This was the best hot dog I’ve had in a long time. I also had the double double burger and added pulled pork and the favors were delicious and perfectly complimented each other. Me and my girlfriend shared the half and half and really enjoyed the fires and rings. My nieces loved their hot dogs and kept saying it was so good as we were leaving

A little gem of an eatery. Came here on a Sunday and the staff was very attentive. I forgot what my fiancé ordered but I had the SA dog which has bacon and bleu cheese. I wasn’t sure about the combination but surprisingly the two together was darn good! For an appetizer we ordered fried pickles and they did not disappoint. So this hot dog place Pugels is definitely 5 stars!

A solid 5 stars for their dogs here! I tried two of their dogs, and they’re good and the added toppings are a great combo. I tried the S.A. and Reuben dogs and both were delicious. The S.A. includes a bacon wrapped dog with bleu cheese and then additional bacon bits, so if you’re a bacon fan, this is for you. The Reuben dog was my favorite because it had smoked corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and Thousand Island dressing. If you’re feel like adding fries or chips, there are value meals which includes the dog and a fountain drink as well, but they also serve sandwiches and salads here too. Pugel’s has indoor and outdoor seating with a very causal vibe since they also serve alcohol here. The service was nice and accommodating especially to new customers. My only gripe for this place is the parking. Besides the front area of this restaurant, I’m not sure where else to park, hopefully management can help with this issue and direct patrons on our options to park so that we don’t get screwed while parking in the next door’s business parking. If you’re in the area and want something to satisfy your hungry tummy, this place hits the spot!

Hands down, this place has the best hotdogs that I have tried in San Antonio. For starters, we had the fried pickles. There wasn’t anything wrong with them, but I would have to say they were just ok. Not the best nor the worst that I have had. The ranch was runny and mild tasting. The next time I go, I will definitely try the pulled pork BBQ nachos. I ordered the Carolina Dog. It comes topped with homemade chili, chopped onions, and coleslaw. The chili and coleslaw are made fresh at the restaurant, and you can definitely tell. It was delicious. I loved the the chili! The onions were also nice and fresh. The ratio of chili to coleslaw to onions was perfect. This hot dog was wonderful. The wieners they use are the best. The only negative I have is that the buns are too thick for my liking. I tasted the bacon wrap dog. It was also very good. The bacon was crispy, and the shredded cheese complemented it well. The prices were good as well. The Carolina Dog was $ 4.49, Bacon Wrap Dog $ 4.29, and the fried pickles $ 4.29. I am looking forward to my next visit.

If you are in the vicinity of the zoo, tea gardens, or brackenridge train, this is a kid friendly option for lunch or a snack. Tons of hot dog choices. If you like reuben sandwiches then try the Rueben hot dog. It’s quite the treat. They also have traditional choices like the chili cheese dog. If feeling adventurous the SA dog is wrapped in bacon with blue cheese bites. They do have salads and sandwiches, and nice affordable draft beer options to wash down the dogs. My kids are super picky and they love it here. It is small on the inside, but they recently added a patio that’s perfect if the weather is nice.

I only have one word to describe this place. AMAZING. I can’t think of another word to describe how fantastic this place is. So I’m going to start with the negative because there is only two. The parking is scarce. And I didn’t see any lines to know where or how to park. Second, when I walked in I didn’t know if I was getting seated or just to set down where ever. POSITIVES: I had the pulled pork sand which and I loved it! The cinnamon or whatever they put in their bread or maybe their sauce. It was fantastic. My girlfriend had the SA dog and the chili cheese dog. Her favorite was the chili cheese so then I had to order it because my favorite kind of hot dog is a chili cheese dog and it is fantastic! Our waiter was so nice and very fast. We were the second table to arrive and when we left the place was packed. For there only being one cook and one waiter they did a fantastic job of being fast and efficient! I will tell all of my friends about this place and I’m positive I will be coming here a lot more. Thank you for having the best hot dogs in San Antonio!

When Pugel’s popped up just outside of our neighborhood, I was thrilled to have a potential hot dog staple just a few miles away. I had heard some pretty stellar things, but once I knew they had a garden dog for the veg crowd, I grabbed my figurative cloak and gavel to judge these new dogs on the block for myself. First things first, I love being able to customize my meal by adding a garden frank to any menu combination — another score for team vegetarians! I ordered the Chicago garden dog with a side of house made chips. When my meal arrived, I naturally dug right into the chips which were perfectly hot, salty, and crispy slivers of goodness. Next up came the dog, which was settled onto a fluffy poppy-seed bun and filled with relish, sport peppers, celery salt, mustard, onions, and tomatoes. This thing was the perfect balance of spicy, tangy, and sweet. The garden dog frank was a little soft for my taste, but the flavors were definitely there. I also had my eye on the LA Dog(avocado and jalapenos on anything is the secret to everything), which has given me just another reason to go back. They’ve got draft and bottled beer, fast service, and a pretty interesting menu. Though I would say the atmosphere could use a little sprucing up, it looks like a porch is under construction for outdoor seating in the future — woo! Jury’s in, and all in all, Pugel’s is a pretty dependable spot for a flavory, filling frank. Would recommend if you’re in the area!
