Old Danny’s Cocina

First time here. My wife said it was good and she has been going for years. She was right, it was delicious. Some of the best puffy tacos I’ve ever had actually. The rice was a bit on the cold side but the taste was there. 10 Tables with customers and only one waitress… It was kind of annoying because I could here the waitress complaining to some of her customers. You just don’t do that. at least I wouldn’t. But I understood that she could have used some help. Overall, good food. Will be back for more tacos.

Haven’t been here in awhile… it was a joke.
Eggs tasted like entirely too much water had been incorporated before cooking… and all of our tasted like it had all been cooked in the same pan…

It’s name begged me to go in as I drove by: «Old Danny’s Cocina». Huh?!?
I walked in and had to snake around a mariachi. Not a mariachi band. A mariachi guitar playing independent contractor who was earning some dough entertaining the lunch crowd. Feeling the outsider, I slinked into the corner booth. Chips and salsa were promptly served. «Una bebida?» «Una coca, por favor.» This was a neighborhood joint that didn’t stand on ceremony.
In the adjacent booth, of the one two less-​than-​gracefully aging Latina motorcycle mamas turned to me. «My sister, she wants to sit with you.» They laughed like hoarse schoolgirls. «OK, but you might start to get jealous of her», I playfully responded and they hooted and giggled.
My Coke came, my order was placed, I flirted sporadically with the
tatooed Leather Skin Twins and the mariachi made the rounds for some propinas. After he left, the place was not nearly as lively.
My tacos were very good — and freaking huge. The carne guisada was quite tender, and the tortillas were fresh. I don’t know if they were made at Old Danny’s or what, but they were less than a few hours old.
I’d go back even if the food and atmosphere weren’t as good as they were. I still have questions.
Who is Old Danny? Is there a Young Danny? Does he have a Cocina, too?
