Godiva Chocolatier

A long time ago when I was young and didn’t know better, I would have said Godiva is the best chocolate shop ever. But my palate has become more discerning and I’ve tried a lot of chocolate. But for San Antonio– I do think Godiva is very good. If you want to get a special gift for someone who loves chocolate, you can’t go wrong here. Their truffles are inventive and they are constantly trying new things like seasonal truffles and collaborations with famous chefs. Once during the Autumn Festival they had chocolate moon cakes!
My favorite items are the ice cream (get a punch card, buy 6 get 1 free) and hazelnut chocolate biscuits. I think Godiva biscuits go perfectly with tea. Any of the flavors are delicious. They recently started offering shortbread and I immediately gobbled a whole box of the chocolate ones after I stepped out of the store.
The employees at this particular location are incredibly friendly and cheerful. They always wrap everything with care and give me great advice on new truffles to try. I do recommend joining the chocolate club. You get a free truffle every month! Sometimes they limit which free truffle you can get but there are usually a lot of good things to try (crème brûlée truffle!). And you also get perks like $ 10 off every once in awhile.
The store is tiny so avoid this place during the holidays if you are claustrophobic. During Black Friday, a week before Christmas and Easter — there’s a mad rush to get chocolate so it gets packed. The chocolate is a bit pricey but after a holiday — go crazy and treat yo self.

I am extremely frustrated by this location. I have been in a number of times and spent over $ 10 but when I tried to get my free monthly piece I get with my account, they keep telling me they can’t see my previous purchases. So they are obviously not ringing these up under my account. Today when I went in I was given the run around again and not given any chocolate. I don’t know why I bother since the chocolate isn’t all that anyway.

Very friendly staff! I don’t know a lot about the different types of chocolate but my gf loves this place, so I come frequently. The staff are polite and helpful every time I stop by. Oh yea and if you’re a member you get a free chocolate once a month!

This is the deal peeps… amazing chocolate. In every variety you can imagine ~ all dressed up and ready for you to gift someone. The holiday packaging is really awesome. Everyone like to get decadent yummies!
Plus, FANTASTIC service. Like really fantastic — no high pressure sales. I wish I saved my receipt and had the name of the man that helped us… he was outstanding. Great experience!
