I don’t usually write reviews. Had dinner with my husband and darling step-daughter for birthday celebrations last night. We usually go to the 1604 location, and I have to say, the service and the food were by far superior at Basse Rd. Our server was Daniel and he rocked! We had a custom made appetizer and I took his recommendation on the fish entrée. I am not a fish person, I had the Orange Roughy and it was amazing! Our beverages were always full, the attention to detail was very impressive! The Basse Rd location will be our new Paesano’s home even though we live right down the road from 1604. Hat’s off to Daniel!!! Do yourself a favor and visit this location and be sure to see if Daniel is working you won’t be disappointed. Thank you for making this a memorable dinner!

Dining in at Paesanos you must definitely ask for Daniel and request the Tour de Daniel. He is by far the best server they have and by far the best server I have ever had. Paesanos is blessed to have him in their ranks. I cannot wait to experience what he has for us next time!!!

Paesano’s is a San Antonio icon. The food is good and the service is attentive. They serve bread when you sit down(shame on those of you who don’t) along with good olive oil. I had the Shrimp Paesano’s, which is lightly breaded shrimp in a lemony butter sauce. It comes with pasta, but I substituted the spinach. Both were fantastic. The only downside for us was my daughter loves crème brûlée, but not with raspberries in it. They know how to handle large parties too!

Where do I begin? Jesus. For being what comes off as a fancy, upscale restaurant everything was terrible. From the service to the complementary bread to the wine selection to the prices to the actual food! Service: Our server seemed to know nothing about what was on the menu besides the«special» which was the shrimp paesano. Going to a new place you’ve never been before with Italian words you might not recognize you’re going to have some questions, and of course you would expect your server to know the answers. Every question we had he had to go ask his manager and then come back. He also seemed to know nothing about wine which is ridiculous considering the extensive wine list that they have. If we had a question about the wine they would have to grab a bar manager to help make our selection. Alcohol: They had a huge wine selection, but an EXTREMELY limited selection of wine you can buy by the glass which is totally ridiculous. They didn’t even have a Cabernet or a Tempranillo you can buy by the glass. Not even a brut or cava! So I opted out of getting wine and decided to look at their booze selection. The only thing I felt comfortable drinking straight from that selection was Hendrick’s gin, and so I asked how much it would be for a pour and it was $ 11 which is nearly outrageous. The average price for a pour of Hendrick’s is $ 8 so I decided just to stick with my water. Food: The complementary bread was cold, and when we asked why it was cold the server just said it came like that and offered us some warm garlic bread. We took his offer, and the garlic bread wasn’t bad but it definitely wasn’t something you’d expect to get at a fancy restaurant. It seemed more like something you can make on your own at home. Since I couldn’t really get great explanatory answers on what is what when it came to some selections on the menu I decided to go the easy route and try out there chicken Parmesan which comes with a side salad and spaghetti. How could you go wrong there, right? Italian restaurants usually do that right so I thought I was in the safe zone. My friend also stayed safe and ordered the lasagna. Our salads comes out and it’s literally just lettuce with some kind of dressing on it. She had a Cesar salad and it was the same thing just with Cesar dressing. No croutons, no Parmesan. The dressing on mine was good, but no one told us what kind of dressing it was. There were no croutons or no other veggies on the«salad». The chicken Parmesan was the absolute worst I’ve ever had in my life. The sauce tasted like chef boyardee, and the chicken was ridiculously thin and spongy. They barely even tried to make the spaghetti look appetizing. On the menu it says you can add a side shrimp paesano for 3.99 so I decided to do that, and even that was disappointing. It was ONE shrimp that was fried and then basically doused in butter that reminded me of the popcorn butter you get at the movies. Who really wants to buy ONE shrimp? My friends lasagna also tasted like chef boyardee and it had no meat or anything. She literally had to go to the restroom cause she thought she was going to puke. I work in the service industry, and I never have been the type of person to send anything back if I didn’t like it. I usually just don’t eat it or drink it, pay, go on my way, and don’t go back. It was so bad this time that I couldn’t do that. I ended up sending my food back because of how terrible it was. All in all, this place was a huge disappointment and I wouldn’t recommend anyone go here. You’re better off going to mediocre Olive Garden.

My family and I had a fantastic time at this place. We started off with an appetizer special– fried extra large calamari, fried artichoke and two shrimp Paesano. Just the right amount of food for a starter and I’ve never seen such big calamari! My red snapper with artichoke and mushrooms was also perfectly cooked. Everyone else at the table said they all enjoyed their dishes as well. The serving staff was also on point the entire meal. Definitely would recommend for a nice occasion.

I usually visit here once a week(if that) and the food varies. One week it’s delish and on point, the next weeks it’s like Olive Garden around 10pm when there doors are about to shut(it sucks) BUT I love the ambience and their bread is wonderful…

Paesano’s. I recently tried this place out while on business in San Antonio. I lived in SA for a few years and never ventured over, and now I understand why. Our order. We ordered the special lobster fettuccini in a chipotle cream sauce, and their«signature» dish, the shrimp paesano. Let me tell you, the first bite I took of the lobster pasta dish has to be one of the single worst, if not worst, dining experiences I have EVER had. I mean I felt like I bit into barbecue sauce and mayonnaise whipped together in blender and poured over noodles. I thought to myself, «wow, dear lord I just may vomit at the table». Luckily, I managed to get a grip on my stomach and kindly asked the server to box the food up. But question, how does a restaurant, especially one charging 30+ dollars a plate screw up lobster? I mean really? I feel bad for the poor animal that gave up its life to be served in such an atrocious dish. Now let me turn my attention to the shrimp paesano. This is Paesano’s pride and joy. Our server told us «some people don’t even look at the menu, they just order the shrimp paesano». I thought to myself, «well I can’t go wrong with this». If you’re considering ordering this dish please allow me to save you some trouble — go to HEB, buy pre-made fried shrimp, and a sack full of the yellow movie popcorn butter. Then for good measure throw in a stick of butter and two tablespoons of sugar. Now boil some noodles and plate. There you have it! Movie popcorn butter on top of fried shrimp with noodles! You know what guys, let’s make a restaurant and serves this overpriced garbage to the unsuspecting public and pass it off as an upscale meal! Anyway this place is just awful. I would love to write a more scathing review but I don’t know if that’s possible. Instead of dropping 80 bones here I mean for God sake, just go buy 5 dollar menu cheeseburgers from McDonald’s, blend them up, and put them on some fettuccine. Then put the other 75 on a bottle of wine. It’s money better spent. Hate.

A friend of a friend brought me some Paesano’s as a thank you. She brought me the calamari and the seafood linguini. both were delicious. the calamari is giant. Each piece is about the size of a chicken finger, if not bigger. I liked the addition of chopped basil sprinkled on top. I only wished that they supplied aioli as opposed to marinara sauce, which I thought was about 15% too sweet. The seafood linguini was amazing. Great al dente pasta with shaved garlic, mussels, littleneck clams, scallops, shrimp. I highly recommend this pasta dish. All in all, I would visit this restaurant.

The special menu this month was absolutely delicious!!! The food and service were spot on. The special salad was lovely. The Gorgonzola chicken, pasta and green beans were delicious. The raspberry crème brûlée was to die for. Great price fix meal for $ 17!

This place is over priced and all the food is SUPERBLAND! Our waiter was all hopped up on something. He kept making weird noises and sound effects. Very annoying. Back to he food… I had a ribeye with some type of mushroom wine reduction. It was terrible. I’ve never had to add salt to any steak I’ve ever ordered. The meal also came with a side salad. Really!!! At this price range you are gonna bring me brown and wilted lettuce?! Fucking gross! Wife ordered seafood linguine. The entire dish was bland and lacked flavor. She had a few bites and asked them to box it up. She put her own spices and other things to make it edible. Had it for lunch the next day. We had a party of 13 and all of us were very disappointed.

Did you grow up in the 90s eating canned spaghetti-o’s? If so you’re going to love what comes to the table in this kitchen nightmare worthy«restaurant.» Pass the rat poison!

So Paesano’s was good. i had the gluten free veggie noodle dish(yes that was so unspecific lol). It had squash, zucinni(how do you spell that veggie??), tomatoes, asparagus, and another(can’t remember). Had it with marinara sauce. I did eat the salad with Italian. but I think the dressing had some type of dairy in it? didn’t go with my tummy well(or husband’s either) … My mom had the eggplant parmasan(again can’t spell that cheese either lol), friends had shrimp scalapini, and roasted beef tip? Sucking out marrow from the bone. There dishes range from 12(for pasta) to 46 for steak type stuff. They are rather expensive, but I went for a graduation celebration. The customer service is wonderful and the waiter we had knew how to control two tables and over 20 people’s orders. They have a seperate gluten free and vegan menu, just ask for it. Oh yeah, with my daughter’s pizza(they only have one size), my half portion pasta and my husband’s pasta plus 2 drinks. it was a little over $ 50 bucks. plus tip: $ 64 bucks.

Soooo, I never really do reviews but. I want to warn anyone that orders the«seared tuna» DNT! My husband ordered it(medium) and it came out ice cold-now.I know you can eat it sushi style, however, we were not at a sushi restaurant, we were at an Italian one and don’t know how long it was sitting out or pre-cooked. Needless to say, he got sick and the manager offered us 30 $ gift card«less than what the plate itself cost». He refused it and we left. What a bummer!

I am very impressed — the service was great and prompt, but the reason I even decided to write this review is this: I was here with a large group of co-workers(so no doggy-bags). Hence, I did not want to order pasta(watching my waist, but also don’t feel right throwing out the food I didn’t eat!) — so I zoomed in on the tuna dish. Now, I only like my tuna raw — theirs was an actual cooked dish… Very gingerly I asked the waiter if they could only flash-fry it on each side for a sec(«no cooking!!!» i emphasized) — and that’s what I wanted. Raw fish, basically. — I was very pleasantly surprised when there was not so much as a raised eyebrow from the waiter — and very soon I was eating some very delicious fish, rendered even more delicious by the reduction and the sauce that it came with. Now, that is what I call customer service and making sure a diner has the best experience. Of note, my numerous co-diners, who all ordered different stuff, were very happy as well.

Stopped in after we did some shopping in the Quarry Market to grab an appetizer and a glass of wine with my daughter. I absolutely love their jumbo calamari which is fried to perfection. I am not a fan of the sweet sauce this is served with. Next time I order calamari I will make sure to ask for more options for the sauce. Today we were dressed down so we decided to sit in the bar area and were served by Heather who was very attentive.

I went here with my mom because she had a gift card and it was delicious with friendly service! We got the shrimp pasta primavera which ended up being more like adult Mac and cheese, but I wasn’t complaining. This is a great place to get your unhealthy starch fix! The servings are massive. The chocolate banana bread pudding is also excellent.

I love Italian food but I will not order Italian when I visit. My taste buds have a small issue with the marinara meat sauce they use on their spaghetti. I have been for several lunch meetings in their party rooms that always come with a small pre-selected menu so I have had several of their pasta dishes and they are just ok. Their famous Shrimp Paesano leaves me hungry and the butter sauce gets boring after one shrimp. So why do I visit at least once sometimes twice a month?! When I need a «healthly salad» I always choose Paesano’s. Their Special Salad is AMAZING! It comes with avocado, hearts of palm, artichokes and tomatoes and I usually get it with a small portion of the calamari steak fingers. It is one of the best calamari’s in San Antonio. This meal is 5 stars! Add in the brown fruit and nut bread and I am in heaven. Warning … their dinner specials are very pricy. Our mouth was watering after the server told us about a crab special and it was really good but I still had sticker shock when the bill came and it was $ 45. Please note that they have two other locations in San Antonio but the menus are not the same that is why I am writing a review for this location. Like I mentioned this location and the one off 1604 was very nice private dining areas so keep them in mind if you are needing space.

Came by a little early to eat lunch before my reading assignment. I tried the drum special. Two lightly-breaded drum filets with a lemon cream caper sauce with garlic pasta and green beans. Also came with the house salad. The server Joe was very accommodating. He spaced the food timing very well as I had some time to kill. He also gave me some garlic bread in addition to the usual bread basket. The drum was very good. Only $ 15.95. Pretty good for Paesano’s. I was tempted to do dessert, but was just too full. A very nice experience.

If you have never been here and you like shrimp you will have to try the Shrimp Paesano. I like mine with Capalleni & the traditional lemon butter sauce it is excellent. The calamari is more like calamari steak fingers so be prepared to share with like 4 people or you’ll never get through your food. Love the cocktails too.
