The JPL is a great library for students! In addition to the starbucks and food court on the first floor, they offer a popular reading collection, private study rooms that you can easily book online, plenty of computers, several copy machines and scanners, and designated quiet study areas. In addition to what seems to be an endless variety of books and periodicals, they have a wide collection of e-books as well as dvds and laptops for check out. My favorite service is the«get it for me» service, where you can request books that the library has in circulation. No more searching through the stacks to find your book! With this service you can have the books pulled from the shelves for you and ready for pick up at the front desk. If they don’t have the book you need, you can also request it through this same service. The JPL participates in inter-library loan and can request the book you need from other libraries. To top it off, all of the library staff I have met have been knowledgeable and friendly. If you are a student, you should definitely take advantage of your library fee and utilize the library.

It’s a typical library. It’s on the 2nd floor + the 3rd floor(I think) of the JPL(John peace Library) building at UTSA. I don’t really go here too often but seems nice and quiet if that’s your thing. It’s got a great view of the campus if you go outside on the library floor, pretty much the center of where all the classrooms are. The first floor is a food court and financial aid/registrar/fiscal services offices. Not sure how it works if you’re not a student, you might have a harder time accessing some things mainly for students only like wifi(their guest wifi is pretty bad).

This library is impressive — three floors complete with quiet rooms, private study desks, community study areas, study rooms(some equipped with dry erase boards while others have walls made up of dry erase boards), and even charging areas for your phones. The folks who work here are really nice and for the most part, leave you alone to take care of what you need to take care of. It’s also pretty cool that you can check to see what computers are available from a remote area as long as you go to the main UTSA website. On the ground floor, there’s a cafeteria complete with Chick-fil-A, Subway, Starbucks, and a salad bar and a quick grab for sandwhiches. Oh and a sushi place that’s there but not open. The prices are about the same as you would pay off campus. Just keep in mind that at least the Chick-fil-A won’t have the entire menu available but they do have nuggets, chicken sandwhiches, and waffle fries there. Not sure about Subway.

This place is amazing! I love the librarians– they are always ready and willing to help, even with the most inane, and off-the-wall requests. The place isn’t especially quiet, but they do have the quiet study area where talking is strictly forbidden. They offer TVs to watch movies on, record players to listen to their wide array of recorded music. This place has it all. Their DVD collection is pretty huge too! I’m impressed by their periodicals area, which is amazing. Through Interlibrary Loans, if they don’t have it, they’ll get it for you. Here’s the downside– if you don’t attend UTSA, it’s difficult to get into the wifi. They do offer computer terminals for non-students, which is generous.
