Excellent iced teas. Outdoor seating was wonderful. They even have many kinds of teas you can buy in bags and green tea cookies. Stop here if you are visiting the gardens. Also it is very clean and the staff are friendly.

I was skeptical at first, but was pleasantly surprised with the great service(Brandon) and delicious food. My sister and I each had the garden salad sampler(classic chicken salad) and both give it 5 stars. I accompanied it with the cucumber salad and avocado alices. They also make unique sweet teas. I had the goji acai; it was great to have something other than the ‘traditional’ sweet tea found in 95 percent of the restaurants out there.

If you enjoy tea that tastes like water and rude staff, this is the place to visit! Its location in the middle of Japanese Tea Garden earns one star

I came to visit the tea gardens, which are very pretty despite the pools being drained. I walked around for a while and then when the heat and stairs became overwhelming came up here to get a pot of tea and admire the scenery from an air-conditioned vantage point. I think the reason to come here is more about the ambience than anything else, though I had a very pleasant pot of peach apricot oolong. I wish it had been cool enough to sit outside because the view would have been better, but I was focused on not sweating out all the remaining liquid in my body so I opted to sit inside. There was still a quality view. Service was friendly and the tea selection is decent. I did not try the food, as much of it does not comport with my restrictions. The view cannot be beaten, the gardens are lovely and if you can handle the stairs they’re quite pleasant to walk around in.

I love the ambience! I love that they offer organic tea and food. Their food is wonderful! The place is quiet — it is a nice haven from the busy downtown feel! The construction is a bummer but it should be done when the weather is much cooler! I can’t wait to be back with my hubby!!!

This is a small little restaurant in the middle of the Japanese Tea Garden. They have a small dining room in the back, which was thankfully air conditioned. They do push you to buy some tea, but the tea is very delicious and you get enough for about 3 – 4 people for $ 3. We also ordered a bento box, which was AMAZING(and pretty big). There wasn’t a thing in there I didn’t love, but the calamari and seaweed salad was especially delicious. I think this may have been the best meal I had in my entire trip to Texas! The service was prompt, polite, and friendly, and the whole environment was very clean and elegant. I definitely recommend this not only to get out of the hot Texas sun, but for the great food and service.

I really don’t feel overly qualified to rate Jingu because I bought a bottle of water and two cookies as part of a bargain to utilize their facilities. Hey, I have kids — you do what you have to! I thought it was very lovely inside with a nice ambiance, and um… very clean facilities. There was a wedding being set up, and that looked like it had been handled nicely, and I can imagine a lovely reception here. I will def pop in again if I revisit the Japanese Tea Garden. TIP: The cookies are homemade onsite and delish!

Not as bad as the previous review might suggest, I think. It’s a novelty café in what’s otherwise an attraction, so my expectations were pretty weak. But the tea for 3 was a fine, even charming, setup, and in cooler weather sharing an infuser with a special someone on their back patio with a view of the stunning architecture and serene ponds of the tea garden could really be some quality bonding time. It would help to hire some more people who know what«oolong» is, though.

Had a vegetarian wrap and it was pretty good. The muffin was awesome, very moist. Service was excellent! They were closed and my little daughter wanted to use the putty. I was a bit apprehensive after I read the last review. I entered the lady said sorry we are closed. Before I said anything she asked if someone just wanted to use the putty. I said yes and she let us. I was quit impressed.

I have stopped in Jingu house on two seperate occasions, only because I was visiting the garden. The first time there I ordered a hot«Specialty Tea»(earl grey) to go — It was $ 3.00 and there was nothing special about it. I’m a bit of a tea enthusiast so I was hoping they’d have something of the nice loose leaf variety. Anyway, I played tennis with my boyfriend today, and he said he wanted to visit the garden and look at the koi fish afterwards. I drank alittle too much water trying to rehydrate myself lol, so I had to pee, emergency! So, I checked all the outside bathrooms, none of them had toilet paper and they were a disaster. So I went inside Jingu house since they had the only other bathroom on the property. An Asian woman at the counter greeted me and handed me a menu. I glanced over it. I asked her where the restroom was at, she informed me that I had to buy something off of the menu first. I told her about the state of the bathrooms outside and she said«Ohhh… well… Sorry! But you can’t use ours unless you buy something». She totally did not care. I really had to go, so I was like«(fine, whatever) I’ll take a water»($ 2.00). So she said, «Okay, do you have any small change» as I was handing her the credit card. I didn’t. She said, «It’s a $ 5.00 minimum on the credit card machine. Do you want a pastry with that!?». Well, I’d already eaten, and they didn’t look at all appetizing. So, I picked up the menu again, but I couldn’t even concentrate. I was so irritated and she was so rude and careless I decided that no matter how bad I had to go, I didn’t want to purchase anything from her(ever) at that point. So I walked out. Then my boyfriend and I left and went to Bombay Bicycle Club and spent our money there instead. I was really appalled by her complete lack of concern. I wouldn’t go back.

Because of the location and the history of the location i really wanted to like thus place. I really wanted a five star experience. Sometimes reality just cannot be aligned with wishes. I got the Bento Box. Everything was OK with the exception of the sushi roll. Not terrible but not worth a special trip for. As for the sushi, the rice was dried out. Like the roll was made in advance and placed in the refrigerator waiting to be ordered. The two who visited with me both had salads. Both salads were missing ingredients that were promised in the menu. The biggest key to overall customer is honoring commitment. Omitting ingredients and serving old sushi is failing on commitment. When the chef asked how everything was, i stated to tell him about the dry rice and he just turned and walked away. I am not sure what is worse, allowing sub par food to leave the kitchen or just not caring. This was all brought up to the waitress/cashier i was notified the regular chef was sick today and this chef was filling in. This restaurant is run by a local catering company. All of their chefs should be able to offer quality food and have pride in their work.
