Very nice place! Its small but the environment is really relaxing to enjoy breakfast or coffee. I tried the«Salmon croissant» and it was delicious! Also gotta try the Tortas mexicanas as it appear they are famous for!

Best lunch ever!!! They have the BESTCHICKENSALADCROISSANTSANDWICHEVER!!! And I am NOT a sandwich person. Everything on their menu has been very good. My go to food is always the chicken salad sandwich though. The desserts are a whole different story. They are all exceptional!!! From the corn cakes to the cupcakes, you just can’t go wrong with your choices.

In San Antonio for a hospital stay so we explore the local food scene every chance we get. We wandered in, to see what was available. The quince and Brie croissant is worth the stop on its own! Not to mention a quaint and beautiful, intimate, dining area and delicious coffee options! Well worth the visit. We WILL be back …

Mmmmm… Excellent food. Clean place and friendly staff. We had the tortas: fresh bread and ingredients. I’m too full to try their baked goods but I’m taking their blueberry banana muffin to go! Smells delish!

Great breakfast and lunch place. Reminds me of small bakery/sandwich shops in Mexico City. The red chorizo and egg tortas are killer!!! Pozole is very good too. Hell… everything is good here. What else can I say! You need to try it.

This a quaint restaurant with simple selections of omelettes and tortas. We had the toruqueno and carnitas tortas– both very good! Definitely favored their toruqueno over their carnitas. The toruqueno is a green chorizo made of cilantro, spinach and other spices– very flavorful. Their Baguettes and green chorizos are made in their kitchen. On top of this, they have an array of pastries to choose from. All tables were pretty much taken by 10 am. Worth a return visit!

I absolutely adore this place! It’s seriously my favorite place to get lunch from or in need of something sweet. I order from here at least once a week if not twice sometimes three. I’d eat here every day if I could. My tortas are always fresh, and made with fresh ingredients. Everything I’ve eaten from here is to DIEFOR!!! I tried the green pozole for the first time today and OMG it was incredible! I love love love love love love love this place and I will forever get food and pastries from here! I love the owners too! Both of them are so sweet and so awesome!

Magnolia Pancake House was packed, so my family decided to try here instead. And what a great decision that was! This is a charming little café /bakery where the food is fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. The place has a relaxed vibe and the staff is very friendly, which we appreciated after an otherwise trying morning. All in all, we had a great experience and I’ll definitely head here the next time I’m in town. P. S. Try the desserts — they’re awesome!

Maybe if all you want to do is come here and stuff yourself silly with sweet baked goods, this spot is a good pick. The AM menu includes various tasty-sounding tortas, and they have additional lunch options. But I came for coffee and breakfast. Considering the name, their selection of baked breakfast goods is a bit sparse: almond croissants, financiers, canele, and some fruit thing that didn’t catch my attention. They’re decently well made– the canele in particular was a delight, beautiful with a soft and creamy custard center. The almond croissant was not as flaky and light as anticipated, and was quite large, but despite the texture issues had a nice amount of almond paste inside and good flavor. Prices are a bit high, even considering the quality. I did not notice a pastry pricing list and was surprised to get a total a hair shy of $ 10 for three items. Not a fan of their coffee situation, either: menu offers organic dark roast, no specialty options available. That’s fine. But the $ 1 surcharge for a takeout cup isn’t.

This is a very cute little bakery in a largish strip center off NW Military Highway, easy to miss if you are not watching out for it… so make sure you watch out for it, because the rewards of paying attention are tremendous! All the cakes are excellent though their frosting is always a bit too sweet for me. Tarts are well made with a sturdy yet tender crust, fillings are well crafted to complement crust, the canales are fabulously good with a crunchy caramelized exterior and a soft interior. The tolequeno omelet boasts homemade green chorizo which provides a perfect herby burst of flavor and is enveloped by eggs to form a perfect omelet. The only gripe is that it comes a small quesadilla which is just one small corn tortilla folded in half and does make for a meager breakfast. Tortas are pefectly made with well crafted fillings and the bread… oh the bread! A perfect crumb inside with a crisply chewy texture on the outside makes for a sandwich that feels hefty, yet eats extremely well. I would be at 5 stars with them was it not for the crazy upcharges they do for simple subs(case in point: asked for beans to feed the grandson and was given a serving about the size of the cup one gets at Whataburger for ketchup… and charged 3 bucks!, add bread to the omelet — big debate and 4 bucks). So follow the rules: eat a little bit before you go there, no subs, no extras and all will be great! it is definitely a place to have on the list.

I had the most perfect Sunday morning here. Food was spot on. Service was impeccable. And location was ideal. After Church I always want to eat brunch. Malinallis came up on Unilocal and it was only 3 mins away from my church. After a quick and scenic drive I found Malinalli in a nice shopping center. There was even a farmers market right outside! I made a mental note to check out the farmers market(and so should you!) When I came there were no tables inside left but a few ladies sitting by the door offered to give me the end of their table(because it could comfortably seat 6). I felt incredibly welcomed by the servers and even the other patrons. I spent a few minutes pouring over the menu and decided on the carnitas and eggs breakfast tortas. I also got a jasmine tea and croissant, canele, cream puff(my favorite always) and a pear tart that looked irresistible(yes I took some home…). Orders are made at the front(where you can take a longing look at the yummy pastries). My jasmine tea came out first. It was organic and in a pyramid type of tea bag(which tells me it’s probably good quality). I think they used a little too much water since I prefer my tea pretty strong. I think 2 bags in the giant mug they gave me would have been better. But that’s a small problem and I’m nitpicky about tea. Then my tortas came, along with a fun and colorful bowl of pickled vegetables(bell peppers, onions) in a little basket. I took the first bite and instantly knew his place would be my go to place after church. It’s spectacular! The bread was perfect. Crispy outer and chewy inner. The fillings were savory but not too rich. I think the pickles balanced it out so well. It was truly delicious. I can’t wait to try out all the other tortas. When I left, the server handed me my bag of to go pastries. He also saved the cream puff in the refrigerated section, not wanting it to become warm while I ate. And he also gave me a tip about reheating the croissant. How were the pastries you ask? Perfect. My cream puff had vanilla bean whipped cream and cannelle had the perfect sugary crust and dense, chewy innards. Flavors were absolutely perfect. I will definitely come back here every Sunday after church. I was so pleased with my experience. It was capped off by a nice visit to the farmers market right outside. Sunday’s cannot get any better than this.

Update: menu has changed — no more pâté! Also, Unilocal coupon deal is virtually pointless, as most sandwiches are already under $ 8 and they no longer serve soup. No on in the place even recognized it. They honored the 50 cents off because I ordered the only sandwich that cost $ 9, but offered no recompense for the soup. Oh well, the croissants are still great!

Really good place for breakfast.(I’ve never been for lunch.) Prices are reasonable and it’s generally not very crowded especially on weekdays. Food is excellent. The 3 vegetarian breakfast items are solid: 1) Roasted Poblano Sandwich 2) Poblano Omelette 3) Mountanier Omelette Baked goods are great as well.

Excelente!

This is a nice quaint buster with a Friendly staff but a little slow in service. The breakfast and lunch tortas were unbelievably delicious and had a great combination of ingredients. The red chorizo torta was perfectly balanced between the bread and the stuffing, unlike most other tortas where you get more bread than anything. The carnitas torta had a kick from the sautéed jalapeños. The croissants were nice and crispy and flaky! A great place to eat!

Mt first visit. I had the almond croissant. The ends and bottom were hard, and the end had a burnt taste. The inside was dense. It was very sweet. The Mexican hot chocolate was perfectly delicious. The staff was friendly.

This has been the Sunday morning post-run spot for brunch. Upon reading the description of French-Mexican cuisine, the first thought that crossed this dirty, mischevious, little(emphasis on little) mind was, «Say wha???» I thought, «Well gosh darn it, what will people think of next? A hamburger hot dog, a Philly steak steak kabab, a pad thai pizza?» Wait. On second thought… Let me just say this. Everything I’ve tried there has been outstanding. Their omelettes are so damn delicious. Try the salmon one. Or the chorizo one. Or the vegetarian one. I’m working my way through every single one just for QA purposes. Their egg scrambles? Equally as good. Their salmon egg scramble? Goddamn yo! I wish I could replicate that. Whoever the hell is back there cooking is a damn genius. GENIUS I TELLYOU!!! And for pre/during/post meal, their baked goods and coffee always hit the spot. Their croissants are some of the best, if not the best I’ve had on this side of the pond; they’re flaky, buttery and fluffy. As you tear it apart, it unravels from the inside in a circular manner. Damn. You really can’t have just one. Or two. I have yet to try the lunch menu but I can’t wait!

LOVEATFIRSTBITE!!! Y’all gotta check out this cute little bistro! Alan & Veronica have created the perfect ambiance with their warm color scheme, soft music, & service with a smile :) Prices are extremely reasonable. Their tortas are big enough for two at only $ 6-$ 8. The bread is made in house. The ingredients are fresh. Everything is made to order. The tarts are perfect. The fillings are not overly sweet and the crust is flakey — like a pie crust. The cupcakes are moist. Although I thought there was too much icing, which made it a tad too sweet for me. But overall, a delicious cupcake. Gluten free selection available too! Baked good selections change often. But the one constant are the almond croissants & thank goodness for that! They are fantastic! We haven’t been disappointed with any of our selections so far. Looking forward to trying more!

This is my 4th time here and I continue to be satisfied with every bite I take! Today’s pick was the Especial Torta made with ham, chicken, bacon, Oaxaca cheese, onions, lettuce, bell pepper and avocado. They added something new, although not yet listed on their menu, the black bean soup was on point! It was full of flavor and just what I needed on this cold, rainy Wednesday. Their pastries are delectable along with their coffee which is imported from Mexico. The marrying of French/Latin flavors adds an exquisite taste to everything they prepare, which by the way, is all homemade! An added bonus is their selection of music! A cross between Gypsy Kings and Top 40s with a jazzy twist. As I type this«Tainted Love» is oozing from the speakers from a very sexy, blues voice. Whew! Is is hot in here? If you visit SA soon, stop on in. The owners are amazing individuals… very warm, genuine — authentic — just like their food!

First impression, love the mix of French & jazzy music, clean overall look, sturdy rustic tables, and giant glass covered display that is kept very clean. Intimate setting with no more than 22 people Max total assuming every table is filled to capacity. The start of my visit begins with questions which were gladly answered, they also told me they have 12 – 2 lunch special of sandwich with soup, but it wasn’t vegetarian though he offered to see what alternative he could make I decide that it’s the day for simple comparison. I’ll explore another time. Almond crescent has a coating on it, upon asking I was told it’s a house made almond paste they put inside and out. Very yummy and unique to the more gritty chopped almonds im use to in an almond crescent. I love the flavor and creaminess which isn’t something I’ve found common in sweet flavor profile, though personally I would have preferred a little more actual sliced almonds to give crunch texture to the soft and almost mushy middle portion of the bread. Overall I still enjoyed taking my time to eat and explore the dimension of flavor and textures. The coffee is good, though I had to over sweeten it since I was careless to not try some before the sweetened crescent touched my tongue and can’t really accurately judge it flavor wise without being bias at this point of overachieved sugar levels in my meal. However I can say I retasted after topping off with fresh hot coffee and there is a definite bold yet smooth flavor that I tend to enjoy in my café/bistro locations I usually haunt. A huge plus is the water/sweeteners station with silverware to help yourself. Though each table has sugar substitute and sugar with the obligatory salt pepper shakers and napkin dispenser you can find honey and agave at the water niche in the wall. They give you the typical small cups of coffee I was surprised with a stainless steel coffee carafe brought to my table to refill myself vs waiting/signaling the busy staff for one. Very considerate and clever idea steal since I’ve only seen this at chains such as IHOP or egg&I. A side note to add, though I didn’t order it a regular came in with her granddaughter while I was lounging in my corner and ordered the hot chocolate which came in such a large cup I couldn’t help but comment it was the big brother to my coffee cup. I could easily see it being 18 – 24 oz from the comparison of my own 8 – 10 oz size cup. The desserts, all of which I pictured, are very reasonably priced($ 2.75– 3.99) which impressed me almost as much as the careful and beautiful designs put into each pastry to make them works of edible art. Though I won’t be trying anything else today since they close soon and I’m still full from my late breakfast, it says something to me that the impression made was so positive and strong for a quick pop in visit for coffee and crescent to snack while reading and I never even got around to my book!(I’m an avid reader and book worm so anyone who knows me well would be shocked by an untouched new book kept in my company for hours with no kiddo to distract me). Ill look forward to my next trip and introducing them to my friends! However I’ll reserve the final star until I’ve tried a more broad variety than a single item from the pastry selection. :)
