Yes I support many Food Banks and Salvation Army places, not just home town Oakland! San Antonio is one the ones I support1 At time there was a person named Patricia A Rivera worked there! I did finally on her suggestion visit San Antonio, she even sent me information on fun places to visit! Sometimes she send me San Antonio post cards! I glad to support this Food Bank! Glad all places I send coupons, art work, all used help the children in that town, that state! So when I get to San Antonio, every once in awhile they call to the room, suggestions what to see! I saw everything they suggested except Amusement Park(with the injury did not feel go on any rides)! They right, San Antonio very child friendly! Please do support your home town Food Bank and Salvation Army, think of the children in that town/state you are helping! Yay SAFB!

I was in San Antonio for a business conference. The organization that I was with choose the San Antonio Food Bank as the community cause to support while we were in town. We spent a few hours helping sort through large bags of potatoes. We worked side by side with local young adults to help ensure that families had fresh produce to feed their families. The food bank employee explained that the summer months are some of the busiest times of the year because children who typically get 1 — 2 meals at school during the year are no longer receiving those meals while out of school and some parents struggle to provide daily meals. The work that we did at the Food Bank will directly impact the community in a positive way. The work that San Antonio Food Bank is doing is vital to ensuring that families in need have someplace to go for help. Support your local food bank all year round.

Enjoyed volunteering with my daughter today we created boxes for the elderly. We usually volunteer on a mornin shift but today we did the afternoon from 1−4pm. We completed about 2.5 hrs and was still able to receive 3 hrs for volunteer work. The area we worked in provided boxes for the elderly with several dry food and can good items. Everyone worked great as a team.

Please consider volunteering… The most thankful and grateful Non-profit organization I’ve volunteered for in San Antonio. I am one that feels regardless where I live in the US I want to find a way to give back to the community the has accepted me with open arms. The SA Food Bank goes to great lengths to contribute to the SA area. From restocking the local pantries to providing assistance with filling out and sending electronically applications for SNAPS, TANF, MEDICAID, WOMANSERVICES, Obamacare, and more. The ladies and gentleman that work and volunteer here are so welcoming and are passionate about helping those in need. Please doesn’t hesitate to call them and ask questions. They will listen and ask questions to help you decided what services are best for you and your family.

SA Food Bank is a great place to volunteer. My first time here was last Saturday by myself and I end up in the warehouse boxing items. It was fun! Although there is a giant fan in the warehouse, but it is hot(well, I’m from California and I’m not use to TX weather yet), so wear comfortable clothe. The lead is a young lady, I think her name is Helen, she is very energetic and very passionate about Food Bank. Overall, I had alot of fun and I already signed up two more Saturdays in July.

The San Antonio Food Bank is really an amazing organization. Servicing 16 counties in south Texas, this place feeds millions of people(including lots of children and elderly) every year and has recently added a department to help with pets. Incredible. I had an opportunity to volunteer here this morning. We put together holiday bags that will be passed out to children at schools whose families need extra assistance. I was both inspired and humbled at the opportunity. And after we spent a few hours putting these bags together they took us on a tour of their huge new facility. The food bank accepts and distributes everything from canned goods to drinks and even have a community garden sponsored by the Spurs that grows 6 acres of organic vegetables which are used in their kitchen for after-school programs. They even offer a completely free 16 week culinary program to help rehabilitate people in need and give them job skills that can hopefully be turned into jobs down the road. Bravo, Food Bank. Bravo.

I was researching San Antonio area nonprofits for a fundraiser that I am planning and I just wanted to tell everyone about the services that the San Antonio Food Bank provides for our community. SAFB is more than just a food pantry, and there’s more to it then just dropping off nonperishables in a bin while walking outside the HEB. SAFB provide more than just a promise of a well stocked pantry, but actual opportunities for the people they service. SAFB’s Kids Café provide children with well balanced nutritious meals that they would not other wise get the opportunity to eat. One thing we may not consider when we shop for groceries is the cost of real food. Fruits and veggies can be quite costly for families that depend on minimum wage jobs, and often their situation doesn’t allow them to spend $ 200 for a couple weeks worth of groceries. Kids Café recognizes this need, and provide nutritious well balanced meals prepared by professional chefs working for the food bank. Aside from a decent meal, the kids also get a little education on health and nutrition, as well as a little help with their homework, if need be. The Spurs Community Garden is an all organic community garden located onsite of the food bank’s campus. Taking up an impressive 5.5 acres, the garden includes fruit trees, bee hives, production garden, demo/education garden and walking trails. In its first year of operation, the garden produced over 2600 lbs of food to be used for their Community Kitchen and Kids Café programs. The garden is open to the public and in need of volunteers. Community Kitchen is a 16 week Culinary Arts program that provides job skills for economically disadvantaged adults interested in working in the food industry. Trained in the food bank’s commercial kitchen, attendees are not only taught by professional chefs, but also prepare the food for the Kid’s Café program. Community Kitchen can even be hired to cater events. So I guess this my «shout-out» to the San Antonio Food Bank. So next time you’re in line at HEB and you see one of those $ 1, $ 3, $ 5, donation coupons, consider what the food bank does. It’s definitely worth more than a few dented cans of cranberries and lentils.
