RIBSRIBSRIBS. That’s all you need to know about this place. The ribs are amazing. Think Fred Flintstone at the drive in ribs. Gigantic. Meaty. Flavorful. Probably the best in the city. The issue is that for as good as the ribs are, the rest of the items are merely OK. The brisket was of the fatty variety, which I know some prefer, but just isn’t for me. Likewise the sausage was nothing special at all. So don’t view it as BBQ, view it as ribs.

Its a hit or miss with me. Sometimes the meat just seems like its been waiting to be served for a tad too long. There’s tender… and then there is overcooked. The peach cobbler is pretty darn good though! With so many bbq joints, its hard to remember that they are on Broadway. Maybe because I keep thinking it’s an abandoned texaco gas station. Either way, the first time I went, it was awesome. I loved the sausage… it was amazing, spicey with the skin giving an awesome snap when you bite into it. But then… the last couple times, everything was just overcooked. The bbq chicken was practically mush. Since I’m not a native San Antonian… I find it weird to have raw onions… white bread yes… but onions with my bbq was foreign. I’m on the fence with that.

Yummy BBQ join on Broadway and a great and fast weekday lunch spot. I had the sausage plate with spicy green beans and mac n cheese, can’t go wrong. They were all out of turkey but I hear that’s their best choice! Military in uniform gets 50% off on Mondays!

My husband and I love this place! I’m a picky bbq person so I was pleased to find out this place opened up so close to my house. Fun use of a gas station and I believe it’s byob which is awesome! Friendly staff and always great service. As for the food, they have amazing ribs, sausage and chicken! The bbq sauce is just perfect and they even have spicier versions if you’re into spicy! Spot on potato salad too. Lone star sandwich is a must for lunch as well. But my fav is the ribs. Enough meat on it and a good size portion. Find myself jaded in portion sizes at other places. not at Rusty Bucket! This place has not got the credit and hype it deserves which is why I’m writing my first Unilocal review ever and giving them as many stars possible. Seriously, aside from them closing at 2pm for lunch and 8pm on weekdays, I have zero complaints. All great experiences at rusty bucket on Broadway and we’ve eaten there a lot. Next time you want some bbq, go give them a try.

The brisket and ribs were over cooked and tasted like fake smoke flavoring. They left a bad after taste and and MSG-like thirst and headache. I won’t be back despite the convenient location. I’ll stick to Smoke Shack for good barbeque.

My friend and I try to find the best BBQ in San Antonio. Our effort was rewarded. The ribs were absolutely outstanding. I can’t imagine how they could improve. We both ordered the«Ribs with One Meat» plate. We got Ribs, of course, and the«marbled brisket». Both were astonishingly good. The sides were quite good but not so much as the meat and ribs.

I’m giving this establishment 5 stars because the Turkey is the best I’ve ever had. Ribs were voted best in San Antonio for 2nd year in a row. Customer service is outstanding!

First let me say this place is located in a re purposed Texaco gas station from the ‘50s. I love it when old quirky buildings are given new life. Then hanging from the ceiling is a collection of vintage toys. I like the fun vibe that provides. I wanted to try several meat options so i opted for the ribs, 2 meats and 2 sides plate. The ribs were very good(pork), nicely seasoned and tender, the brisket very good as well. The chicken was chunks of boneless meat. For BBQ i prefer whole pieces, bone in. I think this keep the meat moister. Some of the chicken was on the dry side with out sauce. The potato salad and beans were both good. Just nothing over the top wow. Good BBQ and worth a visit.

Was somewhat surprised for some reason, at how good it was. Good BBQ all around.

Two tries; nice people; average food and a chopped brisket to go with no napkins. Skip it.

So I usually like my food caliente but not when I’m expecting more of a ‘bbq’ flavor. Alright, maybe a pepper here or there but when I took that bite of the Smacked Down Potato, I was smacked down for real! It’s not that it tasted bad but I was really looking for a completely different flavor profile. It was spicy to the point that the spice was all I tasted. The other let down is that even the website suggests to order the ‘tato with green onions(which I usually have with baked potatoes anyway) and guess what? They forgot it! We ordered to go and unfortunately, didn’t see the g.o. was missing until it was too late.
