One of the best local places in the area. Usually come here with a friend or two. We love the atmosphere and vibe here. Very reasonable price. Nice service.

My girlfriend and I always come out of our way to come here and get their Iced Coffee. Being an ex Barista at Starbucks I can say it’s delicious! Worth the drive!

I came around 3pm on a Tuesday for a very late lunch. It was very quiet… Only 3 other people in the store. I got an Americano and a queso pesto quesadilla. The Americano was a little weak. It tasted like a regular coffee actually. And the cup it came in was piping hot! It was a Dixie coffee cup without a sleeve so it was really hot. That didn’t bother me too much though. They have a really extensive menu and all of the items are quite inexpensive. There were hamburgers, hotdogs, sandwiches and an assortment of desserts. There are several regular coffees to choose from. They are sitting in carafes next to the register. They didn’t look very fresh when I came in. It was nice that they offer 1 free refill but it just didn’t look super clean to me. Aspens Brew offers a similar system but the coffee is in these large urns and there are a ton of flavors to choose from. The quesadilla I got was ok. I wish it was spicier. It was very savory though and incredibly filling for $ 5.75. The baristas are very friendly! Overall ambience is ok. It’s quiet so you can definitely study here. I probably won’t come back since I prefer Aspen and Indy coffee though.

I like the coffee here because it doesn’t taste burnt or bitter. It was very smooth. I tried a vanilla latte’ with coffee ice cubes. I loved how my drink didn’t taste watered down towards the end like it usually does when I get it at other places. I will definitely come here again.

I wish I lived closer to this coffee shop as there aren’t too many small, neighborhood businesses like this in my area of town. It’s family owned and has house made breakfast and lunch items to accompany any of their coffee drinks. The dining area has tables and couches and featured some local art work in the form of paintings, photography, and even a music performance. It’s nice to have a place that appreciates neighborhood talent while also brewing very good coffee for them. There should be more mom and pop coffee shops where the staff are friendly and welcoming and the coffee is actually good. Perks delivers that in a way that most small businesses in the area cannot. I was a very big fan of this restaurant and I would recommend it to anyone on a weekend morning.

Really good coffee, super strong, and ground fresh in front of your eyes. Fresh lattes, mocha, espressos, smoothies, everything from a good coffee shop. My double espresso pulled strong was out of this world! Really knowledgeable baristas to facilitate your need

Perks is a cozy spot to chill either alone or with buddies(lots of seating… 3 tables, 5 high-tops, 1 sofa, 4 upholstered chairs + 2 outdoor tables), catch up on reading(usually very quiet, especially during slower summer months), or whip out the proverbial laptop(WiFi = «perkmeup»). I’m not the biggest fan of their self-serve, drip-brew coffee setup — witnessed not a single change-out even after a half day’s worth of studying. Although being able to pour yourself a refill or two is, yes, a FANTASTIC perk. Coffee quality is solid, honestly. After 3 consecutive days of exploring each of the currently offered roasts black, all are robust and flavorful enough to stand on their own. Their tastiest ‘Café de Olla’ blends anise, brown sugar & cinnamon into a sweet-licorice-peppery coffee, easy and smooth to drink. The ‘Finca San Antonio’ — chocolatey, buttery, strongly herbal — has quite an acidic aftertaste. And their medium roast ‘Texas Pecan’(my least favorite) reeks of pecans obviously. Perks TRIUMPHS with their Dirty Chai(chai latte + 1 – 3 shots of espresso); substitute with Silk for a slightly sweeter, creamier drink. Food offerings are substantial, portion sizes generous, and overall taste quite memorable. Croissant sandwiches, killer BLTs, classic breakfast tacos… you name it, they have it. Cheeseburger? Check. Turkey/Ham/Tuna Wrap? Check. Personal favorite? Perks’ $ 5.75 ‘Pesto Queso’ quesadilla — Monterey Jack, fresh sautéed spinach, zesty pesto & rotisserie chicken on grilled, Texas-sized flour tortillas. Feel free to join their VIP Club for a free coffee and to remain in-the-know. Loyalty cards are also available if you choose to be one of the neighborhood regulars(great for students… Marshall HS is but a 5-minute walk). Perks’ Local Artist Wall features pieces that are priced more than reasonably, and their bookshelf houses a decent variety of material. A final heads-up: DEPENDINGONTIMEOFYEAR, don’t be surprised if the shop temporarily closes midday from ~12−3PM. Overall, Perks is a pleasant café in a rather Starbucks-less area of San Antonio’s Northwest Side. Glad to have them.

Pretty chill little coffee place. My husband and I just moved to San Antonio and this place is right around the corner from our house. We needed a place to grab breakfast and use the Wi-Fi because we didn’t have any appliances yet. Food was great, we pretty much ate the breakfasts tacos every day! The only downside is that it’s right across from the high school so when the high schooler came in in the morning it was loud for a couple hours and super crowded.

Eggcellent breakfast sandwiches and Coffee! Very Affordable! Much quicker and cheaper then the other breakfast places in the area. They do have a limited menu, but the menu does have some good choices. The coffee is excellent and some are locally sourced. I highly recommend if your looking for a good quick affordable breakfast!

Our new favorite place! Service is amazing, food is fantastic and they are happy to make anything on the menu to your liking. It’s my co-workers and my new go-to place. Feel dumb having waited so long to try it out.

This a great and friendly place. The owners are very laid back and helpful when deciding on what to order. The frappucinos and smoothies are awesome! One thing is during the school year, there will be high schoolers, so just be prepared. But other than, it is a really nice and chill place to relax, catch up on reading and work on homework! Give it try! :)

Stopped into Perks after finding that our first choice, Courtyard Café, didn’t open until 8am(it was 7:10am and we needed to be done with breakfast by 8am). The name indicates that at least the coffee should be good, but let me tell you, nothing about Perks perked me enough to even consider going back and I will usually give a place 3 tries before making an ultimate decision. First, my friend and I were coming from the gym and wanted something somewhat healthy to eat, but the menu offered NADA in this category. I can forgive them for this — I mean, it’s not like they were advertising nutritious healthy breakfasts — we were just hoping to have an option. My friend asked for her breakfast tacos on corn tortillas and we were told by the owner that he tried serving corn at one time, but«it’s just so hard to find a really good corn tortilla» that he stopped and just uses flour. UUUUMMMMM — we’re in SANANTONIO, Texas dude, I can give you 5 places off the top of my head that have delicious, thick, tasty corn tortillas. She ended up ordering her tacos without the tortillas, so basically just an egg, potato, bacon scramble. She said it was«ok» but certainly nothing to write home about. I ordered the breakfast bagel sandwich. It too was plain Jane not to mention the cheese was a Kraft American single slice — GAGME! If you’re going to serve food, put in a little effort and choose ingredients that are of some quality and not just the cheapest thing you can find in bulk at the local Sam’s Club. My friend got an iced tea which they brewed fresh(that’s the 1 start they got in my rating) and I chose a coffee. It came out piping hot and I was looking forward to it. WWWOOOOWHHHOOOMMMP — It tasted like black water, bland, no taste at all, I didn’t even finish half a cup. I went home and brewed myself a cup just to try to forget the horrible experience. Before we left we heard the wife of the owner tell another patron, when he asked if they served fruit, «we’re right across from a high school, so no, we don’t.» HUH? What the heck does that mean? I guess she was insinuating that because high school kids frequent their café that they don’t prefer fruit… maybe, not quite sure… still confused by this comment. I really wanted to like Perks because I like supporting small, family owned businesses, but their first impression was so bad that I can’t fathom putting myself through the torture again. Not to mention the menu didn’t offer any other options to make me want to return. If I do return it looks like(from other reviews) that I should stick to the specialty coffee as they’e all gotten good reviews.

great service, even when I stood at the counter for ten minutes being indecisive. good quality cheese and pesto… made the quesadilla yummy to the max. your average tea bag options accompanied my lunch, lucky me I came in around 2:30 when the high school lunch crowd was filtering out. the pastry options are a combination of home made and store bought. it’s overall a well lit happy little place that is love to revisit for a quiet spot to sip something hot and curl up on a couch.

Brian & Stacey rock. I love their place and their coffee. I’ve tried their white chocolate frap, the frosted cinnamon, and their Americano just to name a few. What I love is that you can even create your own concoction — just tell them what you’d like and they’ll whip it up for you! The first time I met them, I didn’t realize they were the owners. I just thought they were really nice employees but then they revealed themselves and my partner in crime & I were pleasantly surprised. We had a very nice conversation of which they also told us their alma mater was Marshall H.S. and decided to open up a spot close by. Yeah, how about right across the street? They also have a lot of faithful customers so you may hear a lot of random folks making small talk with them. :) I have yet to try their food but that’s because Perks is in the opposite direction of where I normally head in the morning; however, they do offer lunch specials as well. Parking is only a small lot even though there are other businesses in the same center. Just be aware of traffic coming down Eckhert!
