 appointments were next in line. That is some bs! I understand honoring appts but a walk-​in should not get perpetually bumped because people schedule an appt online. If I knew I could make make an appt, then I would have done that. It’s always been first come, first served. They should have been forthright about the appointments so I could have made alternate arrangements instead of sitting around with a 3yr old who is quickly losing patience with this almost two hour wait!!! Beyond disappointed!!!
UPDATE — the service rep who assisted me when my car was ready was much more customer service oriented. He apologized and comped me on the fee to replace my warranty. That’s the type of service I’m used to!!!

Incredible service at this location! The employees are very nice and helpful. Every time I’ve been here, it’s been very busy but they do a pretty good job keeping up with the amount of customers that walk through the door.
My most recent experience is one I will always be thankful for because it really showed me how much attention the technicians give to the vehicles they tend to.
I had a couple of tires that needed to be replaced on my fifth wheel (it has 3 axles), one tire had blown out and the other had caught a big screw — both were on the right side of the fifth wheel.
It had been a very busy week for me and I was so focused on the right side that I hadn’t looked at the left side. The technician pointed out that a couple of the tires on the left were not safe and when I went over to check them out, all I could think of was that I’m SO lucky I didn’t have more tire issues on the night I had the blowout. The two tires he identified, had started to separate from the inside out! The tires were barely an inch from touching each other (the axles were straight). As I pulled the fifth wheel through the parking lot around to the bay, the tires touched and rubbed each other and left skid marks thru every left hand turn! Can you imagine that happening on the road at higher speeds?!
I’m incredibly thankful that the technicians at this Discount Tire location were on the ball and had my safety as their top priority!

While there is nothing wrong with the customer service or products from this location, they are ridiculously busy and just take too long to have any work done. I went with the intention to get a flat replaced. The waiting time was 2 hours!
I simply drove 8 mins to the Bandera location by Leon Valley, and they replaced it and got me out of there in 30 mins.
I don’t understand why this location is uncomfortably busy but save yourself some time and visit another location to get things done quickly.

I noticed the previous day my tire was leaking and used a can of fix-​a-​flat before finding a screw puncture. After stopping by another place and being told I couldn’t be fit in until the next day, I stopped by Discount Tire because it was on my way. As I pull up, I notice a motto written on the wall of their repair bay «To Be the Best.» Mechanics were all working diligently on vehicles and another associate was outside helping a customer. Walking in the lobby, I was second in line to be helped. I could see all of the employees were moving with a purpose to get work done. That’s a change from some other repair shops I’ve been to where guys just saunter around and will help you when they get a chance.
I had to wait about 5 to 8 minutes before I could be seen, but several times employees (including the manager) stopped to apologize for the wait, thank me for stopping in and assure me they’d get right with me. When it was my turn, I was greeted with a handshake and asked for my problem. We immediately went to look at the puncture, and the associate checked tread depth and told me they could take care of it in 45 minutes. I went to eat, came back on time and my vehicle was waiting for me.
The manager on duty checked me out and explained the repairs. When I went for my credit card, he waved me off, saying the service was FREE! He just asked me to refer friends and family to them for their tire needs. You rarely find this kind of commitment to customer satisfaction, so it’s important to call it out when you find it.
Thanks team for the great experience, and I intend to come back in the future with any tire issues I want serviced.

Discount Tire is always awesome. I set an online appointment late last night for noon today. Zachary greeted me at my car and checked thru all my tires for me. He was extremely friendly and even helped me find a better set at a lower price than what I found online. I can’t speak enough for his customer service. I was told 45 minutes, my car was in the bay in no time at all, done in 30. Gotta say Discount Tire always does me right and this location has held up to that expectation. Did I mention they gave me a discount voucher for an alignment at the place next door? Very good service. Very good product and variety of. Awesome warranty. Thank Zachary and thank you Discount tire.

Best service ever! All I have to say is who ever trained them in customer service did an amazing job. I love how they acknowledge you right away and lest you know how their status is. Further, I like how when they do take you to look at your vehicle they are not hounds just wanting money. They truly will let you know if items need to be replaced. They also will apologies even if they didn’t mess up. One thing that I really liked and it was just a small thing. When every worker went to go get a water out of the fridge they would ask all the customers sitting down if they wanted one first. I for sure will make this my permanent Discount Tire’s location.

I’m pretty demanding when it comes to customer service. Having worked as a sales professional and customer service manager/​trainer, I am exceedingly critical of most establishments. With that being said, this Discount Tire location WOW’d me!
I don’t really expect a whole lot from a car repair shop, but everyone from Pete (the Assistant Manager) and his front desk team to the actual guys working on the car were amazingly customer focused in their activities. Sitting in the waiting room, I heard positivity and professionalism mixed with genuine welcomes and thank yous. Every person was acknowledged. I actually saw Pete come out from behind the desk at one point and apologize to the next person in line because he had to wait a little longer.
The guys in the bays were just as professional and customer service oriented. Usually, you get a mechanic who starts to speak jargon or doesn’t really know how to relate at the customer level. These guys were perfect. I felt welcomed and comfortable speaking to them.
I absolutely recommend this business to anyone and everyone! World class customer service, speedy work, and extreme professionalism. I’m using this Discount Tire location as an example in all my training classes of customer service done RIGHT.
