Wonderful lady. Great tacos. To the other reviewers and people just coming across this review… She is closing up shop. Tonight(Saturday) and tomorrow may be the last two nights she is open. Definitely stop by and get your pastor fix and a fun personable exchange for the last time. Thank you TacoNazo and I wish you all the best.

Carne Asada Street /mini tacos are one of my favorite go to foods. In San Antonio, there are no shortage of vendors for these delightful hand-held flavor bundles. But, they are not all created equal. I have, through the use of Unilocal, and basic food finding instincts, have visited no less than 10 street taco eateries … whether on wheels, in a brick and mortar restaurants, or in this case, oddly situated space on the corner of a Meat Market store. The first time I saw it, I hesitated to drive up to the non-drive through window because it just didn’t feel right. Later, I read the reviews more closely and convinced myself to give it another try. Since then, it is a regular stop for me … I even asked them why they are only opened from Thursday through Sunday … I started craving those little tacos by Tuesday. The prices are quite good, the portions are perfect sizes, they never skimp on the quality, the lady at the window is super sweet and very personable, the sauce is PERFECT for those tacos, and did I mention they are Yummy!!! The only thing they are missing is crumbled queso fresco and avocado slices … but those add-ons are pricey and go bad quickly … so I forgive them on those points … and stock that at home. Other nearby competitors serve a small cup of charro beans(with sliced hot dogs for the bacon-like flavor) or cucumber or pickled radishes or other non-essentials. But none of them can compete with the spices which marinated the carefully charred flank steak making up the yummy innards of the mini carne asada tacos. There are a couple of picnic benches next to the walk-up window where you can dine patio style, and although that part of Culebra isn’t the most picturesque part of San Antonio, one bite into your mini taco and you will be thinking heavenly thoughts, anyway. Definitely worth checking out.

I love this place! Best tacos I’ve had since living in San Antonio. Plus the lady at the window is always nice.

I love this unique little place — how cool to have a late night taco window attached to the meat market! After two visits I’ve tried the asada, pastor, and birria in both taco and quesadilla form(I’ll have to go back for the lomo tortas). They serve their tacos with the perfect amount of onion, cilantro, and lime and the quesadillas come with extras like tomato, lettuce, and avocado. The quesadillas are huge and not overly heavy on the cheese, which I really appreciate… Very meaty and savory with the perfect amount of crunchiness from the crust on the tortillas. My only complaint is that because of how small they cut the meat I do think it has a tendency to dry out really quickly, but the seasoning is spot on and it’s nothing a hit of their salsa(try the verde if you’re brave, possibly my favorite salsa ever!) or guacamole can’t fix. Since everything is made to order there can be a bit of a wait, but it’s worth it in order to stuff your face with as many mini tacos as you can handle, since they come so darn cheap. Friendliest service(Spanish not required, though helpful for my fellow gringos) and a great option for a late dinner if you’re craving super fresh and simple Mexican favorites. And a sidenote: they do have some picnic tables but sometimes they’re packed full with families so you may want to take yours to go.

Food truck style of food without having to hunt for it. This place makes amazing carne asada tacos. Perfectly seasoned meat on mini corn tortillas topped with cilantro and onions, if you wish, with limes on the side. They also have tortas, quesadillas, and regular size tacos. 4 mini tacos and a drink for $ 5.50 can’t be beat. The place is just a walk up window with a couple of picnic tables if you choose to dine al fresco. This place is only open after 3:30 Thurs-Sun so it’s not a top choice for lunch, but for an evening meal or snack you can’t go wrong.

This place has by far, the best tacos around. The people that run it are husband and wife, and their daughter helps them out with orders. We found it by accident when the place we wanted to go was closed, and we were a little nervous to try it. If you’ve seen the meatmarket, it’s not exactly the cleanest looking place from the outside. But when you walk up to the window to place your order, it is extremely clean on the inside. The people are friendly and remember their customers. It only took us twice for the lady to remember us and greet us with a warm smile and thanked us for coming back. The prices are reasonable and the meat is not fatty like other places. I highly recommend it!

You could call it food truck food, but technically it’s connected to the Culebra Meatmarket. You order through a window and the menu items are on the sides. I’ve only seen them open at night, and it’s exclusively outside eating. They have a couple picnic tables out front, but I’m more of a to-go guy. I had the al pastor tacos. It has onions and cilantro mixed in it inside two small corn tortillas. Three for less than six bucks! It comes with your choice of salsa and lemons on the side. The ingredients tasted fresh and the portions were perfect. Be careful with the salsa. Even the weakest one has a sneaky kick to it, and I’m no salsa spring chicken. I also saw quesadillas, tortas, and other types of tacos(birria and carnitas if I remember correctly). She makes them to order, but if you call ahead you don’t have to wait if it’s busy. They are really nice people and the food was great!
